For those of you who pre-ship packages to yourself before your vacation. . .

What do you send and how much does it costs to ship it? What do you send? What carrier do you use?

I was thinking of shipping some groceries for an upcoming trip but I am debating with shipping costs if it would be cheaper to a.)have the delivered b.)rent a taxi for that day or c.)ship them.

What has been your experience?

We just sent a BIG box that was big enough to hold all of the stuff we wish to put in our new Owner's Locker. It cost us $70 to send it UPS, but that's because it was very heavy, and we wont ever have to do it more than this one time.

We ship "snack" stuff and breakfast items pop tarts cereal...usually UPS, cost us $12.00 last time and shipped enough stuff for 2 teens for 7 days was waiting on us when we checked in. We have also shipped down Christmas tree and decorations that cost $15.00pirate:

I just did this this week! On Tuesday I shipped a box of toiletries, first aid items, curling iron, hair dryer, small fan, small flashlight, etc. to myself at SSR. It weighed 23.38 pounds and it cost me $18.03 to ship it via UPS. It arrived today and will be waiting for me when I get there next week. :cheer2: :yay:

I ordered groceries separately from Garden Grocer. I mainly ordered breakfast & lunch type items along with some snacks. Our order came to $89.66 for the groceries, $12 for the delivery fee and I added a $20 tip - grand total for groceries for 4 days (2 adults) $127.49. I also ordered small room service/single service condiment type items from Minimus Biz and had them mailed to myself at the resort. That order cam to just under $40, but some of those items we will be able to store in our OL if we do not use them up. Same with some of the grocery items - bottled water, etc.

Just last week I shipped a box down of breakfast foods and snacks through UPS Ground for $16. That's about the charge for taking a taxi one way to a grocery store.

There has been a strong rumor that Disney will be charging to receive and process packages sent to Guests. The fee will be based upon package size.

Since the airlines started charging for luggage, the number of Guests shipping boxes to the resorts has increased significantly.

I shipped water from Costco - 24 bottles on cosco's website for around $6-$8....

when I got to BCV for December XMAS, I had to pay Disney additional $5 to get the package.

THis didn't happen over Thanksgiving, and I was told that was because shipping had now been outsourced so there would be charges based on package sizes added.

I don't know if this is for all the resorts, but it happened at BCV.

I went from Dec 30th to Jan 6th and shipped Gluten Free Food for our daughter. The package cost alot as I didn't ge it done early and had to overnight it and was waiting for me at check-in. No extra charges from Disney! It worked out well!

I was going to ship some snacks and such, but it was cheaper to order from Gardengrocer.com and have it delivered to the room. I even had a bag of ice delivered...

I ship sunscreen, many bottles of it.

Has this been confirmed?

If you ship, make sure you do not use the postal service as it will get tangled up in the WDW mail system. Use a carrier such as FedEx or UPS and ship the package to yourself, care of the resort, and mention your arrival date. Make sure you use the street address for the resort. Here's a list of the street addresses. The Disney resorts are under "D."

I haven't seen any firm evidence that resorts are starting to charge for packages shipped to incoming guests. The convention resorts have a charge but that's been around for a while.
