Hi to all! We have a reserv. for a 2bdr. 7/30-8/5 @ BWV. I am going to add the nite of 7/29 to our reserv. tomorrow am. But I was thinking of switching to SSR;which is our home resort-we have not stayed there yet. We are a group-2 parents;17 yr. DS,16 DS,13DD and her friend age 13,a 4 yr.DS (austistic) and 1.5 DS. I am thinking of this change due to the fact of wanting to head back to resort in the afternoons. BWV has no zero entry pool.and no splash area for the 2 youngest DS's. We also heard there were hot tubs-more than were at BWV. If someone could clarify this I would greatly appreciate it! The older kids being WDW vets will be able to basically do their own thing-as they will be together. We haven't stayed at SSR and would love to hear all-good/bad-about it. And will I be able to get a 2bdr at this late date @ SSR or am I better off just adding the 1 nite @ BWV? And how long of a ride and how would I go about getting to a breakfast @ the contemporary for Chef Mickeys @ 9:10 am? Thanks for all the replies-and all advice in advance! Angel

Both are great resorts....I like BWV due to the location close to EPCOT/MGM and the various restaurants. There is only one small hot tub and one small kiddie wade pool. The silde is pretty fun even for adults. The SSR pool has a cool zero entry and I think there is two hot tubs. SSR is newer, but BWV is well maintained.

I would stick with BWV because you can always get SSR as they are almost never sold out and BWV is sold out frequently.

Either way, both are great properties.

I've got to agree with Steamboat Bill - stick with BWV. The location is great giving you the ability to walk to Epcot and the Studio. There's plenty of time to try SSR on a future trip.

As far as getting to the Contemporary for breakfast at Chef Mickey's - driving works out well.

Give your HOME resort a shot.

Heck, you picked it when you bought. I assume you liked it over the others?

heeee-heeee....it sounds like you are on the wait list for a BWV reservation....yeah thats the ticket.....got to SSR :thumbsup2

I'd stay at BWV, I think it would be easier for getting back to the resort for naps/relaxing.

Also don't forget you can hop to SSR if you want to try the zero entry pool.

I tried saratoga Springs apartment complex first hand last month and I was disappointed with the resort. The concrete walkways to the rooms are HIDEOUS. See it for yourself.

Nope Bill, I just got back from 10 days at the BW 3 weeks ago.

No waitlist for me.

I just kinda figured the OP would be well served to stay at SSR.

They obvioulsy researched prior to buying and found that SSR was the best fit for them. So why not stay there?

Cornfused in Ohio?

Either would be fine. In the future it is likely going to be easier to stay at SSR than at BWV so you'll have other chances. I'd say stay with BWV for that reason and as a good location for your teenagers to have some freedom. Go over to SSR, have a light lunch at Artist Palate, maybe even do some pool hopping to try it out.

I call it an apartment complex because it is setup like a "shoebox" type 2-3 storey apartment building. It did not have that magical DVC "thing"

No we have a reserv. gor BWV already. We are waitlisted for VWL. I was interested in opinions-not stay where you buy. We never saw BWV or SSR-before we bought in. Only prior stays were AKL,GF,POLY all conceirge stays. We bought in because of the $ we spent each trip. If some one with a experience on a mixed aged group of people visiting WDW could offer some advice;I would greatly appreciate it! DS age 4 is autistic and afraid of the water-will only go in a pool where he can feel the bottom-or he won't leave the steps. We have an inground and this is an issue. He said he wishes our pool was like the POLY-I wish too! LOL Thanks,Angel

SSR will be perfect=Zero entry pool.

IMO SSR would also give you more open space for your son to take nice walks without having huge crowds of people around all the time. I bet your son would LOVE some of the shops at DD, such as the lego store. VERY visual.

A reminder..the OP asked nicely about what resort would work best for her family...it is not an invitation to resort bash.

I love the BWVs and I'll be spending a lot of time there this vacation, but if I had a 1.5 yr old and couple of other young kids, I would want to be in a more quiet location like the SSR or OKW. It's going to be hot during the time that you're going. You're going to want to be at a pool that you can use a lot!! We've never tried the OKW, but the SSR was very nice and relaxing. Close to DTD for the older kids too. You can request a view of DTD. Nice views.
If SSR is available, I would book it for all nights of your vacation. And, I love the BWVs --own there!.

I'm not sure how disney transportation is from the SSR as we had the use of a rental car. As far as getting to your Chef Mickey's breakfast by 9:10am. Give yourself plenty of time to get there. Head for the bus by 7:45am There's two ways that I would go from SSR using disney transportation

1.Take a bus to one of the other parks, except for AK and catch a bus to the Contemporary.
Or
2. Take bus to MK and walk over to the Contemporary. It's less than a 10 min. walk from where the bus drops you off at MK. If you need to get back to the SSR, you can take the monorail to Disney transportation/MK and then a bus to SSR.

3. last choice that early: take a bus to DTD, then take bus to Contemporary

I agree with Cinderpals on the transportation. I'd take a bus to MK from SSR then either walk or monorail the the Contemporary for Chef Mickey's. Her options 1 and 3 would be my second and third choices, respectively.

I also wanted to add that if the BCVs happen to be available, I'd choose to stay there! I love the BCVs, but thinking about your younger kids, the SAB pool all the way over to the right side, closest to the Yacht & Beach Club has lower water levels and a cute little sand island to play on. The younger ones could wear the little life vests that you can check out if available and stay on that side of the pool with you in it, of course. The older kids could spend time by the big slide...or just take-off to Epcot, the Boardwalk or where ever you allow them to venture off. My DS 13 loves to take "chill" breaks at the arcade there, then join us for lunch at Beaches n Cream, or a dessert. Cape May has the Character Breakfast right there, and the Buffet Dinner can accomodate a larger party. It's a smaller resort, and the staff are very friendly. The Market Place has a great sandwiches!! There's a lot of options for transportation. I've take a bus back from MK to the Boardwalk because I had just missed the Y&BC bus. Took a boat back to the BCVs or walked back...can't remember how I got back!

Oh! The DVC pool remains open very late. There is a very large Jacuzzi there. :cloud9:

I have seen multi-age groups there. I love the WL too, but honestly, I was a nervous wreck with my daughter 5yrs old now, but 3yr-4yrs when we stayed there. The pool was deep and the kiddie pool was teeny-tiny with Donald and Daisy always there!! The real ducks!!

See the picture under my name? That pic was taken at the BCV SAB pool. See if you can get ressies there. You'll love it!
