I just bought park tickets online through the Disney website and the order confirmation says I should receive them by Feb 17th.

Our trip isn't until October and the reservation number is already linked to my MDE account. What are they shipping now? I thought magic bands didn't go out until 30 days before the check in date or something like that.

Do I need to go ahead and customize magic bands now?

TIA.

They are shipping an old school plastic card you can use as a backup. Not everybody stays on property and gets a magic band so they still ship these to everybody.

For future reference I believe you can select will call and possibly save a couple of bucks.

Yes. You should select "Will Call" as the option.
No postage charges.
In fact, if you have MagicBands, there will be no need to actually pick up the tickets at Will Call

1. The actual tickets (which you really do not need at all.)
2. No. (Although you certainly CAN do that at any time. There's just no rush to do it "right now.")

Actually standard shipping was free so it didn't cost me anything.

Thanks for the replies. Actually, I chose standard shipping which was free so it didn't cost me anything for shipping.

Also, if they are sending old school plastic cards can I just use that instead of a magic band or is the RFID card different?

You can use the plastic RFID tickets in place of the MBs.
There will be just a few things the ticket won't activate (like the automatic connection of on-ride photos to your MDE account,)
but for the most part, the tickets will work interchangeably with the MBs.

Wonderful. Thank you so much.
