Should I do online Check in???? Never tried it!!!

We check into SSR next Wed. the 14th?? Our only request is Grand Stand. Is it worth trying?????? Do I have anything to lose?? Our plan is to check in around 2:00/3:00 that afternoon. Any advice??????????

The only dissadvantage of on line check in is the inability to request a specific room location at check-in. As of January the only requests avaliable were Handicap Accessible and Ground floor. (This may have changed).

This means you could be placed almost anywhere including Carousel. If you do standard check-in you can ask for them to show you general room location, and if you don't like it, request a room change on the spot.


Whatever you decide to do, have a great trip!

This was not true on our last trip at the end of May. We did online check in for the Tree House Villas and we had requested a water view. We arrived early in the day and there was a room available but not a water view so we passed and they had our room ready later. I've used the online check in twice with no problems. I'm not sure how much faster it is but they do have all your paper work ready which helps.

I used the on-line check-in for our May OKW visit. It worked great. All of the paperwork was ready for us in a little packet. We had put in a request for a certain type of room. When we arrived they had a room ready for us but not the type we requested This really was fine with us. But if it had not been they just assign you something later on that best matches your request. Just depends on how set on your request you are and if you want a room ready when you arrive. I would suggest doing it. Did definitely save time!

You can do it both on the phone and online. Making requests are never guaranteed but we've had good luck with it.

When I made our ressies for SSR I requested the grandstand section via phone.

Online there are only a few fixed things like close to transportation. You should make your request with MS and then skip that box when you do the online check-in.

I had a bad experience with online check in at AKV right after it started - we checked in at 9am and had been preassigned a room that was not ready until after 5! I'd always done well checking in early and getting the first available room. I was scared to try it again.

But - gave it a try on the epic trip and was 4 for 4 with rooms ready at the time we stated we'd check in - 9 - 10am. . I felt like 2 of the 4 rooms were in primo locations.

We did the online checkin in June for AKV and OKW. The place where you ask for your room request was not working so for that I simply called MS. Online checkin seemed to work really well this year. Last year no one was at the dedicated online checkin window so we had to stand in the regular checkin line. This year it was not a problem. I would use it again.

I have always done online check in since it has been offered. Its worked out great every time. No complaints at all.

I read here on the dis that DVC memebers cannot make on-line requests. I was not able to when I did on-line check-in back in March, but did not care since I had already reserved a Lake View at BLT. We were able to check in at 10 am during Spring Break...not sure if that had anything to do with on-line check-in, but I would do it again at BLT. But, since SSR doesn't have room categories, not sure if I would chance it since I always want a certain location there.
