SHIP OF FOOLS SISTERHOOD - Strong & Healthy in 2005!!!

Hang in there Denine, must have felt frustrating. I agree with Tracy, lots of things can affect your weight. Once a month when I went to WW I had to pass on the weigh-in due to hormones. Also when I ate Chinese food or Taco Bell (no longer can eat this food!), the salt just made my weight go waaayyy up. Stay with it, you will be glad you did!

Arlene, your dh is just plain MEAN!!! How nice for him to eat all that good junk food and not get any repercussions on his body externally!!! Tell him to lock it up and do not give you the key, lol! He must eat in a room when you are away...ha!

How is Lara feeling? You OK?

Mel - you've got so much new stuff on your plate so just keep trying! Bet you are "moving" more with your little student?

Take care all!

Barbara

Just take smaller portions then Melinda. I'm so pleased you're trying. Just don't eat it. It reminds me of the song from the Lion King. Can you feel the Love tonight :)

Have a Disney Day!!

Cheers,
Grumbo

Well sisters, I've began exercising - albeit in "babysteps."

I walked the park for ten minutes two days in a row, stretching beforehand, leg/bottom exercises afterwards, then more stretching. I felt more awake this a.m. too! Did not get up at 5 a.m. yet though, but at least I moved!

I tried pelvic tilts yesterday instead of situps. NOOO!!! Had to take 1/4 of a vicodin last night for pain. :( So, today I did not do these. Physician says it will take 1 year to be completely healed. Does that mean I cannot do situps for one year??? Maybe I'll do pelvic tilts at night before I go to bed, then my body will rest. Don't ever have abdominal surgery, it's the pits!!!!!!!

OK, enough whining. I am just very happy that I moved more these past two days. I'm taking it just a little bit at a time...this body of mine really needs a tune-up, more like a major overhaul!!! :)

GRUMBO, go back to your cave!!! We want the old Grumbo back, Doris see some of your previous posts???!!!

I'm confused....what is this thread?? Is this the Diet Challenge 8/20/05??? If so, I want on. My motivation is that I don't want to have to tell the baby that she can't swim in the Mickey pool in August cuz mommy's too fat and can't put a swim suit on. I started Jenny Craig yesterday. I'm starving!!!!!

Hi jweiss,

Yes, this is a get healthy and strong thread for our cruise, with the fringe benefits being able to wear a swimsuit, LOL! WELCOME!!!

There are lots of good tips and support on the previous posts. Glad to have you here with us!

Linda: you can sign up and weigh in at Discoveryhealth.com
Discovery Health :: Homepage (hope the link works)

It's called the National Body Challenge... but it closes at midnight tomorrow (1/20) Once you sign up online (free) you go to the "gifts" and print out the certificate for Ballys. Take the certificate to the club and you get an 8 week trial membership for free. You can sign up Robert too just use a different email etc. Good luck!! It started Jan 15 and runs until March 12. Joe and I have been going every day. :earseek:

I signed up for the Discovery thing. There is no Bally's in New Hampshire, so that "gift" didn't do it for me. You also get 8 weeks of ediets free. If I bought all the food on the grocery list for the week, just for me, it would have been at least $200.00. And there was a lot of food that I won't eat on the meal plan. I am just going to stick to smaller portions (a la weight watchers) and cut out the breads, sweets, etc as much as possible. One thing for sure, depriving yourself of things is no way to diet. If you totally cut out all the "bad" stuff, you will probably give up quick. Which is why WW, JC and NS work so well, no deprivation.

I wish the roads would clear off and the air temp get to at least freezing. No walking when it's icy!

I looked at the site and is only good for US Residents! That counts me out!

Too Bad, 'cause there is a Bally close by!

Oh well, will you guys to keep guiding me!

Since it has been very cold here, I've been Mall Walking after work!

One Problem ~ The Freakin' Sales have reaked havoc on my Credit Card!LOL

Oh well soon the sales will be gone! I hope!LOL

I make too many stops when I walk there too! So ... any "walking" at Square One??? Anything I should check out at the D-Store? LOL

DH and I are going for a romantic weekend. I will try to stay with healthful eating and small portions, but it won't be easy. We get a bottle of champagne in a basket of goodies, plus some chocolate covered goodies, plus dinner out Saturday night, plus 2 mornings of breakfast at the B&B.
Next week doesn't look good for the scale either!

Welcome Jennifer. This past cruise in October, I wore a bathing suit, but I kept my cover-up on!

Shopping: That is the biggest problem with mall walking.

Mall walking is not an option for me. No driving with icy roads, either. Not that I am a wimp, but my car has zero traction. It was meant for looks only! If DH had bough a treadmill instead of the bicycle with the seat from HELL, it would be different. If I ride the bike for 30 minutes, I can barely walk for the rest of the day. Not a pleasant feeling. But the good news is winter is 1/3 over! And it can only get better from here. (As long as I don't see the weather forecast)

Exercise a bit more, and cut back a little during the rest of the week and just enjoy yourself. I'm sure Grumbo has some words of advice.

Don't forget to keep track of your starting weight. We're tracking to see the total loss each month and just before the cruise.

Ok, some of the things posted around here are funny, but this one had me busting out laughing at work. I'm getting dirty looks from the attorney across the hall!

The truth is I really have to force myself to exercise. Especially now when it is cold and nasty outside. So, I have signed up for a college credit swimming class. This mean at least one day a week I'll get moving. I also plan to use the college gym for an hour before my legal ethics class. Has anyone tried "8 minutes in the morning? " I am wondering if it works.

Dropping my daughter off at disney was not the diet buster I thought it would be. My biggest downfall, southern sweet tea!!!! I did manage to avoid all fast food. Mostly, by packing a supply of water and veggies for the trip down. My biggest revelation, I can push away a plate when I feel full. I used to feel guilty about wasting food I'd paid for. It seems more wastefull to consume calories I don't need and pack on pounds that will hurt me in the long run.

Good for you to sign up for the class. Swimming is great for the heart, too.

How long will your doughter be in WDW. I think it is a great experience for kids to be not just away from home, but in a working environment that might not be as "Magical" as we think it is.

Good for you! :cheer2: :cheer2: Congrats on signing up for the swim classes! You also did really well on your recent trip to WDW.

Being able to push away a plate is a real accomplishment. As a former member of the "Clean Plate Club" growing up, I know what a valuable lesson that is.

I bought the "8 minutes in the morning" book, and even bought the handweights. Now I just need to get up 8 minutes earlier! :earseek: LOL
