I can never find anything with the search :sad2:

How far in advance do you ship boxes to your resort? I'm leaving Tuesday, 5/19, and thought I'd take them to the UPS store a week in advance. Is that enough time? Do you use USPS ground or UPS? TIA

UPS Ground. Go to the UPS website and look up the shipping time. I have found that it's better to have the box arrive the day after we get there. FYI - Convention resorts now charge to receive boxes.

Thanks :goodvibes I knew about the hotels charging, but I thought it was all of them, so I'll be thrilled if OKW, VWL & BCV don't (at least for now). It won't work for my boxes to get there the day after we arrive since our air bed and 90% of our supplies are in them :scared1:

Try to schedule delivery for just before you get to the resort. We have found that the earlier your box gets there, the greater chance that it will be misplaced or moved to another storage area. We like the "just after we get there" schedule because they call and bring the box to your room when it arrives.

I'm sure that you will be OK. :goodvibes

We have mailed boxes for our last trips and it was great. We mailed them out one week before we left and they were there when we got there. I would not wait until the day after, but that is just me.

Does anyone know the amount the resort charges to recieve a box prior to check in?:confused3 I was thinking about sending one down before we arrived as well.

At the CR last month they charged $5 to receive a 25lb box. Later that week my DW received an overnight envelope and they charged $3.

I am going to try mailing a large box for the first time later this month too. I have priced USPS Parcel Post and UPS so far. UPS is several dollars cheaper and you can send it 2-day ground so in theory you would only need to allow 2 days. We're going on Fri. 5/22 and I think I will send it on Mon. 5/18. That gives us a little cushion and I can track it to be sure it DOES get there by Wed. Priority Mail thru the P.O. was ridiculously expensive. I have not priced Fed Ex yet... I am happy with the price I got from UPS and there's a store about 1.5 mi. from where I live so I think I shall go with that.

When I called SSR to inquire about whether or not there would be a fee for them to receive it they said no, and advised me to address it with the name of the person on the ressie and to note our arrival date & also to use our ressie # on the pkg. somewhere.

I found that fed ex was cheaper than UPS

Is that for a 2-day guaranteed delivery like with UPS???? How about insurance? Did that include any insurance?? The price I got from the UPS people included insurance for up to $100 on the contents...

Do not use the US Postal Service to mail any packages to any resort at WDW. The packages first go to a central area for sorting then to the resort. It will cause a delay in your package arriving at your resort. You will be better off sending it UPS or Fed EX. That way it will go directly to the resort.
