should Whispering Canyon have a "warning"?

Friends of ours just returned from their trip and said that the meal they ate in the lobby of their hotel was the worst by far. I asked what hotel and they said- "wilderness Lodge", I asked if they meant Roaring Forks or Whispering Canyon and she didn't recall which was which. I figured out she meant WC by the "in the lobby" and asked what was so bad. She said that the waitress was so rude and they couldn't believe how she acted. She "made fun of their NY accents, teased her son until he was almost crying, and kept calling her husband "Sweetie". I explained to her about the antics at that restaurant being part of the fun- they just didn't "get it" and she said they should tell you before hand that there is an audience participation meal. My family has always loved this restaurant and are often disappointed if we get a quiet server. What do you guys think?

First let me say that there is a sign in front of the restaurant disclosing the fact that some rip roaring good times and loud antics will follow. We have eaten here a few times and usually smile at the stuff that goes on. But last visit we were with my Mom.

You can ask to sit in a quieter section if you don't like a lot of antics directed at you, but you still want to eat here and see the antics. We asked to sit in a quieter section and although the host who seats you tried to cajole us into sitting in a more active spot, I quietly told them my mother would not really appreciate have a fistful of straws thrown on her or having 30 dining guests run to our table to bring us ketchup.

Upon hearing that, they led us to our table and the only antics we were subjected to were a couple of straws tossed at my son and a few jokes. Even these annoyed my straight-laced Mom!

So, you can ask to sit in a section where the wait staff don't really hoot and holler and embarass.

DH and I are going there on our trip and I am not warning him ahead of time, somehow I am going to try to get him to ask for ketchup and maybe make a cell phone call home to our kids......can't wait to see what happens!!!! :rotfl:

I posted last april about a waitress that teased a child to the point of humiliation and then the poor boy (probably around 10) cried in front of an entire resteraunt full of people. I think they need to tone down some of the teasing ( I know many would not agree, but what I saw could seriously have harmed that child for life)

I did not warn my DH or DS and they had a ball!! DS gets embarrased easy you know he is ALMOST teenager HA!!!

WE are going back to WDW in April for DS and DH's birthdays. I asked DH to give me his must do agains for dining so I could make ressies. You know Le Cellier first he just loved his dinner but the next one was WCC!!

Tell them to loosen up they don't belong in DIsney if they don't play well with others!!

To the naughty chair for them both!!!

They do give a warning - there is a sign. But, I am sure many people don't notice.

On the other hand, after staying at the WL - you can hear and see the antics from the lobby. I think it'd be odd to say that you didn't notice anything crazy going on in that restaurant, unless you walked right in and were seated and didn't spend anytime in the lobby at all. Heck, even at check in we could hear the wait staff carrying on. I think that would be a warning in and of itself.

We where there a month ago and had a great time. My kids still yell ketchup every time they want some (only at home).....But maybe the waiter went too far if your friends son was going to cry. I know that I would go back and I would recommend it for a family with kids.

I think it depends on the person- even in a regular, low key restaurant- my family enjoys fun, lively interaction with the server- even when they disclose TMI- we just enjoy the people. People who do not- such as my in-laws whom are nasty to just about every waiter/waitress we have ever had when out with them- do not belong in a place like WCC or Disney for that matter.

Sorry- having a bad minute- just got off phone with afore mentioned mil
