I don't use live view at all. I did it once and it took way too long. With live view the mirror is up so you can see the image on your screen. When you want to take a picture, the mirror has to come back down first, then it goes back up for the exposure, down again after the exposure, and up again so you can see a live view. Extremely inefficient, and generally feels laggy.
Canon has a mirror lockup setting in live view to avoid this. I don't know about Nikon.

How is it that the tallest man in the world will always come and stand RIGHT in front of someone with a camera?!
What's more impressive is that not only is he the tallest man in the world, he's also a time traveler. How else can it be that he stands in front of me and other people at the same time?

Getting some great FW shots is one of my goals for our trip this summer.
