Hi RCers. I am home from a wonderful WDW trip. Our Poly stay was very nice. We had a nice Tuvalu 3rd floor room (3406) with a great Castle view. Yes the rooms show a little wear but it was easily overlooked, especially knowing this was our last visit for this "look" of room decor. ...Crowds were all over the board, sometimes light, sometimes heavy.

So now our newest 2012-2013 resort plans are: BWI for November and CR Dxl for March, and Poly refurb for August 2013. Sept hasn't changed for one night at WL.
Welcome home.....I want to incorporate Poly into April now....I was going to price GF, but DH keeps saying he hates the weird smell...I LOVE THAT SMELL :guilty:

I just made the MOTHER of all changes.
Congrats on the cruise!!! And I see you now have more ch-ch-changes...what a great price :flower3:

deena When are you & DH headed down...next week already? :cheer2:

Well......I am doing Poly CL, so it's really only fitting that you have a couple of nights at WL CL. You're gonna LOVE it!!!!
She will love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Candace...I am so close to a WL/Poly split, or GF/AoA....:scared:

That is not what I wanted to hear! But if I were to change, which resort should I book? Last time I stayed in either of those resorts I was 12-13 years old and traveling with my family, so its not like I really paid attention. Oh DH is going to have a field day when he hears what I want to do. Especially since I am the one who pushed to cancel our Beaches vaca so we could save some money.

Melissa
:rotfl2:

Okay looking into the refurbs. Lots of speculation on timing and just what is being redone. I think I'll pass on the Poly for Jan. So now we are between CR and POR. I just showed DS(9) the rooms at CR since he has all the sensory issues. he LOVED the way the rooms looked and has always loved the Contemporary when we go through it on the monorail. Oh what to do, what to do???

CR !!!!! :upsidedow

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pixie Dust and Magic, Magic, Magic! :goodvibes

We are at YC. BEAUTIFUL UPGRADE alert. Wait for it..... Wait for it.... From my multiple windows and balconies I can see SAB and the boardwalk. I can hardly believe my eyes. I am taking pictures of the suite and the views. I haven't stopped crying yet.....I feel so blessed. :lovestruc. Had to share it here first. Got to go....DH is saying "are you seriously stopping to post on line......" Had to share this with my RC sisters (and occasional brothers).

You deserve all of this pixie dust!!!!!!

This isn't the 2BR King suite is it???? The CMs at YC are super nice...I am so happy for you!!!!!!

And my DH says the same thing.....he knows all there is to know about my RC family whether he likes it or not

We arrived Saturday at BLT and we just love it, but we're still looking forward to moving over to WL tomorrow morning for breakfast in the lounge. DD doesn't want to ever leave though. It's easy to get used to two bathrooms, a whirlpool tub, W/D, the monorail and walkway and 1000 SF on vacation. But, DH is missing his cobbler and fresh pineapple and I'm looking forward to seeing all the wonderful CMs and that beautiful Lodge
I'm sorry I don't have time to go back and get caught up right now, this is the first time I've sat down in the room since arriving. But I did notice Step's GINORMOUS pixie dust surprise:goodvibes. I know that Janet can't do an update right now, but I hope to see her soon and get one in person:thumbsup2. BTW, is this the same room Nurse Perdue was forced into? :crutches:

WHATANUPGRADE!! I would have loved to see the look on you and your family's faces when you realized where you'd be staying (I had this look last August;)). Something tells me you won't be changing to the CR:worship:. It was meant to be that the CR wasn't available by the time you called:goodvibes

I was thinking the same thing about the suite  SO meant to be they at at YC!!!!

Hope you and DH & DD had a great breakfast at OFC!!!! You're home today my friend :cheer2:

I guess DD is too young to stay at BLuT alone, huh :scratchin

UGH...completely stressed right now. DD3 woke up crying saying she can't walk on her right leg. She won't even try, and when I try to bend it she cries out in pain. She seemed fine last night, we were at DD8 soccer game, and she was running around and at the playground. She said she tripped on a step at the playset, but at the time she didn't cry or come running to me at all. Going to the DR. soon to see what is going on. I am imagining everything right now....broken leg, sprained knee, wheelchair at Disney....:sad1:

I will check in later.
pixiedust: Hope it's a sprain...kiddos bounce back fast....good luck at the Dr.

