Should we upgrade?

This is the consideration and would like some feedback. We are booked for POR from 5/14-5/21. I got a discount code and was able to get room for $79 per night. I have heard this is a great resort and lots to do for daughter and son ages 6 and 4. As I have begun to plan I realize that knowing my kids we will be spending a lot of time in MK. Began to consider the long ride from POR to MK. Was wondering if we stayed at a resort on monorail we would save lots of time. I assume that my discount would be good on upgrade as well. I don't want to give the impression that "money is no object" because that is not the case. But do want to make the time as hassle free as possible. Are the resorts on monorail really worth the money? I heard that the GF is most expensive and the atmosphere is kind of stuffy at the more expensive resorts. Which one is the best value for your money and which one is best for kids? Thanks for your help in advance! Debi :cool1: :flower:

Your best bet is to call them and check availability. Since May is getting very busy lately, availability pickings may be slim already.

We're staying at CR in late April, as it's close to MK. We can walk to the MK in 15 minutes with our toddler.

Plus, relatively easy monrail transportation to Epcot.

Boat transportation to FW for Trails End restaturant and petting zoo (though with the recent problems in Orlando with petting zoos, we may rethink that part of the visit).

:sunny: I understand what you're going through. We had booked a room at the WL for early June. We decided to upgrade and move to the YC when AP discounts were released. Our main reason for this was that we will probably spend most of our time at Epcot and the Studios. These are the favorite parks of our 2 DS. I have not regretted making the decision to move. It seems like since I have settled on staying there, all of my planning has been much easier. ::MinnieMo I think it pays to be realistic on the budget front, but it also pays to have some peace of mind when it comes to planning your trip. I have stayed at the CR and GF and highly recommend both. :earsgirl:

I also have a 6 & 4 year old, in October we upgraded from POR to Polynesian. We loved being on the monorail, and the resort was not at all "stuffy", very kid friendly and laid back, kids lived in their bathing suits. We were in Samoa Blding which was right by the pool- request it if you decide on the Poly. :wave2:

That being said, I don't think we would have minded much a longer ride to & from MK, it was a nice chance to rest in the A/C and gather our thoughts and talk about what we wanted to do first, or to relive the great time we had just had. Also met some really nice family's on the bus trips. If your kids are animal lovers like mine you may find yourself at Animal Kingdom as much as MK.

I do think next time we go we'll try POR, Poly was awesome but so so expensive!

Either way, I'm sure you'll have a great time, let us know what you decide. :guilty:
