Shockingly Good...

It's didn't happen at the parks, but on the Disney Cruise in Jan of '02. My son, then 5, was and I guess still is quite a Peter Pan/Captain Hook fan. He was enjoying the Oceaneer's Club a lot, but we were scheduled to go on an excursion so he had to leave. That night at dinner he was terribly upset because he thought Captain Hook had visited the club while we were out and he'd missed him. I mean, he was really bumming!

The next day we were out again and when we got back to our stateroom there was a note for our son from Captain Hook!!!! It said that he was glad our son was sailing with him and he was to be a good sailor or something along those lines. My son's smile couldn't have been ANY BIGGER!!!!!

Sometimes I wonder if the magic of Disney is my imagination . . . maybe I'm too caught up in it and that maybe there are other places with the same kind of magic. Then I read here and remember our experiences and know that yes, there are other places worth seeing, but THERE IS ONLY ONE PLACE TO FIND THIS KIND OF MAGIC and I'm not crazy to be sitting hear getting misty reading these charming examples of Disney style!!!

These posts are why I love Disneyworld sooooo much!

Thanks for posting these everyone!

I second that!

Once, a CM was nice enough to actually e-mail the lyrics of the Rio del Tiempo song. Hilarious, obscurely informative, and a very nice thing to do.

I spent my bday in WDW, and stayed at ASMO, and it said on the reservation that I would be getting a phone call from Goofy, but the evening of my birthday rolls around, and no call, so I call down to Guest Services to mention to them, and they asked who my fave character was, and I told them Tigger, and here I was thinking I would get a call from Tigger, a few hours later I was laying down (the beginning of a cold), and there was a knock at the door, and my mom answers it, there was a CM with a balloon bouquet and an autographed photo of Tigger and friends and a birthday card!! We deflated the balloons to bring home, but it sure put a smile on my face, being sick and all!!!!

In June, we ate breakfast at Ohana (character meal.) We usually do Chef Mickey's, but since we were staying at the Polynesian, we decided to give Ohana a try. We loved it! Anyway, they do games and stuff with the kids. At one point, they asked all the kids to come get a maraca and all the characters led the kids in a parade around the restaurant to "I Just Can't Wait to be King." My DS loved it, but the thing that choked me up was Mickey at the end of the parade holding the hand of a shy little blond girl who looked to be about 3 years old. She was very slow and he just took his time and went her pace. (I think the parade actually lapped them once.)

It reminded me of the commercials you see on TV of Mickey holding some kid's hand at the Magic Kingdom. It was so precious.

And btw, my DS loved being in the parade and now Ohana will be our new character breakfast from now on! You even get a picture there now just like at Chef Mickey's. :)

I have two bus driver stories, both from 1985. On a late night trip back to TTC after the last Hoop de doo, everyone was tired and the bus was SRO. Going thru FW the driver starts telling stories about ghosts and hauntings. In a particularly dark spot he starts flashing the lights and screaming! It was really funny!!

Another driver leaving EPCOT started doing trivia on the way home and I will never forget the question: What does EPCOT stand for? Employees polyester costumes of torture!!

They really do make the magic something to remember!!

Kudos to the drivers!!!

DH and I had a magical moment in Feb., we were celebrating our 2nd anniversary. We made PS's at the Rose and Crown at 7:30, hoping to get a good seat for Iluminations. When we checked in, we politely told them we would be willing to wait for a seat outside, but if we didn't get it, it's okay. The greeter (Ross) gave us the standard "we'll try our best, no promises", as we were walking away, he wished us a happy anniversary. We took the pager and waited to be buzzed. As soon as we walked up, Ross and the CM who took us to our table, started giggling--we knew something was up. We got the best table on the patio, right in the middle--we had perfect seats for Illuminations! They even asked the lady who was sitting there, if she would mind moving, she was finished eating, but was waiting for Illuminations. I couldn't believe that. As soon as our server came out (Kerry--amazing), the first thing she did was wish us a happy anniversary, and then she brought us a champaign toast on the house. It was an incredible dinner and we had fantasic seats to view Illuminations. Disney magic at it's best. :)

The first time we ate lunch at the Garden Grille, the place was quiet and we were all tired and husband was cranky. Mickey Mouse and Goofy were teasing my son who had pulled his arms out of the sleeves of his t-shirt. They made such a huge deal about his missing arms it was laugh out loud funny. So, when my son popped his arms back into his sleeves Goofy acted like he fainted. It was too funny. Minnie Mouse (I think) sat down with my daughter and was playing tic tac toe. It was one of those lean back in your seat and wonder if the trip could get any better moments. :smooth:

Our magical moment happened January 2002. My then 3 yr old DD wanted to see Minnie so badly, but the line was out the building for her so we got in the line for Cinderella... Chip and Dale were in the room too and they made such a big fuss over her, she was still upset though since she hadn't seen Minnie yet and the wait was killing her. I had told her we would come back later that day when the line was shorter. Anyways the CM overheard us and she, along with Chip and Dale escourted her into the next room where Minnie was. My daughter was the happiest I had ever seen her and she had the full attention of Minnie, Chip and Dale!

Gee, there are a lot of great stories out there! Last year, while staying at the Poly, we took the boat back to the resort. Well, we got on the boat and there was no driver. We waited about 10 minutes for a young, somewhat chubby kid to come running up the dock in his wide striped shirt. Just the way he looked made us smile, but when he started to talk to us all, we were in stitches. The frustration of the wait vanished as this kid kept on like a stand-up comedian all the way to the GF. He recognized some of the people getting on the boat at the GF and they were excited to see him. His “routine” was so funny that when we got to the Poly, we stayed on for a ride back to the MK. He kept us laughing the whole time, and in our circle tour from the MK, to the GF, to the Poly, back to the MK, then GF then Poly, he never told the same joke twice. I’m telling you, that guy should be on stage somewhere. DW and I got our picture with him before we got off the boat, and unfortunately never saw him again during that stay; but, I have a feeling I may see him again some day. People that talented should be discovered, and at WDW, he’s got a good chance.
