Short on points...what to do?

Nope, an add on isn't happening either....

Here's the story-
We're trying to plan our 2003 trip. We'd like to go the week of Halloween. I've looked at a few options for the use of our points. Option one is to spend the whole week in a standard view studio at BWV. This will use just about the number of current points we'll have in our 2003 use year. We're trying to avoid borrowing, as we've borrowed out heavily this year. Our second option is to stay 5 nights in a 1br.....spending our first and last nights elsewhere. We generally don't mind moving (look at my sig....we really don't mind it!) but I think I recall hearing that there are some fun things going on at the Boardwalk on Halloween night and the last night would be Halloween. So I'm wondering where else might be a cool place to be on Halloween....or if it would be worth it to maybe pay cash to stay in the same one bedroom that night.

We could borrow points....but would rather not always be borrowed ahead like we are now.

So, what would you do? Any thoughts or alternative ideas are welcome!

You could rent additional points from the rent/trade board to make up the difference you need.

Hi Lesley
Saw your post and interestingly my DH and I are going to be renting all of our 216 BW points (October 2003 use year) to finance our families' next Disney cruise. I haven't put them up on rent/trade board yet because we're not at the 11 month window. I would be willing to transfer the needed points to your account - if you're interested, please email me and we'll work out the details.

I hadn't really thought of renting points.....and after consideration, its not what we want to do this time. But I'll have to remember that in the future, if we ever get borrowed out too far and can't add on.

We've actually decided to get our first 2 nights in a studio (we're going to try to get in at BCV, though since we're using our VWL points for this we'll reserve that as a backup...I think it will be a good time to go to SAB, both weather wise and the ages of my kids by then) Then we'll move to a 1br at BWV for the rest of the week, including the Friday that's Halloween. We'll have to borrow a few points from our 2004 use year, but not nearly as many as we have borrowed this year.

Thanks for the ideas and the offer (though if I had enough cash to rent 200+ points, I think I'd do an add on instead!)

If I read your post correctly, you will be staying at resorts other than your home resort of VWL. Keep in mind that either BCV or BWV may be difficult to get at the 7 month window for late October as that's when the Wine festival begins plus it being Halloween. You might want to consider finding a BWV owner and offer a trade.

Actually, most of our points are at BWV....so no problem there. We will be using our BWV points at the BWV. We are going to try to get BCV on our VWL points....but we'll book VWL first as a backup. It's quite simple since the points needed are exactly the same and if we can't switch...we love it at VWL anyway!

Sorry I hadn't mentioned that we have 2 home resorts!

Thanks for the concern and suggestion!
