"She's Looking at Food Pictures Again!" A February Family Vacation! COMPLETE 8/14

Boo to homework on your trip....

But your breakfast looked amazing, and your boat ride looked so fun! My husband and oldest wanted to do the balloon ride last year, but it was closed by the time we made it over to DTD...but it is on the list for this year for sure! :thumbsup2

Ok, I've been lurking for wayyy too long so I'm coming out of hiding.

I finished reading about the Bathrobe Princesses last week. You guys remind me of my niece (who is actually 7 months OLDER than I am) and I when we go to Disney together. We stay at the Beach Club and always run around the lobby at night when hardly anyone is around.

I remember when I was in high school, and even college, and I would so my homework out on the Old Key West balcony just like you! No I usually just sit out there and read. But if you absolutely have to do homework on vacation, there is no better spot than the one you picked.

P.S. I ALWAYS talk to the cute guys working. However, I find that I think they are older than they are. Most are still in college and I've been out for 2 years. Oops :confused3

My cousin and best friend both did the college program. I was going to do it the same semester my best friend did it (side note: she met her now husband while on the CP!!) but I decided not to do it because it would have meant that I needed to take an extra 2 courses during the summer and carry full loads the rest of the semesters. It's the only decision I've ever made that I regret.

I know everything happens for a reason, and to be honest, if I did it, I might have taken a different career path out of college, so I wouldn't have moved to Rochester and met my fiance. And if I went down the same time as my friend, she might not have met her husband because she and I would have tried to room together, etc etc. BUT, that being said...if I had one do-over in my life, that would be it. So definitely do it. Everyone I know who has done it has loved it...and both my friend & cousin have friends who still work for Disney in a professional capacity down in Florida.

Love the breakfast pics - the banana bread french toast looks amazing! :cloud9:

Lol at doing homework but at least you were in Disney and had Pizzafari Pizza to keep you going!

Great pics from the boat tour - sounds like a nice and relaxing way to spend some time :thumbsup2

Sadness about having to do homework on vacation, but at least you were doing it at Disney as opposed to at home in the middle of a snowstorm. And at least your setting was gorgeous for it.

Wonderful pictures of your leisurely boat ride along the river. We stayed at Port Orleans Riverside so it was fun to relive the boat ride to DTD via your photos.

:thumbsup2 for meeting a cute and nice castmember! Too bad you didn't get a pic....I had a friend who did the college program as well and he loved it. I think he got to skipper the Jungle Cruise boats so whenever we went there together, he made sure we rode it with him.

I've never done a boat ride around any of the harbors in Disney! :boat:What a great idea! Well, I went on a fishing trip in Crescent Bay when I was like 8 so I guess that counts. Doing homework on vacation is such a downer! But at least you had Disney music to make it better :lovestruc

the boat looks like a ton of fun!! Your CM friend lived in Chatham (that's where I lived!) The party apts are Vista and the "dead" apts are Patterson with Chatham in the middle in terms of party/not.

Vista are the oldest followed by Chatham and Patterson which opened a program or two after mine (either Fall 2008 or Spring 2009).

Booo on homework!!!!!!!

mmmmmm banana bread french toast...wonder if I can go try to make some of that now? Love the pics especially the one with the balloon in the sky with the sun WOW, you are an awesome photographer!!!! Just gorgeous shots.

The boat ride looked like an awesome way to spend the afternoon and love the story about Josh. He sounds adorable.

And good for you for doing hw on your vacation!!! You will be an excellent college student, you seem to keep your priorities in check. Your parents must be very proud of you!!

Homework at WDW? Boooooo. Your teacher should've given you an A+ just for being smart enough to vacation at WDW so frequently. At least, that's what I would do if I were a teacher. :thumbsup2

Aw, Josh the CM sounds like such a sweetheart. I love getting the chance to converse with the awesome people who work at Disney. Maybe someday (since it's becoming increasingly clear that I'm going to be in college forever because I cannot settle on a major...I'm calling it my Mid-College crisis ) I'll be one of those awesome CMs people talk to. I think I'd really like to do the College Program. I've just gotta start making decisions about my academic future before I can make official plans for that.

Your boat ride sounds like a lot of fun...So many great Disney sights. :)

Other than having to spend your afternoon doing homework, it sounds like you guys had a great day!

Your breakfast looks so good, and How fun to take a boat out for a bit, this is something I really wanted to do last time but we never had the time.

Yay for the college cutie, that must have definitely made up for the homework.

Can't wait for more:goodvibes

Yes, we did!
Mmm it was yummy! And my Dad LOVES that kind of stuff! So he likes to do it whenever we have the chance.
And oh trust me, he did. ADORABLE ;)

Oh man...doing homework during the day on your trip. You are such a good student!

It sounds like it was such a relaxing time on the boat. That's so cool you rode around and looked at DTD and a few resorts.

I have a bad relationship with that crazy Characters in Flight Balloon! Back when it first opened, we tried several times on our trip to ride it. We could see it up in the air from our balcony at OKW, so we knew it was running. We'd make our way over to DTD and every time, and I'm not kidding when I say every time, we got in line to pay, they closed it down due to weather! They have to close it down whenever there is a storm even close to the area. It made me so mad! So, we've given up on trying to ride that thing for awhile.

Hahaha oh thank you! I try!
It was beautiful! I really enjoyed it! I never really got to see either of the Port Orleans resorts (except for when I stayed at "Dixie Landings" when I was like 3 or 4 LOL) so it was nice to see them!
And oh my gosh that's such a mess! I really want to do it too, but it's probably such a hit or miss thing! Oh well, maybe you just weren't meant to go on it that trip!

Wow, that breakfast looked huge. I can't believe you actually got through most of it... well it does look good, but whatever, I'm contradicting myself again. *facepalm* LOL

Homework in Disney? Okay, that's near impossible for me. I was in Disney with school and had practically banished my backpack to the house. I also missed school because of that trip (lemme tell ya, it wasn't fun leaving or coming back when it came to school ) So good for you, sitting down and getting it all done! You've got guts, kid Hahahaha

That's nice you got to talk with someone in the internship program. I'm taking notes down right now (Buena Vista = Party Dorms = Bad) LOL It would be on my bucket list to work in (or for) Disney, if I had one Hahaha And he seemed to really enjoy Disney (most non-DisFreaks can't sit through Fireworks at Disney, trust me), so I think that was cool to read what you remember from his standpoint on the DCP. And so nice of him to not take the tip.

Love the pictures of what you saw on your little boat ride :teeth: Love the Lego Sea Serpent, though I think he has a name. I recall someone telling me his name is... Brickly? But I'm not sure. And those Treehouse Villas become more and more enticing... maybe I'll stay there for my sweet 16... Hmmm...

Can't wait to read more!

Hahaha I can eat a lot... so yeah I probably got close to finishing it off because it was delicious!
I tried my best. homework in disney results in a sad mood for me. But at least I know that the parks were there for me when I got done!
Haha yes, it was lots of fun talking to him! And yeah you DEFINITELY should do the internship program! I can really tell that you have a passion for Disney (just like I do!) so you should make it a priority to do the internship program... even if it's just for like the short 3 month period! I'm sure you would love it! I can tell that I will :) I'm more excited for that than college itself!
Oh he has a name? That's cute! I'll have to find it out for sure! And yeah the Tree House Villas are cute! I just heard that they're SUPER far away from everything so they're kind of inconvenient. That's the only reason I'm not interested in staying there. But I will someday... because I need to stay in every resort on property! (and they're a different experience than Saratoga Springs!)

Doing homework at Disney is at least better than doing homework elsewhere, right?

Great boat tour, thank you!

I agree! Good point. Yay for optimism!
And aww you're welcome! I hope you liked the pictures!

Why hello! Thank you for coming out of lurkdom... I'm so glad you're here!
And aww really!? That's so cute! That's the best resort to run around, I think! It's so open and beautiful and I just love it! So many adventures can come out of it!
Haha aww did you really!? That's so precious! That's exactly what I did! :goodvibes It's a beautiful place and at least you know that you aren't wasting the day then!
and p.s. it's lots of fun, isn't it!? :) And haha oh well! No harm in talking! ;)

My cousin and best friend both did the college program. Aww, well, like you said, everything happens for a reason! But that's really cute that she met her fiance down there! I kind of hope I can do that... because then it'll mean that he loves disney :wizard: That's a cute story though! Disney seems like a really good company to be involved with, and it sounds like everyone you know really enjoyed it! That's great!

Love the breakfast pics - the banana bread french toast looks amazing! :cloud9:

Thanks! It was!
And yes, thank goodness! It made math less painful!
And thank you! It was beautiful! I loved going on the boat!

I completely agree! I felt more productive when I was sitting in the sun!
Aww that's so cute! I'm glad you liked the picture of POR!
And yayy :) I know. I WISH I had a picture. He was adorable. And that is so COOL! Kristen wants to be a Jungle Cruise Skipper  Or Snow White haha. That's so cute! I can't wait to do the CP!

It's really fun! You should one day! And aww that's cute! I bet that was fun! And yes, thank goodness! Disney Music gets me through EVERYTHING!

It was :) And ahh okay! Thank you! I think I want to live in those, too! Sounds like a good balance.
And boo homework for sure :( Oh well!

Haha he was! And that was a great experience! I'm glad we did it! It was something a little different than just going to the parks.
And aww thank you! I hope that I'll do well in college! And aww thanks I think they are hopefully! :goodvibes

That boat ride looks like heaven! Great pictures too!

Thank you!

Haha well in that case I wish you were my teacher! Because that would be wonderful!
And me too! You should just do the college program (like seriously though) and then maybe Disney with all of it's magical powers will just steer you in the right direction!
And it was! Yay :)

Chapter 18 - Fulton's Crab House
February 23rd, 2011

After our wonderful boat ride, we went back to the room and got ready to go to Downtown Disney for our 6:10 pm reservation at Fulton's Crab House!

dsc0238r.jpg

We took the bus there, got off at the Market Place, and went right to Fulton's.

dsc0239p.jpg

We arrived at 6:06 pm for our 6:10 pm reservation and we were seated immediately! Fantastic!

We sat next to a window that had a view of Downtown Disney, so that was nice!

dsc0240vj.jpg

Unfortunately, there was a huge table of people next to us that were VERY loud. They were DEFINITELY Disney newbies. These are words that came out of their mouths:

"Is Animal Kingdom a Zoo?"
"Yeah!"

All the while I'm sitting at my table going "NahtaZu! NahtaZu!" :lmao:

Our waiter's name was Steven and he was from Indonesia. He had a very thick accent, so it was hard to understand him. He was very nice, though, so that was good.

This fish was hanging on the wall near our table. I was like "Snooki has her own fish!" hahaha I don't even like Jersey Shore. But still. I was amused.

dsc0241n.jpg

I LOVE this picture of my parents. How precious. (:

dsc0243x.jpg

Now for the food! First came the bread (delicious... obviously. I love bread.) And crackers with a REALLY delicious spread! I liked that a lot!

dsc0244s.jpg

I got a Caesar Salad:

dsc0245z.jpg

And I got Fried Calamari as my meal. I didn't even eat half of it though.. it was just way too much!

dsc0252zy.jpg

My brother got some New England Clam Chowder... a family favorite.

dsc0248gw.jpg

This is my Mom's order. Unfortunately, I didn't write down the name of it. Shoot. But here's a picture, anyway!

dsc0253pq.jpg

Jonathan got Crab Legs that literally melted in your mouth. They were so good!

dsc0254s.jpg

And Dad got steak and a side of crab legs. They were good... but he was not happy with the price of just adding a few extra crab legs. It was ridiculous for the small amount he received.

dsc0255xw.jpg

For dessert, I got the Sour Cherry Cobbler and it was DELICIOUS! Best thing I ate all day. Yum yum yum! I loved that!

dsc0256v.jpg

And my parents got Key Lime Pie!

dsc0257t.jpg

Overview of Fulton's Crab House Dining Experience
Order: Caesar Salad, Fried Calamari, and Sour Cherry Cobbler
Rating: 4.5/5 - I could not finish the Calamari. I got sick of it even before half of it was gone. I guess that's why it's technically an appetizer to be shared among many people.
Service: 4/5 - It was really difficult to understand Steven, however he was very nice!
Overall Experience: Good! Not the best of the trip but still enjoyable.
1st Visit?: No
Revisit?: Yeah.... eventually. We actually have all decided we kind of want to take a break from Fulton's. The prices are just insane.
Complaints: Loud, difficult to understand waiter, too much calamari, VERY expensive.
Overall Rating: 3.5/5

After Fulton's, we walked back to the Marketplace. Dad and Jonathan went back to the room, and Mom and I went to World of Disney

I wanted to get a Mickey Ring, so I did! It is absolutely adorable! I still wear it every single day and get lots of compliments on it! One of my best purchases ever from Disney!

dsc0267h.jpg

I also got a Lime Green shirt with Mickey on it. I love these shirts because they're just a solid color and they're not super flashy. They're really nice!

dsc0374x.jpg

And I also got a car sticker for Kristen's birthday present - "My Other Car is a Monorail!" :rotfl: I don't have a picture of that one though - sorry!

After World of Disney, Dad wanted us to stop and get him a cookie from Ghiradelli's.

It was a MADHOUSE in there! Oh my gosh. It took forever. My Mother was not happy. She must really love my Dad for waiting in that line to get him that cookie! :lmao:

But let me tell you.... best cookie I've EVER tasted. Like I can't even describe how good it was. I don't have a picture. But the flavor was Chocolate Chip. So if you're in Ghiradelli's, (and aren't distracted by the ice cream) get a cookie! You will not believe how absolutely amazing they are!! Wow.

We headed out after that. And SURPRISE another bus issue. The bus we got on was sputtering while we were in the parking lot and it was going SO SLOW! It felt like it was breaking down!

Nevertheless, the driver chugged along and got us back safely to Old Key West. Hahaha I don't even know how he did that.

The Downtown Disney busses have a backwards route at Old Key West compared to the theme park busses, so they go to Hospitality House first.

We decided to be adventurous and got off at Peninsular (even though our bus stop was Turtle Pond) and we walked back to our room. We beat the bus back! WOOHOO I felt very accomplished.

We looked back and the bus label changed to "Rapunzel." Aka... it's broken? haha

We got back to the room. I ate some of the best cookie known to man. And then I went to sleep.

We haven't been to Fulton's since 2002...looks like it's as good as it was then;)

Cookie from Ghiradelli's? Just added that to our list .... thank you!! I think I'll pick some up and just keep them in the fridge at the resort! Your description had my mouth watering...my Jasmine loves cookies!!

I love your ring...it's beautiful! I like to buy one thing every trip that I will use or see everyday to remind me that's why I get up and go to work everyday....:woohoo:

Oh no on having a loud group next to you during your meal - that must have been a bit annoying! Lol at their AK conversation though!

I also love the picture of your parents. Yeah your dad's plate doesn't look like it has many crab legs on it. I was reading a review on the dining boards that showed pics of the crab legs from last time they went and compared them with this time - let's just say you could definitely spot the difference! :lmao:

Mmm your dessert looks delicious and I love, love, love your Mickey ring - I'm going to see if I can find one similar to it during our trip.

Your bus does not sound healthy and yay on beating it on the way back! :thumbsup2

I've never tried Fulton's! What gives, mom and dad? We apparently only stick to family favorites nowadays. I'm making a list of all the places I see of delicious foods on this website :yay: I looove calamari. And your ring is totally precious, by the way! If I had seen it before I definitely could have complimented you on it:lovestruc

Ghiradelli's is always crazy, we ordered ice cream and it took awhile but it was worth it. Long lines at Disney yup, but at Carlos Bakery in NJ wish someone would have let me know.

I've been following all your trip report, but I think this might be the first time I comment. I love reading them!

I was wondering, what your mom had at Fulton's, did it have any seafood/fish in it? If not, did she like it? I'm going to eat there with my new husband as our "romantic" dinner, but I don't like seafood so I was wondering how it was there for someone like me. (He's the big seafood fanatic).
