Shower/Tub Combos Need To Go

Do you prefer shower/tub combos or walk-in showers?

I like the shower/tub combo because it’s easier to shave my legs with one propped up on the side of the tub. With a shower-only situation (especially if there’s no seat or ledge of any kind), it takes a bit of maneuvering. I don’t need want that kind of workout first thing in the morning.

There is such a thing as a shave bar that a lot of just shower places put in. Many cruise ships have them. Just a simple bar in the lower corner of a shower. A lot of people don't even know what it is.

Many kids don't like the sensation of water falling on their heads. However a bath, with your body is submerged, is enjoyable way to get clean and probably how the majority of kids do get cleaned.
My kids screamed when the shower water would fall on their head. I finally convinced my oldest that it was just like a waterfall over a mermaid cave. My youngest (age 2) still isn't sure how she feels about it, but is small enough to fit in a baby/toddler tub if need be...which is fine for our RV, but I would hate to have to drag it along for hotel stays. When they are not big enough to stand on their own, a tub is a definite must for us.

A previous poster brought up a good point about runDisney runners sometimes liking baths, too.

My suggestion would be to just stay in the resorts that have the showers you like instead of wanting all of the resorts to change to fit your likes. My kids prefer to sleep in separate beds so we stay in rooms with the 5th sleeper option. I don't think that every room should have that as a standard because thats what we prefer. This whole thinking that "well this is what we like, so every place should have this" drives me nuts. Disney has a wide variety of options, pick one that fits your preferences.

None of the standard resort rooms have them except some Yacht Club rooms and Grand Destino. Thats not a variety of choices. Either you don’t know what you are talking about or every little thing drives you nuts.

I get the family / kids need a tub aspect so I can't say they should go. But I absolutely do not want a room with one, so much so that it's my first question and request. I got stuck with one last week and I couldn't stand forwards without my elbows touching the walls / glass. I hate feeling so closed in.

I need a tub in the bathroom, be it shower/tub combo or separate tub. I have old knees and an old back, there is nothing more relaxing at the end of the day than a soak in a tub with a good book and a glass of wine. I do use the hot tubs at the pool but there are normally at least one or more annoying unsupervised kids using them like pools and jumping in them.

So stay at Yacht Club or GD. I didn't say there were a variety of standard rooms that have them. I said there are a variety of options. Pick one that suits you. If that means you pay more, then you pay more.

No. That’s not smart business. They should improve going forward with future refurbs. The prices they charge for rooms, they should be able to incorporate walk-in showers at more then just 2 out of the 20+ resorts they have for some of their rooms. It’ll make their rooms look more premium and up to date. I think Disney knows that too because if you go on their site, the bathroom pictures don’t show the shower tub combo fully. It’s usually cutoff or zoomed in. But the rooms with walk-in showers are fully displayed.

Somebody after my own heart. And I hear you on the hot tubs...it’s why I could never stay at the Values, I need my hot tub time too much!! BC/YC is wonderful because SAB has one that is 18+. I wish all the resorts did, it was so peaceful.

No. I know people take baths including kids but I thought given the choice, showers would be preffered. Now if there was a seperate tub, that would be awsome.
The 1 bedroom villas are it. A nice big shower and a soaker tub. Blt even has a 2nd whole bath too!

Now that my kids are adults we prefer showers and privacy. The villas give us that extra space.

We just gutted a 100 yr old lake house. I insisted at least 1 tub. Why? Someday I am going to have grand kids , God willing and I’ll need it !

I didn't vote because I really don't care. It makes no difference to me either way. I don't have kids and don't take baths, but having a tub/shower doesn't bother me at all.

If it was adults only I do like having a tub combo so I have a place to put my foot when I need to shave my legs. I am ok with a shower stall too. But I took my kids once when my daughter was 12 months and trying to bathe her in a shower was not easy. Now that my kids are older they have been learning how to shower but they prefer the tub still.

Pop has a bunch of rooms with shower only. It's not a bookable category, but you can request it. They're never going to get rid of all the tubs, they have too many families with small children coming for that to be a smart idea.
