Should all theme park cs locations let guests get drinks themselves?

. . . IF THAT STATEMENT IS TRUE... it really makes me mad . . .

1) Why should it make you mad that WDW gets Coke products for free?
2) Not just the syrup, but ALL the bottles of soda and water (such as in carts).
3) However, I did hear a rumor they now have to pay the bottle recycling deposit.
4) That is why it is Coke and not Pepsi.
5) Pepsi was the original soft drink, but wouldn't give it for free.
6) Mad or not, it is just business.

NOTE: In addition to Coke, anyone else who is a "sponsor" gives product for free. As an example, Kodak supplies ALL the park maps and guides for free to WDW. Nescafe and Nestle (same company) supply all the coffee and hot chocolate for free. We could go on-and-on-and-on. Do we even have to broach the topic of how much companies pay to "sponsor" a ride or attraction?

The water parks also sell cups like the resorts that are refillable. Any stories you hear about laws against the refilling of cups are wrong. Everywhere else has refillable cups as far as normal restaurants go.

Also Universal does a cup that you buy to get free soda all day. Although when you pay $8- $11 for a cup you are not technically getting free refills at first. If the cup is something you would want and would have bought anyways then you can look at the refills as free sooner.

I had no idea all other companies who are sponsors give WDW their items for free, however if Coca Cola does it then I guess it makes sense that the other companies do the same thing.

If it makes you feel better think about what they spend on fireworks each night. I think each showing of Wishes and Illuminations is about at least $50,000 regardless of how many guests are there. Not to mention the cost of running the rides, etc.

I do admit that I get frustrated that food has been fairly reasonable but they really get us on the drinks because (especially in summer) we need to drink lots of fluids. They have been better about allowing bottled water to come in your bags now though. YAY For that.

Think Free advertising. Although many of us develop our preference in soda very early on.

about the pop becouse I dont drink it. I like water. Anyway what is this about the fixin bar gone? Do I now have to say I would like tomato and lettace and onion on my burger please. I would think that would take up a ton of the cooks time to add stuff no wonder they had the fixen bars. Mum

Thank you for confirming what a lot of us already knew and on that topic I always say if every Cast Member keeps telling you they get the syrup for free, it must be true. So just because they might not work in accounting for WDW does not mean they are always wrong.

Very True :thumbsup2 . If any CM works long enough with the company they pretty much know the ends and outs of everything within the company to a point and your right not just the acct. dept CM's.

Why don't they allow guests to fill their own cups?

Because rotton people like me will get FREE refills. I wouldn't carry around the same cup all day or even from one location to another. But gosh darn, if I'm eating lunch and still thirsty 1/2 way through my sandwich, I would get a refill.

And now all the DIS rule-enforcers will condemn me to Disney hell.

I Think it's a decision for no free refills, or serve yourself.

I had a Cm tell me it was Florida law that they did not sell cups that could be refilled. If that's the case.. they blow it at the resorts. :rolleyes1
ALSO.. Do they have the Refillable cups at "Busch Gardens or Sea World" ?? They do at Busch Gardens in Va.. and as stated above... Six Flags has their system.

I'd like to think Mr Disney would have allowed self serve on the drinks.
( because sometimes you just want a drink , but you are stuck waiting in a line first to "ORDER" then WAIT for your drink to be Dispensed and Delivered to you.) Maybe have a drink only station at the CT service stations.

True.. that opens the window.. for abuse... but I think the Disney Corporation
could afford it.

Disney also sells refillable mugs at Blizzard Beach.. You have to scan your cup with each refill..

Personally I think they make so much money anyways that we should have some kind of set up for drink refills. Even if it is a bar code scan like at the water parks it would be great. Outside of the overpriced tickets the drinks would be their biggest money maker. Not just because they get the syrup for free. The syrup is so cheap to begin with that is besides the point.

You are constantly drinking water and soda in the park because you need to drink more. Where as at the water parks you stay cool in the water and do not need to drink as much. When I spend the day at the park I can easily spend $20 or more just on drinks for Me. Not my finace or any one else in my party. If I am at Epcot and have purchased Wine or beer to drink that is another $10 in water not counting the price of the beer or wine. Being nearly native to Fl though I tend to err on the side of caution as far as heat and dehydration go.
