I promise to catch up with everyone at some point but I need a quick vent ;)

My DH is down in a designated smoking area with his evening cigar as I sit on the balcony (kids are out cold). The LOUD family next to me comes out to their balcony and lights up a cigarette. I had to go inside. I hate to be the complainer, but I did call the front desk. I know there is no smoking on Disney Resort balconies and I want my kids to be able to come out here whenever they want.

PS - our view for Illuminations is unbelievable :) I can't imagine a better view from this resort than the one I have now!

Competition went well... thought it looked pretty good for the first one of the year.

This is my son's second year and he loves it. He wasn't too sure about continuing when he got to high school, but we said he should try it and then decide. At our school, band is band, everyone does marching and concert. There is no extra fee, aside from the clothing that goes under your uniform and concert attire. They usually go on a trip, but that is not mandatory. Last year Virginia Beach, this year Orlando. Great for him... not so great for the rest of us. We had already booked the Thanksgiving trip and there is no way we can go again at Christmas:(

Hope your daughter has a great year and that she has fun :thumbsup2

I totally agree with you on this and would have done the same.

This trip just keeps expanding! :crazy2: I was watching America's Got Talent (PVRd) with my DS 16 when BLUE MAN GROUP came on....DS16 quips "I've always wanted to see them!!" well......he's 16, we'll be IN UNIVERSAL, who knows when The opportunity will present itself again??? FUN TICKETS ORLANDO has 40% off limited time tier 1&2 offer ($46 per ticket VS $90 reg price) :confused3 hmmm, what's a mom to do????
:thumbsup2 BOOK of course!!! :faint: it's never been something I've particularly understood (blue/non talking people) but it seems to get rave reviews! So I'm taking a chance......and DS16/ DS20 should at least enjoy it! Our arrival night at UNIVERSAL (THUR OCT 4) now includes us attending the 8pm show ::yes:: I hope I enjoy it!!!!!

Do it!!!! We saw them last year GREAT show. You will LOVE IT!!! Did I mention how much we loved it. :thumbsup2

That's very upsetting. I am a reformed smoker (;)) and the smell of it makes me sick. Seriously I smelled smoke walking into work at 8:30 this morning and I can't get the smell out of my respiratory system. I would have called to complain as well. I don't mind smokers. Freedom is what this country is all about, but if you're going to smoke please adhere to the posted signs and confine your habit to designated smoking areas.

PS- why are they always RIGHT OUTSIDE building entrances? I swear...the people who designated these areas wasn't wearing a thinking cap when they assigned them.

Not a clue whats going on with this thread. I've just been too busy. Sorry.:headache: I just got home from work and we are flying out in 11 hours. We're checking into AkL cl on monday for 1 night. Not a clue where we are staying tommorrow. It will be a Hilton somewhere with my Hilton honor points. I guess I'll figure it out when we get to Miami. I Have to get up at 4am to finish packing.:crazy2: Everyone getting ready to leave have a great trip.:cool1: I'll be offline while at WDW, but I'll give you thoughts on the resorts, and the cruise when I return.

DH and I used to both smoke and it was years before he picked up a cigar again. But he always respects those around him. He would have loved to sit on the balcony with his cigar but he knew the rules and went to a designated area instead. I was afraid if I didn't call tonight then my kids would be sitting in the balcony bagel in hand and gave to go inside due to the smoker next door. Oh and DH did see that there was a designated smoking area on the map right outside the door, but didn't see an ashtray and figured it was moved away from the buildings.

When I smoked I always made sure I wasn't bothering others with my cigarette, even in a DSA. If there was a family taking cover from the sun in a shaded smoking area, I would move further away from them or wait till I was near another one. I wish others were as courteous. :sad2:

Good morning! Posting from the road in Virgina. :drive: We left yesterday afternoon and got to N. VA at dinner time. Hi KOOK :wave2:, we were in your neighborhood (relatively speaking) last night! We travel the inland route, 78-81-77-26 and pick up 95 in South Carolina. 100 miles longer trip but we avoid traffic, especially the Balt/DC area and it's a beautiful drive. We are driving almost 12 hrs today, stopping for the night just over the FL border. Then tomorrow is 3 to 4 hrs to WDW depending on traffic. :cool1:

Babyberger, glad you got your room sorted out. A view of Illuminations from thus balcony :goodvibes.

Miss, are you busy packing ?!!!

Hope everyone is having a good weekend!

