my son would like to buy a PS 2 in the states as the games are a lot cheaper over there .Has anyone done this do you have to get a converder or something to get them to work
thanks

I think you can probably get a converter in this country for the voltage. Shops like Dixons/Comet probably sell them.

We got one in America that worked the other way round to let us charge the kids GBAs

I think there are other differences you might want to consider. UK is 50Hz and US is 60Hz and also UK is PAL and US is NTSC. I think most TVs have a PAL/NTSC setting but I believe the wrong frequency can damage electrical goods.

I'm not sure you can get NTSC games in this country so you may have to resort to buying from US over the internet and may find yourself getting hit with import duty/tax.

Lots of risks involved so make sure you're making a good saving.

DH reckons there's a new PS2 about to come out so there may be some decent deals coming in this country - but then he reckons the XBOX is king

No, NTSC will NOT damage your TV. most dvd player converted play NTSC fine

The difference is the voltage, but if you buy a converter, just like going from 240 ac to 12 volt dc to step down from 240v to 220v.
