Should I get a Peg Perego Pliko?

I have heard these strollers recommended on the boards. I have an opportunity to get one with a missing wheelcover. I can't find any specific information on the net and have emailed the company but haven't heard back. Has anyone had to replace a wheelcover and know how expensive it is? Or where to get replacement parts like that? Any other advice on reconditioning a used peg perego pliko stroller would be appreciated. If I get it my game plan will be to use if for about a year with a child that already exceeds the 40 lb limit. Thanks.

Call Peg directly and check with them, you can usually get spare parts for not too much.

I have a Pliko P3 that we love, they are great sturdy strollers.

Also, the weight limit is higher than 40 pounds, with the step on the back it's reported to hold up to 99 pouinds, I saw plenty of older kids riding on the back and toddler in the seat. DS stopped riding on the steps of our old Pliko at 6 simply because he was tired of me bumping him in the tush with my knee.

Good luck!

Thanks for the info! I feel better about getting it if I can get replacement parts. Its a Pliko Matic Shepra w/o the "P3" like yours; what does P3 mean? I'm sort of assuming those are the stronger ones or something. 99 lbs! That's amazing, that would be great!

If it's a Pliko Sherpa it's one of the newer ones and should have the steps on the back for an older child to ride on.

The P3 is a redesign for 2003/2004 the handles are angled and it has a tray with cup holder and snack areas. I've had several Plikos before the P3 (Pliko, Pliko Sherpa, Pliko Completo - lots of choices, same stroller)

What I've learned is the European strollers tend to have higher weight limits but are marked lower for US safety standards. All the Plikos have the higher weight limit. Several years ago they had a twin side-by-side that didn't have a published weight limit at all and is known for being super sturdy - all of the Peg Perego's are!

Great information, thanks!!! I just bought 2 used ones for each kid (4 & 6). It would have been nice if one had a basket but I can't be choosy in the used stroller market! The Peg Perego website mention using "light grade oil" on all moving parts. Does that mean WD-40? I guess the next thing I should work on is connectors to turn them into a double stroller when that would be convenient. Thanks again for all the information.

just an fyi - connecting two plikos together will make it much too wide to fit thru any doors.

i use a dry silicone spray on my stroller wheels (found at any hardware store) , wd40 will attract dirt so i don't use it.
