I've read some posts where people have mentioned the shoes they have worn at the water parks. I have assumed this meant that the shoes are worn while on the slides/lazy river/etc. Is this true? Are the shoes worn because the walkways are hot?

Thank you.

Our family always wears watershoes at the waterparks
1. pavement is hot
2. pavement is rough
3 couldn't imagine using the bathrooms with bare feet

My DH always wears them cause his feet get tore up from the rough cement. The rest of us do not, we wear our flip flops to the rest room and to eat and such. :thumbsup2

we wear flops or bare feet...the pavement is hot...just there yesterday and saw many water shoes, bare feet and flops!

FYI Shoes can be worn on "MOST" of the slides. Cast Members will have you remove your shoes when riding any of the body slides (Summit Pummit, Humunga Kowabunga, etc). You can wear your shoes in the lazy river and on all the innner-tube slides/matt slides. It is also highly recomended that you wear shoes because the walkways are hot :furious:

I wore those water shoes as well. Was easier on the feet I found. I did see people walking around bare foot and they looked like a cat walking around when they have wet feet :lmao: plus if you go to typhoon lagoon and do the wave pool it keeps them from scraping on the cement bottom.

In case we go to the water parks, I bought a pair of water shoes for $7. I also used water shoes when we went to Typhoon in '94.

There's no way I could walk around BB or TL without some type of shoes :sad2: ...We wear the Nike sandals that are slip on and stretchy.

Yeah we made the mistake of not wearing water shoes in 2001. Ooouch!! :sunny: :furious: .We will not be making that mistake this time. I would not consider walking around the waterparks barefoot unless: a.) You walk barefoot all the time and are used to hot pavement or b.) you enjoy the feeling of walking on hot coals.

On the rides that you can't wear shoes, what do you do with them then? Do they let you hold them going down the slide or do they tell you before you line up to remove them? Thanks!

I was wondering the same thing... I can picture sending our shoes down ahead on the slides... :teeth:

Yes, they let you hold onto them when you go down the slide.

A friend of mine was at TL and was told she could NOT hold her shoes, she had to walk all the way back up and get them.

On the other hand, I made the mistake of walking around BB without shoes - never again!!! :firefight

Well that's weird because when we were at BB last year, we had two people who were wearing water socks and both we're allowed to go down Slush Gusher holding on to them.

We always wear water shoes. Just a couple of times last time at BB, we were asked to take them off going down a slide. We were allowed to hold onto them. We definitely will be using our water shoes again this fall.

How about Teva sandals? Has anyone worn Teva's on the slides (not the body slides), in wave pools or lazy rivers at the waterparks?

Thanks!

My DH has in the lazy rivers at both TL and BB. The only downside is the tan line :rotfl:

My question is dumb but why can't you wear the shoes on the ride? At BB on that family ride with the inner tube can you wear shoes on that? I will not do "puke it summitt" - I would pee my pants.
