We both HATE THRILL rides! We like everything @ Universal STudios, those types of rides. The extent of the "thrill" we can handle are:
Thunder Mtn. Railroad
simulator rides

Didn't even try Space Mountain, too scared if there are any drops!

SO WHAT IS LEFT FOR US TO DO THERE?? (no kids, so don't need kiddie stuff)
thank u!!!:earseek: ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo

IOA is a spectacular park to soak in the atmosphere, it is one of the best-looking theme parks out there.

Seuss Landing, is their "kiddie" section, but 2/3 attractions are tons of fun in my book, so they're not to be missed.

So if you can do simulators but hate drops these are what you should have no problem with:

Spiderman
Bluto's Bilge Rat Barges
Flying Unicorn
Poseidon's Fury
Sinbad Show
Storm Force Accelatron
1 Fish 2 Fish
Cat in the Hat
Caro-Seuss-el

If you can handle Splash Mountain (you didn't specify) add:

Jurassic Park
Dudley Do-Right

That only leaves out Dueling Dragons and Hulk (if you can handle splash mountain- which if you can't, give them a try, the drop really isn't bad at all)

So, yes, you should BOTHER with IOA, IMO.

IMO, unless you have 2 park access I wouldn't "pay" to go to IOA since you're not a thrill ride seeker and no kids tagging along. ;)

I don't have kiddies and we don't like thrill rides. After reading the fodors and frommers guides (and more) we'd only want to ride..

SPIDERMAN

Is it worth another $50 each to ride it???

:hyper:

Absolutely! Spiderman is the best! My Mom and her partner don't like thrill rides but they both loved that one. Besides that, the theming is alot of fun. Poseidon's Fury is great as well!

If you purchase one of those 5 day Bonus passes, it won't be an additional $50 and you'll have the option to go back to Universal too!

Yes to the original question.

I would definitely go. Have lunch at Mythos! It's out of this world!

Spider-Man is worth a lot. It's an amazing ride. Also, I agree with Slacking, there are still lots of non-thrill rides that are available that are quite fun.

I think you will want to do a lot more than just Spiderman. I visit IOA with a friend who HATES thrill rides. She loves IOA. She even went on Jurassic Park ride because you can't see the drop. The only "thrill" rides are the three big coasters and Dr. Doom. Ripsaw Falls has a big drop. Other than that, you can enjoy everything!

I would just go...there are things you can do even if your loathe thrill rides. As has been mentioned here...

Spiderman (of course!)
Popeye's (if you don't mind getting soaked, but there are no drops!!! Just do what me and DH did...we bought Woody Woodpecker parkas...and I hate that bird!)
In Jurassic Park, the attraction where you encounter a Triceratops is neat. Plus,I would STRONGLY advocate you ride Jurassic Park, even if you hate drops. It's spectacular and utterly worth it.
Poseidon's adventure is a GREAT attraction....kind of like a show, but way cooler.
You could try the Flying Unicorn...that's a mild rollercoaster.
The Dr. Suess Land Rides!!! I always go on: the Carousel, One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish Blue Fish, and the Dr. Suess Ride, which is very similar to Winnie the Pooh at WDW.

Not to mention the great places to eat...Mythos, as someone before me has already said. It's FANTASTIC. Plus, it's a beautiful place to explore, shop and wander. I would go.

You may be suprised with IOA its a great themed park and am sure u will like other attractions as well esp in seuss landing
:jester:

My gal won't ride Dueling Dragons, Dudley Do-Right, or Doctor Doom (hey, we're working on building up her tolerance, okay?). She rode Jurassic Park once (which she loved, not counting the last ten seconds or so) as well as Hulk (in a futile attempt to prove that she wasn't terrified - looking at the ride photo, you would think she had gone into labor).

The point? We've been to Islands of Adventure more times than any other park in Orlando. More than Magic Kingdom, more than Epcot (keep in mind, my cousin works for the mouse so getting into those parks is free...).

Why so much IOA? Because it's absolutely worth it.

You're gonna have to pony up the extra fifty bucks and find out on your own.

This has me rolling with laughter. :teeth:

As for the OP, I would not miss IOA for anything if only for Spiderman and the gorgeous theming. I was awestruck by the theming in Lost World and Jurassic Park plus Suessland is so cute.

Cat in the Hat is a cute ride and the water tunnel in Poseidon's adventure is very cool. Do you ride Splash Mountain? If so, Jurassic Park and Dudley Do-right should be fine. Also, if you can walk through the Dueling Dragons queue. It's pretty neat and don't worry, there's an exit before the ride itself.

I think you should go for it. Especially if you are getting a multi-day pass. By the way Space Mountain is not a big deal. I don't think there are any real drops. It is pretty tame, just a little rocky. If you can do Woody Woodpecker or Flying Unicorn you can probably handle Space Mountain. My 5 year old loved it! My 2 year old loved WW and FU, so that should be no problem! We rode them over and over. On JP the anticipation of the drop is a lot worse than the drop. It is really a neat ride, a must do.

Agreed about Space Mountain. I wouldn't call that one a thrill ride per se. It's a tame rollercoaster and there aren't any drops, only dips.

I think you'd enjoy it.

The Islands are superb......yes you should bother to visit........the presentation is very different and even if you don't like coasters, there are lots of attractions to visit!
