I have only 3 more wake ups before my trip....it seems just before I go I tend to lose excitement and become melancholy...anyone else?? I don't know if it's because I don't like to fly or because I know I'll go into a post dis depression...thoughts?

I think getting ready to take the trip can be stressful. It will all go away once you arrive and of course come back when you leave.

I hate leaving my dog, Belle, at the kennel. She's fine there, but I miss her. All partings are bittersweet.

Happens every time. I spend months planning, and then hit a wall and almost don't care anymore. Keep thinking I should stop all the reading and planning, but I don't....

Ditto! I'm sure my contributing factors are the intensity at the office of trying to extract myself, dropping off animals at the respective kennels, and prepaying all bills that will be due while we are away. Ugh!

I used to get like that too OP - if you are a nervous flier then I think that might be it. After they started taking the nudey shots and doing the probings at the airports my DH and I decided not to fly unless we HAD to so that means we drive if it's within the continental U.S. or Canada ;) Now, I don't get that nervous/depressed feeling before our Disney trips so, for me, it was the flying. Good luck with your flight and I'm sure you'll be recovered once you get there!

Exactly! Happens to me every time too, at about that 3 day mark. I get so wound up from work and getting everything ready to leave that I'm actually afraid I won't be able to relax on vacation.

Don't worry - the moment you're on the plane you'll break from it :rotfl: It works for me every time!
Enjoy!

Yes. I think, for me, the anticipation is the best part. As I get closer, the realization that it will all be over in the blink of an eye is the beginning of the letdown. We do it to ourselves....and we need to stop it! ;)

Agreed, getting on the plane generally solves this for me, too. The several hours leading up the the airport are the worst with frantic, last minute packing (I used only 20 minutes to pack and lock up the house on this current trip), worries over the animals and the mental drill of ”don't forget the <list of several items>" followed by the similar mental process of "what did I forget?" starting the moment I start the car heading for the airport. LOL!

The current trip got off to a rocky start at the airport. The equipment for our first leg arrived late. We were boarded but then sat on the taxiway as we'd missed our takeoff time slot. (Insert worry about our connection in LAX.) Just as we were cleared from SAN for takeoff we were turned around and brought back to the commuter tarmac -- we needed more fuel. We missed our connection in LA (maybe we should have driven!) and slept in the terminal waiting a fresh flight the next morning. In all, we arrived MCO 12+ hours behind plan and forfeiting our first full day of FL fun. Oh, the joys of flying!

I'm now sitting in the BWV lobby with our luggage while my DH shops for last-minute items to take home. We have very late flights through DFW to SAN. I'm hoping for smooth flights (no delays, please!) as I have a returning intern reporting for her first day at 7a tomorrow. I don't want to be late!

First task for intern....start looking up flights for next Disney trip. :cool1:

Me too! It's so much work getting ready to go on vacation that starting about one week out I'm thinking I would rather just stay home. Then I remind myself that I feel like this every time and that once I get to the gate at the airport everything will change and I will feel like I'm on vacation. While I don't wish anyone to feel this way before their trip, it's comforting to know I'm not the only one who does!

Absolutely! You may be suffering from pre-post Disney trip depression. Best solution is to plan the NEXT trip. You kinda pencil-in a time frame for the next trip, and then you make mental notes of all the things you want to do next time during your present trip. If possible, book your next trip at MCO while you're waiting for your flight home. :earsboy:

LOL! Of course ;)

We have a week at Worldmark Oceanside (San Diego) booked in August with multiple units for a family gathering. Next up is a long weekend at the Wyndham Pagosa (CO) for the Parelli Summit (a horse-thing) in Sept followed by a week at the Treehouse Villas in early December and 4 nights over New Years in a 4BR Presidential Unit at the Worldmark at Indio. I've been watching RCI daily this week for an exchange into BWV for our annual business conference in late January 2013. Oh, and there are a few off-road camping weekends scattered here and there. And maybe a weekend at in August for D23's Destination D?? (I only have one night booked for that event and have been pretty lax on watching inventory ...) Gotta keep planning that 'next thing!' :cloud9:

I actually start to get a little sad before we leave because for months or however long I am planning/prepping for the trip.... I realize the trip is in a couple of days and before I know it...IT IS OVER. :sad1: DUMB I KNOW!!! However...I just LOVE having a trip in the planning stages and then not knowing when we might be back after everything is done for the current one....it makes me sad. I have issues. :upsidedow :rotfl2:

Keep thinking I should stop all the reading and planning, but I don't....

Tried that last trip and through the whole visit I felt out of control or something. It was like I always wonederd if I was missing things that I might have done differently if I followed my normal procedure of scheduling everything. We had gaps in places I wouldn't have allowed for and we were late a couple of times too for dinner and a parade.

This is exactly what we do, except we don't wait until we are at MCO to start planning, instead it is while we are on ME on the way to MCO :goodvibes. This helps so much....however, OP I do understand what you are going through. For me it is because I do most of the planning, which yes I can get kind of obsessive about :rolleyes1, that when the 1 week mark comes up, I know it is coming really quickly and then once we get there it will fly by so fast. Believe me, in 3 days when you are on your way to the airport, these feelings will go away :goodvibes. Have a wonderful trip.

I get super grouchy the day before we leave and don't feel too excited. It is because I worry about all the cleaning, packing, problems we could encounter, worry about illness, etc. It takes until I arrive for me to "perk up". It is so weird, but I do this every time. I also start to get depressed on my last day on the trips because it is almost over. This is ESPECIALLY true on Disney cruises. If I have more trips planned than I tend to not get as depressed and MUST have another cruise planned before stepping foot off of the ship!