Great to hear from you! I waved at you last night:wave2:

What an interesting route you take. I'm sooooo tired of 95, but extra miles might not go over well with DH. Make sure you get out of the car often today - it's a long day for you. Let me know if you decide to stay in Brunswick, GA - the new hotel we tried was fantastic. Are you stopping for Krystal Burgers later? I know where all the Sonics are, too:rotfl:

A lot of people from NJ take this route. We have done both routes, but with traffic I95 takes as long. Let's see the Blue Ridge Mountains or Pedro signs for South of the Border :confused3. We have a room tonight at Holiday Inn Express in Yulee, FL but would be interested in your hotel information for our next drive! Almost to NC, hi :wave2: Minnie&Nana

Dani I am with you about the placement of the DSA although when I was "one of them myself" ( Oct will be 3 yrs smoke free for me) I was happy the DSA were right near the entrances but people should not smoke on the balconies and Disney does need to enforce this as there is nothing worse than going out there and smelling that stench drifting towards you. YUK Big time !

Have a safe & wonderful trip Sarah only route we ever took was 95 and I hate it!

So I made this super duper totally awesome spreadsheet that I am TOTALLY proud of to compare DxDDP vs OOP. DxDDP totally is winning right now. Since my mom doesn't really eat a lot (definitely not $100 a day!) I have devised a plan to not buy the plan for her. Tell me what you guys think.

I book the kids, my dad, and I for the package (room, DxDDP, tickets). If I add my mom when we get there she won't be able to use ME, so I will book her a 1 night room only to get her on the bus. When we check-in, she will also check-in for her one night stay. The next day I will add her on to our room and then add her on our ME for the return trip. I will just pay for her meals OOP because she really eats like a bird. Clear as mud? ;)

Happy Sunday to all. :goodvibes Just trying to check off a few more things on the list ... whilst watching a bit o' football and trying to avoid watching my fantasy score. :faint:

One More SLEEEEEEEEP!

... and we get to meet Jen & Sarah and their families later this week!

Miss M is expecting to go straight to Beach Club. Not sure when to say, "Uhhh, we've got a couple nights in a different hotel before the BC." We could keep the ruse up right until we hop off the ME, since I think they share with Port Orleans. I'm sure the Royal Room with the fancy bed will be a hit and she'll momentarily forget about SAB. :hyper:

Safe travels to you, Sarah. I hope the traffic is light and the drive and weather are good for you. You're almost theerrrrrre! :beach::goodvibes

Melissa: Bleh, sorry about the smoking issue. Has it been resolved now? Some people and their lack of consideration for others... :rolleyes2

Do it!!!! We saw them last year GREAT show. You will LOVE IT!!! Did I mention how much we loved it. :thumbsup2

thanks Padawans! I'm Hoping I'll enjoy it. We got our seats emailed to us last night, a mere 3 hours after I booked! Tier 1 Section2, Row G dead centre, seats 20-23. Most of what I've read people have said they prefer dead centre of the theatre over front row/poncho area.....it's about 11 rows back, so not too bad I guess!

DANI: your plans sound GREAT!!!!! Why pay big bucks for someone who nibbles.....I would LOVE to do Deluxe DDP, but I think they'd have to roll me out of there after! I would rather pay the extra money for club level.....I'm already scared about how I'll manage to not gain 10 lbs next week on just the BASIC ddp with Club level!!!! Disney food is just too YUMMY!

Hi Pas! You too? I just keep going back and forth. Is your reservation BWI CL?
I can't remember if I responded or not ....:headache: Yes BWI CL!!!!!!!! I also think DS11 will want to swim, he loves that BWI pool...

Everything is better with bacon. I think I need to make this for DD's birthday next month:

Bacon-Birthday-Cake.jpg

You haven't tried BWI yet, right? Yes, I've lost track... You need to try it if you haven't, but are you doing CL?
I almost changed to GF, but I think being close to DHS for DS11 will be great, and he will be happy anywhere...keeping CL for now....

had to show that yummy cake again too...

:) DH and I ate lunch with my my cranky DD (10 months) at Fulton's at DTD today. After I inhaled my food before she had a meltdown, my DH and I decided that we would ask Grandma and Grandpa to keep the baby in February or March and we would fly down to the WL for a long weekend. SO, that means we'll probably do the Poly in September or November with DD instead of WL.
Natalie, DH and I had a WONDERFUL weekend at WL together!

Hello to everyone and happy Friday! When will you be out of that awful boot, Jeanette? Are you still working two nursing jobs?

Silly rabbit, of course I am....

I worked Friday night transport, Saturday day shift Pediatric ER, Sat. nite transport, slept all day, at transport job now.......

Kiddos off tomorrow, so I am thinking, rest, cartoons, pancakes & bacon....some more rest!!! Ankle is in a splint and MUCH better!!! MRI soon...if I ever make the appt....

