Should I watch Enchanted?

I avoid human remakes of animations and this always struck me as Cinderella, they already did it well and, "If it ain't broke don't fix it," is my general vibe. The only exception is I absolutely love the short plays in the parks and wish they would endlessly change the scripts, always thought it was a wasted space they could inexpensively infuse new into the guest experience. I do like Amy Adams though so I wouldn't run away if it came on like I would with the animal remakes- akkkk, only good animal one ever was that March of the Penguins.

We borrowed Enchanted on DVD from the town library approximately 70,000 times when my kids were little. I still like it!

I love all of it but the cockroaches. As someone who lives in Florida, that freaked me out.

ETA - To be fair, they are singing and dancing cockroaches, but I just close my eyes during that part.

In fact….I’ll be watching it soon when I put up Christmas Tree #1 next weekend. I always put this movie on, because I’ve seen it so many times that I can watch it, while not actually watching it.

I agree. And it pays homage/pokes a little fun at all the princess stories. It's unique and really cute.

The only thing it had in common with Cinderella is :
1. She sings to rodents in one scene
2. There is a Ball
3. The climax is at midnight (right? It has been a while since I have seen it)

There is no wicked stepmother, she is not abused, there is no fairy godmother.

It is much more a parody and making fun of the princess tropes, like how you are wearing a big poofy dress and how that would be very inconvenient in modern life. When you ask animals to help you clean in New York city, it will be rats, pidgeons and cockroaches.

I love Enchanted, and when I'm feeling grumpy and unmotivated to clean on Saturday morning I put on the cleaning song from the movie and play it like 3 times and by the end I'm loudly singing along while scrubbing my sink or whatever chore needed done first. Highly recommend it, it's a cute movie.

Agree. Not only are the homage to Cinderella but also Snow White, Sleeping Beauty and probaby more but those are the main ones I can think of.

Have you seem Wreck-It Ralph 2? Do you like the scene with the princesses? That is the closest that comes to the vibe of Enchanted.

Because I really really like Enchanted and I want everyone who loves Disney (princesses) to see it

Especially if the reason you didn't see it was because you thought it was a Cinderella remake, which it is not.

Also, I am waiting for Pollyanna to return and tell us she loved it. I need to do something in the meantime.
