Shutters pre-purchase photos query

Thanks. I forget they have the make your own book thing. I guess I meant folder - the thing where you look through the actual pictures. :)

I did do the 10 pictures when I was on board and saw how cute they were coming out (and added 1 or 2 on...I liked more than 10 but not up to 20) - I just wasn't sure if buying in advance limited you to looking on the screen.
If you purchase, say, the 10 photo package in advance, and then find that you really want 20, you can change that onboard. Is that what you are asking?

I know we looked at our pictures on the monitor in Shutters to pick the ones we wanted. And it was not a thumbnail size. We also checked our folder (on the bookshelves) to see the actual photos.

OK so now I am confused, could someone confirm for me on the below I can't seem to get my head wrapped around this, sorry:

  1. If I buy the 20 photos on a CD package in advance I'm actually not getting a deal as I could order that on the ship anyway for the same price?
  2. If I buy the full package on CD now I would get the $50 discount but if I end up only wanting 20 pictures I could just downgrade and get a refund on what I had previously paid?

Correct. The price for the 20 photo package (digital or prints) is the same pre-cruise as onboard.

If you want to change your package, you will be refunded the price you have already paid, and then charged the price for the package (or individual photos) you do want. Just be sure to do it by the night of the last full day of the cruise.

I pre purchased the all in package last year for a 7 night and ended up getting over 200 pictures plus the cd. It was a great deal and beautiful pictures, but too much. For my cruise last week I just pre purchased the cd. Because of all the pictures we took last year, and because it was a shorter cruise, we didn't take hardly as many pictures, but still 75 pictures and well worth it. I'm doing a 2 day next month and I think I'll skip the photo package all together for that one.

The 10 or 20 photo package... Do you get to select those from the ones put in your photo book? Or do you have to select them from the screen?
For the 10/20 package you get the CD to take home. The thumbnails are "locked". You can look at all the photos, decide which ones you want and then unlock them permanently. The only issue I have is the size of the thumbnail. When you are trying to look at a child's facial expression when they're standing next to some big character...well, the child's face is so small in the thumbnail. I usually connect my laptop to our big screen just so I can see the photos better. But they are almost always better than the ones I take! Well worth it, IMO.

I am somewhat disappointed at the way Shutters does things. Everywhere I looked it says that the price for a package only includes 1 stateroom. We are travelling in June and my family will be spread over 3 staterooms ---some extended family but one of my kids isn't even booked in my stateroom. So to get all the pics of my kids I would have to buy at least 2 CDs at $400 apiece. This is very different from a trip to WDW where everyone in the family can put pics on one account and get all the pics for the price of 1 CD. Definitely will be using my own camera!

I never saw any difference between the ones in the folder and the ones on the monitor. I just pulled the 12 I wanted from my folder and took them to the counter to check out. If you buy the 10 or 20 print package in advance, would you take them from the folder to the counter or select them from the monitor and wait for them to be printed out? That's what I'm trying to figure out.

Thanks. No kids...just solo me. But I don't want to deal with a CD (so few computers even have drives anymore they're going to be obsolete soon I suspect), so I'll just do like I did in Feb - pick the hard copies from my folder and buy those.

You can do it either way. However, not all the photos actually make it to printed form to be placed in the folders. So it's a good idea to check the monitor, also.

I like the CD because I can make as many copies - whatever sizes I want, including cards. The quality would be less making copies from the print. Once they no longer use CDs, I'm sure they'll go to a USB flash drive. Either way I love having the option of printing my own.

Your child will be included in your photos if under 21 I know it can still be expensive when there is a big gathering of you but I personally don't think you can really compare to WDW. Those that work in WDW are not all trained photographers they got some OK kit but honestly all they are doing are just pointing, zooming and shooting. The Shutters photographers on DCL ships for the most part do a really decent job, they're taking into account the lighting, what you're wearing, these photographers are checking on exposure and aperture and also how you're posed, getting the best out of your kids and checking the photo on the laptop in a lot of cases on how it looks. Of course they must be making a mint on the mark up but I expect to pay more on DCL than at WDW I just wish it wasn't so much more LOL

Do they take pictures of the kids in the clubs during special events that are not open house that could be put on the disc? I've heard they have things like dancing and story times with the princesses. If I'm not there to take pictures but the photographer is, that would be worth the cost of the CD for us.

I don't believe they are allowed to take pictures in the kid's club (as in random pictures that could include several kids).

As others have pointed out...your child (assuming age 21 or younger) who is booked into another stateroom (maybe with grandma) can be included on your stateroom's CD. You just go to Shutter's and make sure they are aware. However, any pictures from the other stateroom(s) that do NOT include your child or anyone from your immediate family will not be included. Other staterooms may purchase CD's at a reduced rate.

No pictures will be taken during secured programming.

Enjoy your cruise!

Does anyone know if the photo book is available on the Wonder? It does not show up on th prepurchase link like it does for the Dream.

You can do it either way. However, not all the photos actually make it to printed form to be placed in the folders. So it's a good idea to check the monitor, also.

So my question is: if you see non printed photos at shutters kiosk and have prepaid for the "all prints" package will shutters print them for you?

Anyone had success with the "all prints" package?

We're on a 5day double dip on the Dream.

Something fun about owning the shutters photos printed rather than digital. They get Framed and shared more than digital.

How are Shutters refunds handled? Do they refund the money back onto your onboard account, which you can use it towards paying off whatever you have there, or does it go directly back onto your credit card you pre-paid with?