Also, met Janet B last night briefly. What a sweetheart!

Heading to Epcot this AM then flying home. Boo! Poly was great but we won't be doing CL again. The crazies checked in over the weekend and sent me over the egde :(

Janet is SO So sweet :grouphug:

Sorry about the crazies...:sad2: Safe trip home:goodvibes

I have a couple of really nice photos of Janet and the girls, but not sure if it is okay to post...will ask and post if it's okay! IF I can figure out how to get it from my iPhone to the DIS! :confused3 :rotfl:

They are having a great time and have met a few DISers! :thumbsup2

(agree - she is a sweetie!!)

Candace I woke up at 3am and couldn’t fall back to sleep, so decided to research the Poly refub a little more and thoroughly went through Tikiman’s site and some of the comments on the boards and decided that the first weekend in Jan is just cutting it too close. But I am thinking we will definitely plan a visit over to the Poly to check it out and then plan on a trip once all the refurbs/construction is done.

Jenny OH NO!!! I hope she is okay :scared: Hopefully she is just sore!! Fingers crossed for you. When DD was 2 she was body surfing on a little tykes car and fell, she seemed okay but a couple hours later went through the same thing and wouldn’t even walk on it. After a trip to the dr and some motrin she was good to go the next day.

i_heart Enjoy Epcot and have a safe flight home :)

So lots of thinking last night and searching and not sleeping and still don’t know what I want to do. I told DS(19) what I was thinking but told him I didn’t know how to approach DH about it. So at dinner somehow the Poly came up and DH asked if that is the one we pass that on the monorail (he is so NOT observant), so DS says “speaking of monorail resorts” while I had just taken a sip of diet coke, I almost lost it all over the table :lmao: So I look at DH and say I am thinking about booking the Contemporary and he doesn’t flinch or even start the conversation. Not sure if he didn’t hear me or just didn’t care

With all the thoughts swirling through my head I have come up with a list of questions for the experts:

1. I keep reading that CR is not kid friendly, but I see campfire and movie under the starts on the activity sheet. Has anyone felt like the CR is not kid friendly?

2. When do the resorts take down the Christmas decorations? I was thinking since it will be the first weekend in Jan, if the decorations were still up we could take the monorail to the different resorts to go “sight seeing”

3. If I am not booking a theme park view, is it still worth it to stay in the tower?

4. Switching trips now. I have a GV room booked at the YC for Sept (and Oct) and was thinking about calling and requesting a wedding gazebo view. Does anyone have a better suggestion for the YC?

Thanks ladies for being my sounding boards, advice givers and volumes of resort knowledge :goodvibes

Here's the problem...We called to make Feb 2013 reservations at POR using the military discount about a week after the discount was released. We were told that all the moderate resorts except the cabins and CSR had already booked up the military discounted rooms. DH is too much of a penny pincher to do deluxe although we can afford it, it's just the way he is. So we booked CSR. I just can't seem to get excited about it. I've read the entire CSR thread and there are as many bad reviews as good. I hate not having a double sink. Our other option is SOG again but I really want to stay at a Disney resort, I missed the theming last year. We have been told we can keep trying but is it likely anything will become available. I'd pretty much rather stay at any other moderate except the cabins, I need my double sinks, lol.

Was there a piggie family that we often hear so much about over there??? :confused3

Many, many, many piggie families. I thought the poor CMs were saints the way they handled the craziness. Plus Hawaii has been at 100% occupancy since Sunday and you can totally feel he difference since last week.

