So i am looking for a pair of supportive flip flops that come in white or the band being white and i would like to know what kind of shoes people here on the disboards wear in the parks? :) thanks:)

Ahh...this seems like a good place to add my question in with the OP's. Does anyone have a good recommendation for waterproof sneakers? I need to put my custom orthotics in my shoes so I have to have something with support and cushioning...but most sneakers get wet to easy and I am afeared of Florida showers and Kali river rapids!

Btw OP... don't discount crocs, they come in all styles (including flip flops) and are cushioning *and* waterproof <--- just not good for orthotics damnit.

:hippie:

After a lot of research, my family decided on Keens sandals. They are great because they are sandals but do provide full foot coverage. We have been breaking them in over the past few weeks to get ready for our trip next month and they have been awesome!!! :thumbsup2

I had the same question on here last year and a lot of people recommended Teva (the Mush model). I got some and they're pretty comfy. Still just flip flops though, which leave me with blisters eventually.

I have a clubbed foot (birth defect) and also had a traumatic injury to the same foot and have NEVER been able to wear flip flops for any extended time.....until I put on a pair of Crocs Athens style flip flops!! I walked all around Disney for our entire 7 day trip in those and it was HEAVEN!! :lovestruc:lovestruc They get my vote as the best summer shoes on earth! :thumbsup2

I like the Teva Mush flops - I do have to break them in though, but once I do, I can wear them as often and as far as I wear my tennis shoes.

I would suggest maybe not getting white though - I had white flip flops once and no matter how I avoided mud, dirt, puddles, etc. those things got filthy and you can never get them back to that pristine white color.

I'm a flip flop girl all the way. I have two pairs of Crocs Athens, but despite their comfort, from the first time I wore them to the parks I found them to be VERY slippery if the pavement was wet. I have converted to Reefs Fanning. They are very comfortable for the long haul, not at all slippery when wet, and come in different colors, not to mention the built-in bottle opener on the bottom. (LOL - I've never used it, but it's there if I need it :thumbsup2). They're pricey, but well worth it, IMO. Good luck!

My whole family wears Keens to the parks. It has worked out for many, many trips, blister and pain free. They are water proof, don't smell, and can be washed easily if they get dirty. They are also the most comfy shoe ever! We wear the Newports and the H1s. I'm pretty sure these are the model names, but Keen sandals can't be beat! My husband and I also each have a pair of their winter boots and they are very good as well. They come in colors for men, women and children.

my understanding is you don't get much arch support wearing flip flops. My podiatrist pointed me to sandals and said there are some good sandals out there with great arch support. I also wear orthodics, but I was able to find a sandal (waterproof) at the Walking Company that has 3 types of arch support depending on your feet. I have had them a few weeks and love them!

You may want to try sandals as you will get more support from them.

Fit Flops

I love my Montrail flip flops. I bought a pair two years ago and wore them to DL a few weeks ago. They were awesome. I also bought a pair of Sole flip flops but they gave me a blister on the bottom of my foot.

Both have arch support.

They are not cheap $70-$80 before taxes but well worth it. The Soles had a 90 day comfort guarantee so I was able to return them.

I've been trying to decide between Keen Newport's or Reef Fanning's. The only thing I don't like about the Keen's are the $100 price tag. Reef's are half the price but I would be worried about support after a week-long vacation walking around Disney all day.

My kids (11, 9 and 8 yrs old) wear Keens. I have Teva (kokomo) sandals, and they are sooo comfortable! I wore them all day at Busch Gardens (Williamsburg) and did not get one blister! Can't wait to wear them for our trip to WDW in August!!!

Whatever you end up getting, make sure you break them in before you go to the parks. New pair of shoes + Disney trip = recipe for blisters.
