I have a cruise question!!!! We are working on final details...is it worth it to have the verandah??? It looks really nice, but obviously costs extra...but it's like added space to the room...and...what are the differences in the decks??

Hi Mousemommy! I entirely agree with Amanda. The verandah is entirely worth it for us, even though we're very "on-the-go!" The ability to go out on the verandah in the mornings or evenings (especially when the kids are still sleeping), to have a little extra space and to have an amazing view and fresh air all the time - these are big advantages for us. Like Amanda's husband, I would not be able to cruise without one. And like Amanda's family, we were on Deck 6 on the Dream. On the Wonder next month, we'll be on Deck 8. I do think we'll prefer the higher deck just to be near the pools/beverage station/breakfast.

Thank you!!! :goodvibes I'm really excited to try out BC, even if it's only for 2 days. Hopefully, I'll be able to check out SAB for at least a little bit with Reid on the Saturday we're there. Are there any areas of SAB that is geared towards the younger kids? I really want to do our 2014 trip during Star Wars weekends, so I'm considering this "resort research" for that trip. :rotfl: Seems like it would be best to stay at an Epcot resort if we do go for SWW. I really like the thought of being able to walk or take the boat to DHS with Reid on the night of the race.

Amanda, I'm so glad you asked! I created an SAB thread last year! Just click here: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2790323. Scroll down to parts 3 and 4 and you'll see the areas that are perfect for Reid. One thing I love about SAB is that the zero depth entry / sand bottom area stays shallow throughout and is not connected to deeper areas of the pool. Our 5-year-old loves those kiddie sections of SAB, and our older boys still hang out there quite a bit too. :) When we stayed at BC after our cruise last August, I took a photo of the boys in that area that made it on the Christmas card - they're just so happy there!

WOW! This is awesome info! Thank you so much! We just decided to not go to DTD on our 1st night so that we can stay at BC & have more time in SAB. So, this is very helpful! :thumbsup2

Awww, I bet that made the cutest Christmas card. Great idea! :goodvibes

Amandaw and Pixarmom : Thanks for all the great info about the cruise! We are going to be in stateroom 7600 with verandah too. DH wanted one, and hey..whatever makes him like the cruise more is all good with me!!::yes::

Amandaw: Nice move with BC! Never been but it looks amazing!:thumbsup2

You're welcome! The only way I could get Ed to agree to try a Disney cruise in 2011 was if I (a) booked the shortest amount of nights and (b) booked him a verandah. Like you said.....whatever makes them get on the ship & like it! :rotfl: He was so reluctant to try a cruise but we all fell in love with it. I've considering cancelling our cruise for next May a few times but Ed insists that we go on it! :goodvibes

Thanks! I'm very excited to check it out.

Amandaw: We are waffling about going for SW weekend in May...Not sure about funds, and if we don't we could add more days at WDW in Nov after cruise. We would really need a discount to go in May too. :guilty:

Guess its a guy thing!!! :rotfl: DH is the one who wants the verandah too! I actually just got off the phone with CRO, pricing out my resort options. I can get 10% off for my dates for POR and AoA - hey it's something!!! Hoping for a continued mil discount or AP discount that's a little better...

How quickly do the cruises fill up??? I am thinking I will book in about a week and just give my bank accounts a chance to settle before I shell out another $900 in deposits between the cruise and resorts....:sad2:

MM: I don't know how quick they book up, but they seem to increase the prices every now and then when you least expect it. :crazy2:

This is the one reason booked the cruise, (and then changed the date twice) at least if you book, and then need to change for some reason you can do so. We booked with Dreams Unlimited. :)

I hear ya! These trips can really add up fast. We were going to go for a short trip in Feb for the Princess Half Marathon but I think our checkbook needs a vacation from our vacations. :lmao: I was thinking of canceling our cruise in May so we could just do the parks. I really want to go for SWW. But, I think we've decided to do Star Wars stuff in 2014.

Have you thought about doing a land/sea combo in May that way you could still do the Star Wars weekends? :confused3

That's too funny.....the guys want verandahs!

Hopefully, a bigger discount will roll your way! I'm hoping to get some sort of a room discount around our May cruise since we want to do a night or 2 at Disney, too.

I don't know how quickly they fill up. I would think the new ships fill up the fastest. But, I also agree that the prices increase the closer & closer you get.

Amandaw: Good plan about May, but we really want to see WDW decorated for X-mas, also the ship (maybe?). SWW is an extra trip that we are trying hard to budget for. We'll see how it all plays out. It might end up being 2014 SWW for us too!;)

I understand completely! And WDW is so pretty decorated for Christmas! We used to always go the 2nd week of December. But, started changing it up last year.

