Placenta!! Don't get me started on that. Why does the midwife have to stick her hand in that bag thing that's attached to it???!!!

And someone mentioned birthing pools. My other SIL had her's in a birthing pool and she showed us the pics, god love her, after she'd had the baby and while she was still in it. It looked like they'd slaughtered a pig in there!!

Absolutely no way I would have missed my kids birth, it's not so much watching it as it is to be there for your wife.

Nothing what I seen grossed me out, I don't think I was even thinking about that, I was to caught up in happiness.

You know..let me just tell you the answer. YES the baby's father should be there. The bottom line is..it is not about you what you want to see and dont. Sometimes in life you have to go in and do things that you dont like to do. Sometimes you have to see things that are unpleasent. Not because you want to...because you have an obligation to another person.

If the baby's father doesnt go in..who goes in with the mom? Whose job is it?

Would I love to go back to the day when women were completely knocked out for the whole expirience. Absolutely! Dads and Moms would not have to expieince the whole thing. But that is not how it is done now..and someone needs to be there for the mom.

As the other poster said..if you do the crime you can see the slime!

I will say DH was traumatized for quite some time after DS#1 was born... He learned with DS#2----he stayed right at my head and didn't move til Josh was out. He would be in complete agreement with you about a Father's room....but I eneded him there to coach me on and he did a great job of that.

I got one like this too. He's a former firefighter and knew all about birthing babies the ordinary way, and was positively ecstatic when he found out that I was having a c-section. The doctors literally had to tell him during the surgery that he needed to be up with me and that he was not part of the surgical team. He wasn't much help to me, but I bet he can tell you exactly how the operation was performed. Just in case he ever needed to perform a c-section.

I just read the OP's post to DH and he said "I guess that is what separates the men from the boys". Sorry acepepper, not all men find childbirth so appalling.

Now what I'd acutally like to see is a guy go through labor. That would be pretty funny to witness, I gotta admit.

I married a medical wimp, he can't watch medical shows on TV without getting weak in the stomach.

When Belle was born there were bets being made on if he would stay standing during the entire thing or not. He did, barely!

This time he did much better, to the point of taking pictures of the placenta and pools of blood (I hemorraged) Not sure what he plans on doing with the pictures, but at least he handled it better this time!

I told him since he made it through the births of the girls I'd hold his hand while he gets snipped

My husband still talks about my C-Section to this day. Of course I was dead to the world during the entire thing but DH got to see my zipped open, all the insides including JC removed and zipped back shut.

There is nothing more precious that two people who love each other can share than the birth of their child. I still regret having to be put out.

Oh and to call your wife a skank, regardless of how she looked is pitaful, something tells me you and your wife don't have a very loving relationship, thats sad. My DH would never in a million years call me a skank, even if I was covered in mud. Sad

I love how bent out of shape people get over what acepepper posts, but I think he's hysterial! He must view the DIS boards as his own personal social experiment where he throws out something like the above post and has days (at least) of entertainment.

Quite frankly, I didn't want to be there so I can't imagine him wanting to be either. I had a rough delivery and believe you me, it wasn't fun/enlightening/awe inspiring to watch.
