Chapter 17 - Our Precious Boating Experience
February 23rd, 2011
I woke up around 9:30 am this morning to Mother asking me if I wanted to go to breakfast! I obviously can't say no to food, so I got up and got ready! Me, Mother, and my Dad walked down to Olivia's.
I got the delicious Banana Bread French Toast for breakfast. The serving size was huge though! It could easily be split between two people. I really liked it!
This is Dad's Breakfast - a nice omlet.
We walked back to the room after breakfast. It's actually not that bad of a walk! Unless you were tired from going to the parks all day. Then that would be a bit of a hike.
We got back to room and took the saddest picture you have ever seen on all of my trip reports.
Ready........?
It's me doing homework. ): WAHHH that is not what I wanted to be doing!
I worked on my Math Midterm Study Guide for a few hours and got halfway done. I really buckled down - I was proud of myself. Also, having Pizzafari Pizza to snack on was a big help!
I did my math homework out on the porch, and the weather was beautiful. So that was nice. And I listened to Disney Music the whole time, so I was still partially immersed in the experience. I still wished I was in the parks, though!
During this time, my Dad rented a bike and rode it from South Point to a nature trail near Saratoga Springs.
Around 2:30 pm we left to go to the main area of Old Key West to rent a boat.
The only one left was a Boston Whaler, when we really wanted a Pontoon.
We almost just settled, but the guy who was working the boat dock, Josh, asked us if we just wanted to wait for the Pontoon - since it's the same price and much bigger.
We decided to wait. Jonathan and Dad went off to go play basketball. Mom and I sat on the dock and waited.
We struck up a nice conversation with Josh... and let me tell you... he was SO cute! I fell in love. I seriously wish I had a picture of him to show you because he was adorable and SUPER nice!!
He was working in Disney for the college internship program. He was a sophomore in college and he was from a small town in Kentucky. (how precious!)
He was down in Disney with his family in October when he found out about the program. He applied and got in! He arrived in Disney on January 19th (the day the Bathrobe Princesses actually left Disney!) and he stayed until May.
He told us that you get free park admission when you're doing the college program, and when he has nothing to do, he goes to the Magic Kingdom and watches the fireworks. (what an ANGEL!)
He stays in a dorm that starts with a C... I forget what it is called. But he told me to avoid the Buena Vista dorms because they're the party dorms.
He said that he lived at home while he was going to college, so going there was a nice treat. It was like moving out for a little while.
And also, he had an adorable little accent and he looked a little like Aladdin. WINNER!
So that's the basics of our conversation. The boat took about 40 minutes to come back, but that was fine with me! We eventually got on the boat and took off!
Dad and Jonathan picked up some mixed berry smoothies! They were DELICIOUS!
Here's the boat captain!
We rode to Downtown Disney first. And we saw the Character's in Flight Balloon! I really want to do that someday! I have barely heard anything about it, though!
Here it's on the platform:
And now it's taking off!
We rode by Fulton's, which my family has been to many times!
The
Lego Sea Serpent! I've always loved that thing.
Rainforest Cafe... YUM!
T-Rex... I really want to go there! It looks delicious!
Then we rode past Saratoga Springs.
And the Treehouse Villas which were really cute.
The Characters in Flight Balloon was soaring again - I LOVE this picture!
Then we made our way over to French Quarter.
Looks like they were doing some renovations!
THE FRUMPY DRAGON SLIDE! (Kristen corrects me every time - it's a sea serpent.)
Then we went over to Riverside, which is really beautiful! I want to stay there!
PORT ORLEANS.
Boatwrights! I never ate there!
My "Deer" Old Dad.
Then we got back to our home - Old Key West.
We had lots of fun!
Our boat ride was about an hour long. We got back to the dock, thanked Josh, and said goodbye to him. Dad tried to tip him, but he couldn't accept it. He told us that "we were such nice people." hehe yayyy
