i say this cause every time when Universal studios announce a ride they head to Dallas Texas with the mascot of the upcoming ride even tho allas does has A Universal Studios in Las calinas. now everybody knows if Disney is anywhere universal is right behind them so if they build a third theme park would it spike up business because many people in Texas have complained of SFOT and hurricane harbor is to over pack and at this point. Texas needs New Blood are should i say New Oil in the works. :lmao: . and many people cant afford to go to Florida an universal studios so i say build a third Resort in Texas cause they already have a studio since the 1980's so should they build one Please give me your feed back on why and why not. on this idea even Oklahoma they have fields of Land coming towards Texas.

I don't think you'll see Universal or Disney add another theme park anywhere in the US at this point. Universal is concentrating on Orlando and the overseas parks and Disney is...well...Disney. ;)

If Universal decided to build a park in Texas, they couldn't use the Marvel characters since the contract is only "East of the Mississippi" so Disney could use those characters instead.

Disney has it's hands full right now with Lucasfilm, Marvel and everything else they've plunked billions down for. Nothing has happened at WDW so I think the main priority right now is to concentrate on the guest experience with the new FastPass Plus and the RFID cards. Avatarland, Disney Springs and the Fantasyland expansion seem to be the only things set in stone right now.

Wow! That makes me sad... I love WDW. Avatarland, armbands and FLE just seems so pathetic. I want to see WDW become better than that!

And nothing on Pandora has even been announced, so that is way down the line. We all know how far in advance Disney tells us stuff.

Yeah, New Fantasyland was announced like a month after I was born and here they are still dragging that one out.

Universal isn't everywhere Disney is. Only the US and Japan. Universal has another park in Singapore and if I remember right are working on a park in Dubai? Disney has Paris and Hong Kong and soon Shanghai....or that's the other way around. I forget.

Correct.

Universal has:

Universal City (which was already there before Disneyland), CA
Orlando
Osaka (The OTHER side of Japan from Tokyo)
Singapore

Soon or In-the-works:
South Korea
Moscow
Dubai (if it ever gets started again)

So yeah, Universal doesn't just follow Disney everywhere.

I wish Universal would build a massive park in TX - it would give WDW some much needed competition! I think many people would head there instead of FL or LA if they built it right

JMHO, won’t happen.

the parks on both coasts are convenient for the largest population area via driving or a 2-3 hour flight.

Yeah - there is already a ton of infrastructure for the two current parks (or three if you count VB) and they need to focus on Epic Universe.
There are numerous attractions in Orlando to get people from all over the world, adding a park in Texas would end up being a regional thing IMO.

Well to be fair, SW is in Texas, so I guess one amusement park was enticed to open in Texas.

But I agree, Both Disney and Universal started in CA, as born of the film industry, that is still there. And frankly, when Disney and Universal came to FLA, land was cheap, and local governments were happy they came, as they brought tourist money and more jobs. Texas has never been known for an industry other than oil, and well oil money never seemed to want an amusement park. I think the only reason SW went there, is it is a sea animal rescue company, and since sea life is all along the large coast Texas has, it makes some sense why SW opened a park there. Or maybe partly why.

And since both the LA area and the Orlando area already lure a huge amount of amusement park going people, why open a park anywhere else in the US? There other companies that have opened amusement parks in other states, including parks in OH, PA, VA and NJ. And since both Disney and Universal have more land to build on in Orlando, or add to current parks in Orlando, I don’t see why they’d try to open a park anywhere else in the US.

Overseas? Yeah, with international travel to the US, yes, the foreign do visit. But generally, such travel is very expensive, and for many, a very long flight. Hence, I can see why both Disney and Universal want to tap into those large, very large, group of foreign people that would go to a park that is more local, and easier and maybe much cheaper to get to. And not as far to travel to, so not having to stay a longer time to make it more value due to a large travel cost, and a longer travel time.

Ah, FWIW.

Sea world used to have a park in Aurora, OH, opened long before Texas one, in early1970s. They banked on being with 2 - 3 hours driving distance of so many people. Miss it, so many lovely ‘day’ road trip for our extended family :)

They wanted to capture the midwest crowd. Didn’t think it through tho re operating costs in general. Attendance never quite reached expectations. They were only open May to September due to harsh weather, thusly had to transport the animals to San Diego at first, then Orlando. Imagine the cost of that!

Finally, they cut losses in 2000. sold it off to Cedar Fair who was clueless as to running a park with animals. They sold it all off & leveled the site. The coasters at the park across the way met the same fate and Cedar Point in Sandusky, (approximately an hour west of the old site) became the ‘only game in town’.

Neat history Keisha. Yeah, I have at least 6 amusement parks within a 2 or so hour drive. Because of our weather in winter, all those local parks are not year round. Too cold to ride most any ride in the open air in Winter. But have to say, they can still be a good value with a season pass.

Ah, it’s nice to enjoy all kinds and sizes of amusement parks.

This "foreigner" is happy to keep coming to Orlando.

Texas is somewhere we`ll hopefully visit for other things, but for us and as PP Tony67 mentioned, Orlando has so much more than parks. We travel to other places in Florida within a few hours of Orlando, and don`t just spend all our time in the parks or hotels.......

Perfect for us.

You're a "foreigner"? Based on your avatar I assumed you are a "queen".

No major, publicly traded corporations are building anything in Texas now. Nor should they.

In your dreams! They are building a lot here. A lot of companies are even moving their HQ here from Cali and other states. Oracle, Tesla, Amazon, Microsoft, CBRE, Charles Schwab (both moved HQ here) -- all building here. Apple is building a HQ here in Texas. GOD Bless Texas!!!!!

We won't see a Disney park or Universal Park here but it would be nice. Six Flags doesn't cut it. Thankful to live in a great country where we can go to Florida or Cali to enjoy these parks though. We are truly lucky.