That would be cool if we both ended up at SWW in 2014!

On a side note: 45 days to go!!!

Now off to work I go!! :flower3:

Woo Hoo!!!! :dance3:

I was so excited to finally get right under 2 months today!

I just requested a quote from them, since I know virtually nothing about cruises...

But I also know virtually nothing about how a travel agent works....do we pay them, or do they receive commission from Disney for trips booked???

Looks like booking through them, there might be an onboard credit ($50?)... I guess since adult beverages are not included, DH would find that credit to be nice...

:thumbsup2

I use photobucket, but I'm sure Kookerific or janet would be much more helpful. Is the PTR up already, I don't want to miss a thing :goodvibes

BTW step, you have inspired me to attempt a PTR. The link is in my signature...it may stink but all good...it'll keep me from changing....

I typed up my PTR in "Word" so that I could edit like I wanted to and I thought that I could cut and paste onto the boards. I'm not sure if this can work or not. My DH is the computer nerd....:lovestruc so I'm going to ask him to help me.

From what I've read and seen in pics, there's a kid slide and pool area on the back end of the pirate ship where the huge slide is. There's also a zero depth entry wading area with a sandbar type place for them to play as well.
pixarmom did a great thread on this :thumbsup2 Nice and contained for little ones!

Yeah, I'm a little OCD.
One of the many reasons I love ya girl!!!!!!!!!!!

I right along with ya for a May discount...I really want to take the kiddos for F&G:flower3:

Good luck step...I did the 1 st post super quick, and then added 2 "placeholders" Then did a lot of editing...Glad you stopped by  Can't wait for yours !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hi everyone! :grouphug: I've been around, just very busy this weekend! I've been scouring my neighborhood for SUMMER clothes for Florida weather....and having a very hard time of it. It doesnt help that I wear plus size, and have two stores in my area to choose from....everything is WINTER/Fall stuff now! In JULY!!!!! I've only found two skorts, and a couple tops. I'll have to look and see if I can find a couple shirts/and shorts from last Yr......I think I may have 2 pairs. I truly didn't think it would be so hard to find clothes this time of Yr!
I need a new bathing suit too! (ugh) but I think I'll wait until end Aug and hope there may be a sale because I really don't want to pay $100 for a bathing suit! :sad2:

My itinerary has changed a bit overnight, thanks to a tip from a disser that there was a great groupon offer on Sammy Duvall parasailing at the contemporary! Regularly $95 a flight down to $57 :thumbsup2 I bought three flights, one for ME! :scared: and one for my boys. I had to cancel our breakfast at KONA Cafe for our first day in order to fit the parasail in....we have to meet at contemporary on the 29th of Sept at 9:45 am, and hope to get all three of us up without to much issue! We chose to put it on our AK day because I can probably get through that park in a half day. As long as we have from 12-6pm I think we should be ok

I'm sad though because I really wanted to try the macadamia nut pancakes :) I'm trying to figure out where else we could put it. Epcot day on Tue Oct 2....prior to heading to Epcot , (but we have sunshine seasons planned for lunch and Teppan Edo for dinner, so I think food wise we will be pretty full!)
OR our last day prior to leaving for Universal, and getting picked up from our town car service. HOWEVER, this would be Paid OOP, and we have a counter service credit I was going to use for captain cookes for breakfast that last day.
Don't really know what to do......pay OOP for breakfast! OR use our remaining QS credit???

Parasailing...wow Marie! Good for you! You must win best mom ever award!

As far as breakfast goes...I vote pay OOP... Maybe you can burn up that QS credit elsewhere?

AWW thanks Jenny! :wave2: I don't know about best mom, LOL....but I AM trying to make this trip exceptionally special! it's pretty jam packed now 9 days, 6 of them at Disney, CLUB level POLY, one of those days at Discovery Cove, MNSSHP, parasailing, cabana rental at POLY, and Cabana rental at Discovery Cove. AND then 3 days at Universal /HRH Club level . I almost feel like I've committed us to so much stuff we won't have time to be leisurely! I am hoping the day at DC will allow us relaxation. UNI won't be late nights touring due to Halloween Horror Nights and early closings (5pm for The studios, and 7 pm for IOA).

I took your advice and booked KONA OOP for our last morning at Disney prior to being picked up for Universal :)

Wow! Looking back at that all makes me tired, :upsidedow