April is starting to look official.

I just need to sit down and talk to my dad and see if he is coming or not. He likes to say no and then at the last minute say yes he wants to come.
:yay:

And not only cranky hungry husbands...but husbands that are "sick". Mine got a sinus infection this week and you would have thought he was breathing his last breath.
Oh yeah, I hear ya.....:scared:

Okay, I totally don't think it's a coincidence that last year when I made my ticker it was exactly 7 months, and it was again today!

Hi ladies!!
Hi Jen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All checked in at YC, we were upgraded to water view!!!!!
Nice!!!!!!!!!!!!:cheer2:

We had a blast at MNSSHP last night!! I know lots of RCers are in WDW now or soon!! I wanted to open the invite to PM me if you want to meet up!! I get my schedule for the week today Hopefully the laptop gets fixed soon so I can TR our move!! I miss everyone lots and try to lurk and read as much as possible!!!

YAY for MNSSHP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We miss you too Deena :grouphug:

Remember when I said never again for the DxDDP? Don't believe everything I say.
No worries, sis....:upsidedow

Congrats on the discounted tix!!!

Well, I've avoided this thread for a long time because I truly thought I had my resort changing addiction under control, but it turns out I was in complete denial. I seriously need some professional intervention, so here I am. I don't even know where I started with this reservation since I've changed dates and resorts so many times, so I will just tell you what it is in its most current form. We (me, dh, dd6 and dd1) are booked for a split stay from 9/21-10/1, with the first 4 nights at BWI and last 6 at WL. I've been keeping my eye on the weather forecast (I know, I know, it is way too far out to pay attention to that) and accuweather.com is calling for a lot of rain for the middle 5 days of our trip. Now I'm looking at changing our trip to October. We have flights booked for September, but it would be a lot more expensive to fly in October, so we'd probably just bank our money in southwest funds and drive in October. That would mean we'd have about one less day in the parks and 2 less nights at the resorts, BUT on the upside, our trip would fall over my daughter's October break, so she would be out of school 2 less days. We could book a split stay at BC (my daughter's favorite resort) and WL with an AP discount, and although the nightly rates will be higher, we will save money by driving and staying at Disney 2 less nights. Also, I know September crowds are generally lower, but there is so much more resort availability that week of October (up until the weekend hits) than there is the week in September. Ahhh, I don't know if I should change or not!

Oh boy....hmmm.... the saved SW funds would mean another trip down the road, better weather, missing two less days.... BC/WL

Sounds great, either way....

and :welcome:

I had to go inside. I hate to be the complainer, but I did call the front desk. I know there is no smoking on Disney Resort balconies and I want my kids to be able to come out here whenever they want.

Glad the competition went well!!!!

Not a clue whats going on with this thread. I've just been too busy. Sorry. I just got home from work and we are flying out in 11 hours.
I am guilty of the same

Safe travels my friend!!!!!!!!! ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:goodvibes

I love CL, but there's a few meals I am dying to try. It was also way too hard for me to budget OOP last trip. Even though I thought I had it figured out to the penny we went way over budget. I am even foregoing the TA rate just to get the DxDDP! Seriously, if my mom eats $40 worth of food a day it's a lot. The thing she would get the most out of is the mug! :rotfl:

Well, now I've done it!!!! I royally screwed up my plans!!! :headache:
I should know better than to change things with my trip so close and free dining to boot!!!!!

when Andrew (DS16) found out I had ditched SCI FI in favor of yachtmans, he WAS NOT happy! he said we have too many steak meals planned!!!! this is from my steak-loving boy!!!! :faint:
so, I go looking to try and change things back....nothing available for dinner at Sci FI on the 3rd of OCT :( of course!!!!

Luckily, I hadn't canceled our Sci FI lunch at 11:40 yet when I booked yachtmans ......think, ok.......think!!!!!
Hmmm, let's just go back to KONA again for dinner at 6:30.... Lots of variety there.....go online to book, and find a 6:25 for 4 on the 3rd. Try booking and the DANG page won't let me go past customer info, keeps asking me to sign in, which I try 20 times, I swear! And it still stays frozen and won't let me continue.......GRRR :(
try my phone app, and now it only shows 7:45...... NOOOOOO!!!!! That's too late! So, now I'm stuck. I can't get a timely reservation for KONA dinner, and Nothing's available for SCI FI at dinner!
Feeling a bit confused now at what we will do! I've got an email in to POLY IPO, but have a feeling I'm. Sweet. Out. OF. Luck right now :worried: wish I'd left everything ALONE!!!! That'll teach me to change! :( :( :(
