What is the shortest length you have owned a contract? We bought a resale contract, now I want more points, not sure if I want to go for VGF2 direct, then sell the resale or just try for more resale. I cant find the resale contract I want right now, so Im probably just being impatient. We should have bought more points from the start....but we didnt listen......

I bought my very first contract resale at BRV so I could add on at BLT when it first started selling with less than the 160 minimum that was required for new buyers.

I sold that contract about 6 months later after adding on what I wanted. The most recent was BLT. Bought in July 2020 and sold it last summer, just about a year later.

If we werent set on wanting to stay at CCV around Thanksgiving/Christmas the whole thing would be much easier for us. Not having CCV at 11 months is something we are trying to avoid, if we add on resale right now, it will have to be another resort....I dont think I want to deal with trying to add more time on to our CCV reservations once the 7 month mark comes up because we probably wont get it. I dont know how people deal with have various resorts! I need a CCV fire sale.

That's why we have three contracts at VGF, same UY--two direct, one resale. One home resort, no hassle, other than bank-borrow as required.

We may add a small SSR resale for nothing but a cheap arrival one-nighter because we're uninterested in longer splits.

Maybe it's simpler not wanting any resort other than our much-loved VGF and definitely not wanting to juggle multiple UYs.

Oh yeah I definitely want to avoid multiple UYs! I feel like our UY is not poplar, maybe thats why I cant find what I need! Also why direct is inviting right now

A “cheap arrival one nighter” isn’t always a good thing. Moving out the next day means you’ll be homeless for several hours. Sometimes your room won’t even be ready by 4pm. Might as well start your stay at your “much loved VGF”

I had specific contract in mind as an add on, and had to search all the sites for a few weeks, but I did find the exact contract I wanted. Just keep swimming.....

If you are set on CCV for Thanksgiving/Christmas time period then why are you considering VGF direct? On the surface that sounds like a rather big mistake. Patience with resale is key. How many additional points are you looking for? And though not ideal IMO it isn't the end of the world to own 2 different UY's. If speed of purchase is important then I'd go with 2 UY's vs not owning the resort I wanted to stay at during the timeframe you mention. Better though is patience.

I will be selling my Dec UY contracts after our trip in May; so it will be 2 years after I bought them. I really should have gotten a Feb UY. I used the heck out of the points though :D

If we got VGF, we wouldnt get rid of CCV, we would just have them both. For CCV we just want 50 but if we add on VGF direct we would probably add 200 cause of the price right now. My head is spinning.....with the deadlines it just doesnt help. Then I think well maybe we just stick it out and hopefully the right UY comes along for CCV and see what the Poly direct addition will be like in a few years.

Not a difficulty for us as we drive to WDW so run our stuff over to VGF and stash it with bell services, park the car, and hop the monorail to the MK for ropedrop as we're very early risers.

We're familiar enough with our VGF home and the GF itself that we've plenty of cozy spots to eat, lurk and even sneak a nap until our villa is ready. Last trip, we got into it by 1:30 p.m.

Online check-in with a specified early arrival has worked more than once for us.

Your cautions are well-advised for readers not as familiar with WDW as we, though.

Then another question - why limiting to 50 points at CCV if 200 is on the table for VGF? I guess the main thing is - where do you really want to stay most of the time? I think it's fairly important to own at CCV for much of the year to book there - especially if you want studios. With all the resort studios being added to VGF it's likely to become more like PVB for 7 month availability and you'll get in there. Maybe just broadening the contract amount for a CCV resale will be enough.

About 9 months if the sale under contract now goes through. I Bought 100 VGF points in late July. Now selling after buying 300 VGF2 direct. Even made a little money

Patience with resale is key.

Very definitely true!

DH started checking the resale listings for a good VGF contract three years ago with a UY filter.

We only just spotted a contract that met our needs in mid-February this year and negotiated a bit for a price we could live with even if VGF2 went on-sale at RIV level.

Ended up paying $10 less pp than we'd have paid buying direct with the incentive. We're happy--and lucky, because it might not have ended so well.

Patience and persistence are essential.

But, if you know you want a resort currently selling and can afford that, go for it direct. Closing is soooooo much smoother and swifter.

If just us going, likely we will stay at CCV but when the family goes we will have 9-10 people so we will need/want a 3 bedroom. VGF only becuase of the incentives and my mom likes it.

Not a terrific idea, IMO, as much as those 200 points will cost if VGF isn't where YOU will want to stay more than CCV.

The multi-brs aren't ordinarily that hard to book at 7 months.

Seriously, put the bulk of your points where you love and will want to stay for flexibility: bigger than a studio, a longer stay, Christmas instead of September, etc.

I'll second buying where you want to stay. And CCV has some completely awesome GV's too. You'll be able to get CCV resale for less than VGF too. You may even get VGF with CCV points for those odd trips now and then.

Good luck with the hunt and the decision.

I know that 2 of the contracts that I have bought were owned for a little over a year before the owners put them up for resale.

We don't sell, we just add on. To sell at $120 and purchase resale at $145, plus closing costs, just doesn't make economical sense. Eventually, we'll sell the first 2 contracts because the kids - nor any other family members - want the annual bill. The last 2 contracts are for an older venue. The annual dues are low enough that the kids wouldn't mind having access to a weeks vacation for $600. Our first purchase was '08 and, yes, it was not enough points so we added on the next year, and again in 2013, and then in 2018.
