Should I be worried about my dd? (AKA the naughty Barbie thread)

So, dd8 likes to play games with her Barbies where Ken is the bad guy and captures them, but I've never seen one this until this morning: Lined up on her dresser are 4 Barbies, hands bound behind their backs, and feet bound together with tiny hair rubber bands. :confused3 She says they're all captured and being held prisoner. :confused3

Do any of your kids do this?

My kids are boys - no Barbies for them.

Although - yes, they DID do this with their wrestling figures, power ranger guys, etc.

On this note - I vividly remember doing some seriously wacky weird things with my Barbies.... as wacky and weird as your daughters thing, this morning.

I think it's okay.... I havent went out and kidnapped (yes, one of my lovely Barbie playtime scenerio's) anyone..... yet. :stir:

OH! And be prepared.... I see many, many, many "Your daughter needs counseling, therapy, blah, blah" posts a'coming (where's a *crystal ball* smiley???)

I was as young as your daughter and my friends and I did this. Maybe Im the oddball... but I swear to you, it was just imagination...not future plans. :teeth:

That was my first reaction, too. but I remember doing the same type of thing, I just usually had the Care Bears or My Little Ponies come along later and rescue them and beat the mean old Ken.

What type of cartoons does she watch, too?

My 3 year old puts her little Disney princess's in dangerous situations..Belle fell off the table and cinderella rescued her etc. The princess's also like to hide in plants and floral arrangements.

Did I make the plural correctly? My mind is shot today?

I am pretty sure my barbies played movie star, doctor, mommy and had the kidnapping, bank robbing, secret agent scenarios.

I would probably just ask her to explain her played out scenario to you.

As I got older with with my Barbies, Derek (the rocker, never had Ken) was well, how should I say it, he was the only male to a handful of females.

Don't worry. Eventually she'll cut off all their hair too. Didn't we all do that? :teeth:

L :rotfl: L ! ! ! Ahhhh yes .... My male to female ratio also lacked. To think of how old I was coming up with these rather X-Rated scenerio's!!!

Im almost ashamed to admit it ....but my 2 "couples" they swapped, swang...whatever you'd like to call it. I had swinging Barbies. :woohoo:

Ahhh - the good ol' days. ;)

I never liked Ken...there was always something about him. She needs GI Joe he will keep this from ever happing again. I used to steal DB GI Joes & jeep...before they shrunk them down to 6 inches. :moped:

Oh the torture I inflected on my Barbies, my poor mother only wanted me to have the nice dolls so she kept on buying them while I kept coming up with weird and deranged cases, scenarios and life events for my dolls. As of yet I have not inflicted the same treatment in my adult life as I did on my dolls, but then again I’m pretty young who knows what I may do tomorrow. :smooth:

LOL! I honestly don't remember doing most of these things when I was a kid! Except I do remember a friend who had Ken doing some pretty shocking things to her Barbies.

Dd usually has Ken, another Barbie or a horse rescue them. I'm not really worried about it, I mostly thought it was funny. I think the tying them up part comes from the Nancy Drew books she's recently started reading. Nancy and her friends are always being captured, tied up and left in a closet or something. :rolleyes2

ETA: guess I should've added this guy :lmao: to my OP, so everyone didn't think they have to be nice to me about it. Go ahead! Call me a bad mom! I can take it!

I did that too, but the hero always swooped in and saved the day. Then he got a REAL reward for his efforts. My Barbie should have had a red light outside her townhouse :lmao:

Mine too! I never got a GI Joe so I was stuck with Ken. Whenever Ken wasn't saving the day he'd pull up the the townhouse in Barbie's pink vette. When he got in the elevator....Barbie would be waiting for him. She was such a tramp ;)

I wouldn't be too worried... when I was that age I would pretend my barbie was pregnant with a pony :confused3

:teeth:

When I was a child (9 and younger...back in prehistoric days) all of the neighborhood kids would play Mighty Mouse. I was usually Nell, my best friend was MM, and her brother was Oil Can Harry. Other kids were other characters. I would frequently be tied up on sawhorses, and then be rescued by Mighty. We also played Peter Pan in a place we called Peter Pan Woods; we would spend the day being Peter, Wendy, Captain Hook, etc. with many hand bound plank walkings, being rescued from Tick Tock, etc.

I'm 55 and have never been into S&M, so I guess it didn't have any effect on my psyche. :rotfl:

My sisters and I never did this to our Barbies, we did it to each other :lmao: I remember many "prisoner of war" games where we bound the prisoners hands & feet. The "GI" would have to swoop in and beat up the "Nazi "guard to let the prisoner out. Nobody ever wanted to be the nazi, though :confused3

When they loose their heads you need to check back :ccat:

I wouldn't worry, that was about the age when kids' minds start coming up with all kinds of weird scenarios. I had a little friend who lived across the street from me at age 8. We used to pretend that she was a "bad man" who kidnapped me and forced me to marry him in a naked wedding ceremony. :lmao: :bride:

Now that I think of it, it's pretty twisted! But I am totally normal and respectable, I promise!!!