1. I keep reading that CR is not kid friendly, but I see campfire and movie under the starts on the activity sheet. Has anyone felt like the CR is not kid friendly? Not sure why they would think that - my kids absolutely LOVED the CR - on our first stay they were 7 1/2 and 9...and I've stayed there with a few 6 yr olds. They love the monorail going through the resort, Chef Mickey's, even the shops! And with the walk way to MK it is just about perfect!

2. When do the resorts take down the Christmas decorations? I was thinking since it will be the first weekend in Jan, if the decorations were still up we could take the monorail to the different resorts to go “sight seeing”

Decorations begin coming down after January 3rd and Osborne lights end on January 4th, so it will likely be hit or miss over the next weekend.

3. If I am not booking a theme park view, is it still worth it to stay in the tower? Although I know many love the Tower TPV, we see it as a glorified parking lot view and far prefer Bay Lake View. It is so peaceful and pretty! Many guests prefer BLV as well - but it is a personal preference.:thumbsup2

4. Switching trips now. I have a GV room booked at the YC for Sept (and Oct) and was thinking about calling and requesting a wedding gazebo view. Does anyone have a better suggestion for the YC? That is a pretty view! We also like the back courtyard view where the entrance is from the docks...but right now cannot recall how that would be requested. We have some YC experts around here so I am sure you'll get some great suggestions!

Thanks ladies for being my sounding boards, advice givers and volumes of resort knowledge :goodvibes

Melissa

CR was refurbed just before the Poly so it will be showing the same wear and tear - but I'd probably not stay at either until after a refurb since both are due! If you don't require a room for 5, WL is in the midst of a very nice refurb...which is definitely calling my name! :thumbsup2

Planning is so much fun!!!:cool1:

Hi KristiKat,
Are you calling a couple of times a week to check for availability? It changes.
CSR is ok, but it's huge. It's helpful when you call to avoid limiting the reservations cm to one view or resort if possible. Consider asking for the military discount at POR, or POFQ any room. They'll tell you what's available (if any) and you can decide yes or no, then.

What is wrong with people????
I actually tried to drop club level an it's a no go... No reg rooms available under mil discount!!! DH said its a sign to just leave it the way it is.

If your DH is ANYTHING like mine..he is probably so used to cha-cha-changin...that is doesn't get jazzed for a particular resort...

As for CR, as magical as TPV is...the Bay Lake views are amazing...and peaceful! We visited CR and IMO it is kid friendly....monorail, pool, beach, kids activities....walk to Mk, plus you can boat to WL/FW and do some activities over there. DH & I decided our kiddos wouldn't like the decor, but if DS likes it...go for it. The Garden rooms are right next to the pool, but you're doing January right????

I would keep checking...things open up all the time...even last minute!!!! :welcome: What about AoA??? It's a value, but I would stay there in a heartbeat over a mod...but I like the values more than the mods...you also could try WL....very reasonable deluxe:flower3:

I tried back again today and was able to get POR, :cheer2: I'm so excited now. Woohoo!!!! Best day ever!!!!!

Wow some of you were right on...the Dr. said it was most likely these 'growing' type of pains, and to give her ibuprofen or Tylenlol. Well, seeing as by the time we got into the office she was walking normally I felt like a complete fool. But I took the opportunity to get DD6 her 4 - 6 yr vaccination that she hasn't had yet. She did awesome, barely a flinch.

So again.....thank you all! I can't believe the power of you ladies sometimes...:grouphug:

Christine Thanks for your input :goodvibes I am bummed that the decorations come down so fast. Most south Florida schools don’t go back to school until Tuesday so it is a perfect time to get a 3 day weekend in. We have been years that they have kept the lights up through that weekend, so my fingers are crossed. I’ll look into the back courtyard view at the YC for sure! As for WL, we have 4 nts booked there in Feb :thumbsup2

KristiKat YAY!! I am so happy you called back and got POR. We stayed at CSR once and DH has vowed to never go back. It is the one and only time I wrote a letter to WDW and now I cant even tell you why anymore :confused3

