Should universal studios have a third theme park in texas

In your dreams! They are building a lot here. A lot of companies are even moving their HQ here from Cali and other states. Oracle, Tesla, Amazon, Microsoft, CBRE, Charles Schwab (both moved HQ here) -- all building here. Apple is building a HQ here in Texas. GOD Bless Texas!!!!!

We won't see a Disney park or Universal Park here but it would be nice. Six Flags doesn't cut it. Thankful to live in a great country where we can go to Florida or Cali to enjoy these parks though. We are truly lucky.

I expect that to reverse, and quickly. Amazon was going to build a big HQ in NYC a few years ago, didn't end up happening. You can't build things if your employees won't move there, and they're not getting any white collar talent to move from the Bay Area or Seattle to Texas now. Disney or Universal would face a similar talent problem if they tried to build in Texas right now, not that they were going to do so anyway. It makes no sense for them to create their own competition for the Florida parks when Texans have shown themselves willing and able to travel to Florida. If Universal was going to build a new park in the US, they would place it in a location that would not be in direct competition with the Florida parks. But that doesn't seem to be their focus at all. Instead, they're building the new Nintendo World, which I think will be a huge hit.

Newsflash: It is already happening. Californians are moving to Texas in droves. They are taken over the areas of Austin and Houston. Apple already started the process and almost complete. They already have a major corporate presence in Austin. Microsoft is already in Austin and Houston. They are expanding. Nothing is stopping that. Oracle already moved their HQ from Cali to Austin. Tesla has already done so and is building their huge plant there. CBRE and Charles Schwab already moved to Texas recently and is HQ'd here. Also, there is already abundant white collar tech talent already in Texas. Austin and the hill country is already building up to be another Silicon Valley. Fortune Mag just came out with major article about this. I agree 100% with your take on Universal not coming to Texas. It would take a big chunk out of their attendance in Florida. Absolutely.

I actually hope you're right and that demographic shift is true. Might make things truly interesting in Texas before we know it.

Texas is not a good location for a theme park. With our cold-ish winters (remember San Antonio was below freezing for a week this year), scorching 100 degree plus summers, and high allergen counts, even in central Texas, theme parks like Sea World and Six Flags only operate seasonally, The big boys cant afford to build a major, seasonal park. It'll be like Euro-Disney all over again.

Well to be fair, SW is in Texas, so I guess one amusement park was enticed to open in Texas.

The reason SW built in Texas is because they were owned by HBJ at the time. HBJ was going to relocate their corporate HQ to San Antonio. Then HBJ merged or was purchased, by Houghton Mifflin and the parks sold to Budweiser.

Texas weather is very similar to central Florida's. They have freezes as well there. Southeast Texas might be more humid than Florida but they are similar in climate.

I am hoping that WON'T happen or I will be looking for a new state to live in. I love Texas. Don't California my Texas! :) LOL! It maybe hot and humid here and we get with 'canes and storms a lot but it is a great state to live in. Very glad I made it here 18 years ago. PLus, the music scene is the best in the nation. Again, already too much to do here and plenty of attractions in Texas. No need for a Disney or Universal park.

I don't recall Walt Disney World's temperature being in the teens for 7 days, never above freezing...with no power or 1 hour of power on, 2 hours off, like we had in February. Oh, and with the humidity today, the heat index in San Antonio is expected to be 105.

That was very rare. Once in 40-50 years type of an event. Yes, that probably won't happen in Florida since they have water on three sides of the state. I lived in Florida in 1985 and it his the teens for a few days but that was rare.

Yeah, suppose to be 110 in Houston this weekend. 102 today. 96 in Orlando. Just so you know -- I agree that Texas should not have a Disney or Universal.

Fun fact — Did you know Six Flags started in Texas? The six flags are the flags that have flown over the state...So this one is an export across the country 😉
