Should I give up Chef Mickey's on night of arrival?

We arrive in Orlando at 3:30, and have an ADR for CM at 7:50, with a park day of AK the next day (possible late arrival), or should we drop CM and just eat "in" and relax and hit RD the next day? Is CM a must not miss, or will we see Mickey and friends somewhere else?

We did not like the food at CM but my son loved it there so we will go again for breakfast. Are you going for the meal or the characters? I have read some good reviews recently so maybe it got a little better (food wise).
I would keep it for now and see how you feel when you guys arrive at your resort (if you feel good go for it but if you guys are tired from travel then call and cancel)

The food is not the greatest...but the desserts are awesome. But Chef Mickey is always a must do for us!!!! It's boys favorite place to go!!! The only place the Fab 5 is together. These ressies ar hard to get so think twice before cancelling!:)

I've given up making ADRs on arrival day...too stressful. We prefer to relax at resort or Downtown Disney and do what we feel like, depending on how tired we are, how stressful travel day was, etc. You can see Mickey elsewhere, but not without a lineup (or another character meal). I guess only you can decide. I'd hate to miss Mickey!!!!!!!

Keep your ADR! We went to CM dinner at 9pm after a day at AK. We were so happy to see the "Big characters" and get them out of the way! I loved having done this on my first day.

Tough question. We had CM booked for our first night when we went to WDW in December. We had gotten up at 5:30 AM, spent the afternoon in the parks, and had reservations around 8:00 PM. The problem with our reservation time was that it was super backed-up by the time we got there and had to wait until around 8:45. By the time we sat down, I was miserable and really just wanted to get back to our room and sleep, so I really didn't eat anything or participate all that much. I usually have a lot of fun at CM, but that time was not one that I really wanted to remember.

If you guys are doing a lot of running from one thing to the next all day, I would skip it, but would definitely not make a final decision until you get to WDW. You can always cancel if you get there and decide that you guys are too tired. However, I would recommend that you all should try to take a nap on the plane so you can experience it. The food is nothing to write home about, but the experience is definitely worth it!

I would def. keep it. We always enjoy Chef Mickeys, even if the food is terrible, getting things kicked off with Mickey and the Gang sounds like a great plan.

I'd keep it. It's pretty late so you will have time to unpack and look around before you go eat. Have fun!

We've got the same exact plan and I'd keep it! What better way to get immersed in Disney than have dinner with him??

We're due to arrive MCO at 10:20 AM. I figure we'll be at BLT around noon and then we'll walk over to the Magic Kingdom. We have dinner reservations at Chef Mickey's at 5:30. I don't care if the food is horrible! I don't care if it's loud, chaotic, etc. This is Kate's first trip and we're goin'. :)

Thank you all :) I will keep the ressie, and just have a late start the next day. I'm too excited for DS 11 months to meet Mickey!

I would plan to eat at what ever resort your staying at. Better safe then sorry.

Well, it's actually a pretty lousy meal - but if option otherwise would be stay at resort and eat at the food court or something... I'd stick with Chef Mickey's. What better way than after traveling all day to start your trip off with the characters! I know we're a miserable, hungy bunch on our arrival day - but put us in a character meal and woohoo, it hits us, we're in Disney!

otherwise, I'd suggest taking a trip to DTD and doing something there instead of Chef Mickey's.
