Should we rent a stroller or bring our own?

Saw a nice umbrella stroller with basket underneath the other day at Babies R Us for $49.99-Euro Trend Sport is the name.

My 5 year old DD fit comfortably in it.

I liked that one too but I had to buy 2 for my 4 & 6 year old so that was a bit much..For those of you who are looking for just one stroller I saw the "Jeep" brand as well for $29.99. The wheels looked sturdy & it steered well. The handles were also ergonomic & seemed comfortable to push..if I only need one or they had that in a double I would have picked it up.

There is a "Jeep" double stroller available on some websites. If you "google" it, you'll come up with a bunch of hits for it.

I guess I missed the Jeep stroller. Will have to go back and look at that one. $29.99 sounds even better!

But what do you do w/a folded up stroller on the train, tram, monorail? Does it sit in front of you? We will have a doulbe jogging stroller for my 2 and 5 yr old, and it almost sounds worse to bring my own b/c of having to deal w/ it in those situations. I happen to have a double jogger and we are going to use it instead of buying new strollers. After the trip the double will probably be going bye bye due to it's advanced age and condition, plus we dont' use it much!

we travelled w/our twin dd's when they were almost 6 and brought our own Lightweight Graco ones. In 38 more days (  ) we'll also be taking our 2 yo dd for her first trip.We went and bought another lightweight Graco stroller for about $40 at Walmart. We tested it out at the zoo and it worked great. It reclines, has a canaopy, and underneath storage. And the thing that REALLY sealed the deal ...it has baby Mickey, Minnie, and Pluto on it. It also has a cup holder. I also agree w/the other posters about being able to throw ponchos, water bottles, all that fun stuff underneath.
Good luck

PS We never had a problem on the buses with them either. They collapse easily and compactly.

Thanks for mentioning this duck_adoo! I went to Walmart to check it out today. It was the last one our Walmart had so I snagged it! I LOVE it! It was only $36 with tax too. I looked high and low for an umbrella stroller with a decent basket, shade, recline and even the $100 ones didn't have what I needed. This one even has a cup holder! I think it is only 12 lbs for the weight. For the price you really can't beat it. :thewave:

For the monorail, you can just push it up on...no folding needed. The tram you will have to fold it and sit it beside you. They have wider seating on certain parts of the tram and you can try to snag one of those. It's like two seats facing one another....if that makes sense. For the railroad, the same thing as the tram! As for using a double jogger, you probably won't be able to get that up on the monorail except in the handicap car. I have never tried a jogger stroller so I have no idea how well those things fold up. I always thought they looked super bulky. If so you may want to stroller shop and look for something that isn't going to be a headache.

I haven't tested my double jogger yet (#2 due in Nov.), but I took my single jogger to DW four times. It is a big stoller, and I never really had a problem with it on a bus. It sat in front of DH or I. What is really helpful is if the bus driver will let you load through the back door. Ask first, it is a safety hazard if the driver doesn't know you are doing it. That way, you don't trample anyone getting on or off.

just an FYI on the rental strollers....if you pay in advance for the number of days you will need, the rate is slightly lower. This is from the All Ears newsletter:

At the theme parks:

Single or infant (newborn to 9 months) strollers: $10/day (no deposit) OR $8/day Length of Stay rental

Double strollers: $18/day (no deposit) OR $16/day Length of Stay rental

Wheelchairs: $10/day rental (no deposit) OR $8/day Length of Stay rental

ECVs: $35/day with $5 refundable deposit

I was originally planning on bringing a new Chicco Caddy stroller (purchased on clearance for only $25) for my DD5 ~ I know she will never last all day walking. Then I decided to forget about the Chicco and rent playing by ear how DD8 does with all the walking and figuring they can either trade off on a single stroller or get the double if need be. Now with the price increase, I just don't know what to do. The Caddy only goes to 40 lbs ~ DD5 is about 44 lbs but I figured a few lbs over will be okay. DD8 is way to big for it. DD8 will be fine for most of the walking, but I'm just concerned with the heat in August, being able to be in the parks at night and lots of walking might be to much and she will need a little rest here and there. :confused3

Can you pay the rental fee before arriving at WDW? Or can you pay the rental fee at your resort? Or is the only place to pay for rental strollers at the front of each park?

We have a DS5 and a DS2. I am planning on renting a double stroller. I am not happy about the $16 a day, but I am looking at it this way. I already will have a lot invested in plane tickets, theme park tickets, food, and accomodations, so if all I have to spend is $16 a day to keep everyone a little happier and to protect the rest of my investment it is well worth it!