Jeanette Yeah we are going in Jan so being close to the pool does nothing for us. And yep DH knows I am going to keep changing and he really could care less where we stay. He would rather the value price range but he is finally understanding that I am trying to actually have us experience the resorts and not just run through the parks all day, so he is going along with my decisions. He said last night if he doesn't say anything that he can just blame me for what he doesn't like :p

Glad she is okay :goodvibes I hate that feeling of getting to the dr just to have what ever you are there for go away. But you can never be too careful. Each time my kids have had an allergic reaction to something I would bring them in and by the time we got there the welts and rash were gone, so I learned to take pictures on my phone and bring them with. My ped laughs at me but thinks it is so smart so she can actually see what I am talking about. I had to take DS(9) to the ER a couple weeks ago for a high fever after anesthesia and I was sure that by the time I got there the fever would be gone and they would just send me home seeing as that is always what happens. That day the fever actually got higher instead :sad2:

Thanks, I don't feel so bad.:flower3: I guess if I didn't take her, and it was something more serious I would be kicking myself. The worst part about the whole thing was the wait!!:rotfl:

Question for anyone here...if we go to WDW from Nov 14 - 17 2013, how much of the x-mas decorations can we expect to see? I am hoping most of them will be up by then, but I am not sure. And I really don't want to move this cruise again!! But of course I will if I really have to....

Don't feel like a fool! That happens ALL the time, trust me! And we never make fun  Better safe than sorry!!!

That sounds like my DH!!!! Except lately he has been VERY vocal about not wanting to go back to GF...which is my favorite....although I do LOVE WL

Hello ladies! :goodvibes

Still in Michigan with the hubs and Miss M but managed to turn on my ancient relic laptop so I can attempt a somewhat real post now.

Jen: Yikes! Hope it's nothing serious. EDIT: This has taken me so long on this dinosaur-with-keys, I'm glad to see she's fine!

Pas: Which smell is it that your DH doesn't like: Poly or GF?

Ginny: Did you recover from all that laundry yet? :laundy:

Step: Yeeeeeah on the upgrade! Fabulous! :cheer2:

Hannah: Yay, glad you got your ressie!

Padawans: You and Jen talking about SWW! I'm very :scratchin now. Hmmm. Is there a "lighter weekend" crowd-wise?

Magic: Glad you had a wonderful vacation. :goodvibes

Melissa: Sa-weeeet, another BoG ressie! :goodvibes I'm curious as to when the resorts take down their Christmas decorations too; we're down that first weekend after New Years. If you happen to find out, let me know! :thumbsup2

I_Heart: Sorry to hear. Sounds like what we experienced at Poly's CL last year. I felt so bad for the Lounge CMs as well; people were constantly on at them for things. :sad2: Hope everything else was wonderful though. Have a safe flight home!

Kook: How's that cobbler?!

------------------------

A big :grouphug: to everyone...

I'm holed-up in the hotel here where my hubs is chairing a conference (Michigan State). Feeling a bit ick so hiding away in the room. Poor kiddo's going to wind up going insane stuck here with me! :crazy2: We did head out yesterday and watched the marching band practicing for a bit, good stuff. Half-priced drinks at a place across the street last night, too -- good ol' college towns. :thumbsup2 Now, I know what you're thinking and the half-priced drinks have zero to do with me feeling ick today, HONEST! :rotfl:

Okay I just got off the phone with Disney reservations

POR is now changed to CR, requested room as far away from Chef Mickey as possible so the noise doesn't bother DS.

Added Wedding Gazebo view request to YC and North Wing to the WL :thumbsup2

The CM was super sweet and at the end of the call asked if I had BoG reservations yet, I told her yes but without the CC guarantee so she put me right through to dining. The CM at dining said yes everything is supposed to be okay without the CC guarantee but if she could get me the same time as I had booked she would feel better making a new reservation with the CC. So she looked and said I am sorry I don't have 6pm, but I have a 5:55pm, and laughing asked if I would be okay with the change :lmao:

So that is all done and I am good to go. Now I just have to wait for all the freaking discounts so I can really go :rotfl2:
