Well, now I've done it!!!! I royally screwed up my plans!!!
I should know better than to change things with my trip so close and free dining to boot!!!!!

when Andrew (DS16) found out I had ditched SCI FI in favor of yachtmans, he WAS NOT happy! he said we have too many steak meals planned!!!! this is from my steak-loving boy!!!!
so, I go looking to try and change things back....nothing available for dinner at Sci FI on the 3rd of OCT of course!!!!

Luckily, I hadn't canceled our Sci FI lunch at 11:40 yet when I booked yachtmans ......think, ok.......think!!!!!
Hmmm, let's just go back to KONA again for dinner at 6:30.... Lots of variety there.....go online to book, and find a 6:25 for 4 on the 3rd. Try booking and the DANG page won't let me go past customer info, keeps asking me to sign in, which I try 20 times, I swear! And it still stays frozen and won't let me continue.......GRRR
try my phone app, and now it only shows 7:45...... NOOOOOO!!!!! That's too late! So, now I'm stuck. I can't get a timely reservation for KONA dinner, and Nothing's available for SCI FI at dinner!
Feeling a bit confused now at what we will do! I've got an email in to POLY IPO, but have a feeling I'm. Sweet. Out. OF. Luck right now wish I'd left everything ALONE!!!! That'll teach me to change!

Crisis averted.....I would prefer to keep us all dining together if possible -- I decided to try 1 more time before bed, and was finally able to make it work! So I kept Sci FI for lunch, and went with KONA at 6:25 for dinner,
Then we will take a taxi,i guess to get us to beach club for our meet with. GINNY and Lacey at 8:30 at beaches and cream. We can't take the monorail because we don't have Epcot tickets for that day, just DHS.
I did think of BRG too, I looked at the menu, but wasn't able to book them online. Is it good there? The menu looks great to the boys......
That could be an option too if getting to KONA takes too long. We could take the boat from DHS to Boardwalk and walk to BRG. Our reservation for KONA didn't require a cc hold, so if we miss it , it's not a penalty.
Does BRG take walkups? Or phone reservation? (POLY CL could call for us in the am to make us a reservation)
Do you recommend BRG????

Big River Grill only takes reservations if you call same day an hour or so ahead, otherwise they re walk up. We went there for lunch and I would go thre again, portions are huge and our server was fantastic. Next time I would get one of their burgers which looked great, we had steak which I found a bit chewy but the cheesecake was to die for (true NY style).
This trip we re trying Kouzzina's for dinner another option if wanted to be adventurous, we loved Kouzzina's for Breakfast Bob who is picky even ate arugula and chicken sausage and sweet potatoe hash lol (all first for him) Cat Cora did good!

Dani - sounds like you figured out a plan! I am a spreadsheet junkie and would love to see yours if you wouldn't mind sharing. I am still looking for that perfect spreadsheet to help me figure out dining plans. Right now, I have decided that we will pay OOP for CA Grill because I don't want to use 10 credits for it - or even 8 if two of us split. I know dd and I will want sushi and two adult credits for a $25 sushi roll seems like a waste. Its our last meal of the trip so I also thought I could wait and see if we have any credits left over and then some of us could use them. DH and DS will likely want one of the higher priced entrees. Youngest dd will probably eat of the kids menu which is priced pretty reasonably I seem to recall.

I have a dinner reservation at Y&Y but am thinking I will cancel that in favor of eating dinner either at Downtown Disney or maybe Captain's Grill or Kouzzina. It kinda depends on whether or not the kids want to come back and swim.

So for our meet up - do you think we will be able to get a table? Or should we order from the takeout window so we can walk down and see Illuminations with our treats?

Hi Lacey! I don't know what I was thinking playing around with my ADRs this close in the game!! Thankfully I HAD NOT let go of our Lunch ADR at Sci Fi, so it was still reserved for us.....I just had a few heart-stopping moments last night trying to get KONA CAFE back for dinner!!! Thankfully, it finally allowed me to book the 6:25 slot, so I snatched that up. If we find ourselves not wanting to head back to the POLY for dinner, we may just try Big River Grille instead with a walk up, but as of now, it stands we are going back to the POLY to eat.....I think that is the best bet, nice dinner , and maybe a chance to freshen up! We may cab it over to the Beach Club for our meet, so we aren't stuck trying to take a bus and make the timing!

About our meet...... I remember trying to get a table at beaches and cream just for my son and I in FEB 2011.....pretty slow time of the year, and it was almost impossible to get a table!!! we ended up at the icecream bar, and even that took a long time.

I kind of like your idea of getting it to go, then wandering over to see illuminations!! I've actually never seen illuminations yet, in 3 trips!! I'm always scrambling to get to the bus before the mad exit rush...I'd really like to see illuminations this time! so whatever you all and Gwynne are up for, we are easlily happy

Marie and Lacey-I am glad we'll have a chance to say hello! As far as Beaches and Cream plans, either a table or getting to go sounds fine. Maybe we can see how the weather is that evening? I do like the idea of enjoying Illuminations from the walkway. (I haven't seen Illuminations before, either Marie.) Whatever we do, it will be such fun!

Pas-Very glad to hear you're on the mend.

Dani-Your spreadsheet is a great idea. Disney math sometimes makes my head spin, seeing it on paper has to be very helpful.

Candace-AKL CL is nice, the food is good, I love the resort...but it really eats vacation time. The lounge is a long way from the rooms, and then you have the added extra time on a bus. I think in someways AKL/CL is nicest when you are doing a day or two resort only, or when your only park is Animal Kingdom.
YC, on the other hand, is really convenient. It allows you to do far more, with less rushing, less effort.

sjs314, Marie, We love Big River Grill, too! I don't hear a lot about it on the DIS, but it's a nice option for us when we don't have reservations.
I agree, great burgers. Their desserts are good, too.

Kook, Janet-Hope your high school freshmen are settling into school, and enjoying new challenges.

Hubster mentioned to me I needed to figure out voting...I'm flying out one day earlier than he is in Nov...and guess what day it is??? I sent an email off to the clerk to see what I need to do to vote absentee. I'm sure it will be easy peasy lemon squeezy....
