Shuttle from Budget Rental to Port

I just got a great one-day rate from Budget, so I am seriously considering simply renting a car from MCO and driving to the hotel, and returning it to the Budget facility the morning of the cruise.

I read on Dave's site that Budget has a shuttle that runs from there to the port. Have any of you done this? Is it simple, or chaotic? Do the shuttles run frequently? Or, is it easier just to have a taxi pick us up & drive us to the port?

Dave's site is the best! We did this last April, it's easy and everyone at Budget by the port is doing the SAME thing as you! I thought renting the car one way was a FABULOUS option!

It is helpful, in my opinion, to drop off luggage and family members and THEN return the car on the day you embark. A lot more people can be shuttled to the port if this was followed, otherwise with all that luggage only a couple of parties can fit on the shuttle (van).

Hope this helps!

We did this in Sept 03 and had no issues. There is a waiting section under a "car port like area"...we took our luggage and waited probably about 15 minutes for the Budget shuttle...it took probably no more than 10 minutes to get there got our car and we were off!

It was super easy and so much cheaper. At the time our son was about 3 1/2 so we always have to stop to go to the bathroom, get something to eat.... it is so much more flexible.

We are going in March 05 and plan to do the same thing!

Good luck

We did it in for the Halloween Cruise 04 and it was very easy and quick. I would drop luggage first as there is not much room in the shuttle and they transport for other ships besides DCL.

We are planning on doing this too. What time does the shuttle start in the morning? Also if yall got a rental car after the crise is it easy to get the shuttle to come get you at the port?

Thanks for the help.

When we did it, we had a porter take our luggage across to the waiting area where the rental car shuttles pick up. Each rental car agency had their own covered waiting area with shuttles arriving regularly.

We did this & will do it again. Like the other poster said, drop off family/luggage at port MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A PHOTO ID, wont let you in the terminal with out it!! Then return the car to Budget. Hop on the next shuttle back to the port.

On the return trip, the porter took our luggage to an area where Budget picked people up & we all got on the shuttle. If there had only been room for one of us, I would have went to Budget and then back to the port to get the family.

DW and I just used Budget before and after our Jan. 4-8, 2005 cruise. Budget had shuttles running back and forth from their office to the port area every few minutes. There is a new drop off and pick up area at DCL for the shuttles, you no longer have to walk to and from the parking lot area. We walked off the ship at 8:45am and was at the Budget office by 9:15am, this includes collecting our luggage and going through customs. On the way to the DCL Terminal DW and I had a shuttle van all to ourselves, on the way back, we shared the shuttle van with one other family.
