Should I have saved the tic?

I just pulled a small tic off of my son's head. It bit him and was halfway "swelled up". I got the entire tick off, the head, all of it. I threw it in the toilet and flushed it.

Now my DH is worried that I didn't keep it in case he gets sick.

Now I'm a little nervous

Here's a reminder to check your kids and pets thoroughly, he didn't even know it was there, I just decided to check him since he ran thru a wooded area.

Hope this will turn out to be nothing.

Saving the tick won't do anything. If you are really nervous call your doctor, he will have your son come in for a blood test and then repeat it in a few weeks to make sure he doesn't have Lyme. Otherwise just check and make sure no rash or infection develops. Clean the area well and put a little antibiotic ointment on it.
