Was there any information on why he targeted the students in the dorm? Why Norris Hall?

More details on the killer:

- Name: Cho Seung-Hui

- 23-year-old resident alien of the United States

- South Korean national

- He was a Virginia Tech senior majoring in English

- Police has confirmed he was the sole shooter.

- After Cho killed two people in a dorm room, he returned to his own dorm where he re-armed and left a "disturbing note" before entering a classroom building on the other side of campus to continue his rampage.

- Cho's identity has been confirmed with a positive fingerprint match on the guns used in the shootings and his immigration materials. Lab tests have also confirmed that one of the two weapons seized in Norris Hall was used in the earlier dorm shooting.

no he didn't live in West AJ but he was a senior english major, so why he went to Norris seems like he was on a mission and he killed men and women. They said they don't know what he did for the 2 hours b/t they think he went back to his room, they don't know when he wrote the note. No one seems to know him said he was a loner....they are lot they aren't saying.

This is what I have found on the MSNBC site this morning.

“He was the wildest and most crazy person I ever met,” Allison Wood said on TODAY of the resident advisor — R.A. — who had gone to the aid of a resident in his dorm who had been confronted by her boyfriend. The boyfriend shot both of them and police believe he is the same gunman who went on to kill 31 more students and faculty at Virginia Tech University.

He's gone now, and not ever going to hurt anyone else.

But somewhere, there is a family who is in shock, disbelief, and horror. A family who lost a son that they loved, who was at one time a promising student as well. A family who could never have imagined this thing happening. And unlike the victims' families, this family will also have the burden of unbearable guilt and remorse. They are saying this young man was from South Korea. In many Asian cultures, family honor is almost more important than life itself. This man's family has not just "lost face" - they've lost EVERYTHING.

On the radio they were talking about a 76 year old professor that was killed, a holocaust survivor that blocked the door so that students could flee out the window. Heartbreaking, I don't even have words.

as we put faces on these victims today the grief will be unbearable. So very sad for all. There was a moment of silence yesterday also and I agree with the above poster who stated the "rot in hell" comment wasn't necessary either. Someone in their right mind doesn't do this.

Okay I just found this thread. I know my campus sent out an email to keep them in our thoughts and prayers. I know that many college students today are becoming Hokies in rememberance.

Evidence is stongly leaning towards that, but it has yet to be officially confirmed. A report I heard on Fox this morning appeared to let her first name slip (the reporter said one of the two people killed at the dorm was named "Emily.")

I am sorry for posting that. And you are right, someone in their right mind doesn't do that. However, I am upset and seems like there are so many people who are "not in their right mind" doing these awful things!

It's o.k. I think feeling that was is a natural reaction when something like this happens. Now that we finally have a name and a face, we have a place where we can direct all our anger. I won't post what I said to myself when beachblanket posted his picture.

when I saw his picture I was struck by how much he looked like any other college student. This could have happened anywhere, with an average looking kid blending in on any average campus across America.

CNN reported the death of a student named Erin. They were implying this waqs someone who died today, but I was understanding the message from the father as he had been waiting for news and just found out today that she had been among the dead. Has anyone else heard if the number has increased?
