Should we postpone the honeymoon by 20 days?

What would you do if you were in my shoes

  • Leave on 9/4 and enjoy 2 cruises and 10 days at disney

  • Leave on 9/24 and take the 1 disney cruise, 10 days at Disney, and enjoy the celebrations

  • Special Snowflake

FI and I are getting married in my hometown 9/3/11. He wants the HM to be a surprise, and I'm the travel planning diva, so I got right to work planning the trip of a lifetime. My plan was a 4 day Bahamas cruise on Carnival leaving the day after the wedding (9/4) followed by 10 days in disney, and then a 7 day Caribbean cruise on Norwegian.

I started looking at the pricing of Disney cruises, and it wasn't as obscene as I expected for a 7 day Caribbean (1800 vs. 1100 for NCL), but the earliest sailing date is 9/24.

And then I realized that Disney's 40th Anniversary is 10/1/11- the day the ship would be getting back to Port Canaveral. AND the Disney Wine&Dine 1/2 marathon is that night (we both pretend to enjoy running!).

So despite the fact that we'd get to take a Disney Cruise, attend MNSSHP for the first time ever, enjoy Food & Wine Festival, Run the Wine & Dine 1/2 (one of the only night distance runs in the country) AND be there for the 40th Anniversary, I can't get past having to go back to work for 2 weeks and not get the fairytale "romantic getaway to the airport" I've always dreamed of right after my wedding reception.

So brides, what would you do?

Could you go on a 2night break right after, to somewhere closer? Just so that you'd have the initial 'after the wedding' feeling?

Since the wedding's Labor Day Weekend, we have the option of taking those two nights and either going to Chicago (45 minute drive) or the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore (20 minute drive)

Maybe you could do that then and then go for 9/24 it'll still be a honeymoon regardless of timing, and ull have the extra bonuses

I'd wait the 20 days, then it's like you're spreading the festivities out for longer
