I can't believe I didn't see your TR before today! I love your writing style, your pics and your family I have always wanted to stay at Old Key West but have only stayed at BWV (last 2 trips we had boardwalk view and now it's hard to imagine staying anywhere else - plus I have rented points the last 3 trips and it has saved SO much money. I need to buy into DVC and thought about buying into OKW - it looks so peaceful and relaxing!).

Don't you just love ending your first day with Illuminations?!! Can't wait to read more

Chapter 6 - Early Morning Character Greetings
February 20th, 2011

Hooray! My first full day in Disney World! I woke up at 7:20 am and got ready to go!

Mom and I are the intense park-goers of the family, so we wanted to try and make it to rope drop at the Magic Kingdom!

We got to the bus stop and the bus pulled up within 5 minutes. We realized that it takes about 30-40 minutes (including the stops after Turtle Pond) to get to the Magic Kingdom from Old Key West.

We finally arrived at the park at 8:53 am and we were a little confused as to why the train was already there.

Then I realized that the park actually opened at 8 am. Oh well! We tried to get there on time anyway.

We went into the park and headed to Splash Mountain to get Fastpasses. The wait was only 5 minutes long so we jumped in line!

Oh wait. The ride was closed. I was sad because I didn't get to ride Splash Mountain in January because it was closed, so I was very anxious for it to reopen!!

We left Frontierland and went to go meet the princesses in Fantasyland!

and Belle:

They were all so cute! I love the princesses! It was cute to meet them in this room in Adventureland. I have only been in there during the Not So Scary Halloween Party!

Even though the park opened an hour earlier than we anticipated, there was NO ONE there. And you don't say that a lot during President's Day Week. So that was pretty awesome.

Next we went to go meet my FAVORITES: Aladdin and Jasmine! We got in line before they even came out because people were already waiting! They are very popular.

While we were in line, a family gave us two Big Thunder Mountain Railroad Fastpasses! How nice! The Dad in that family was an obvious Disney Fan and the Mom was just kind of like... whatever. Haha so many different personalities.

When Aladdin and Jasmine came outside, they walked right by us and went on The Magic Carpets of Aladdin! I wished I was on the carpet with them! Those lucky guests.

This isn't the best picture, but you can at least see Aladdin. He's the important one anyway

They came back after their ride. THEY ARE SO CUTE! I really really want to be Jasmine. Every time I meet them the desire just builds.

This Aladdin was CUTE. He was the favorite one I've met so far! He was less talkative than Jasmine, but nevertheless I enjoyed meeting both of them!

how fun that you got to see people ride a ride with disney characters. In all the times i've been there I haven't seen any characters on the rides. I have always known they must do it occassionally since they have those disney sing alongs and other disney videos where the characters were on the rides. How nice of that man to give you his fastpasses? I love generous people like that in disney! I love noticing the different personalities of people in disney, it makes people watching so much fun! can't wait to hear more

I did the same thing last September...thought we were doing so good getting there for park opening only to realize it was EMH that morning! Oops! Ha! We did make it later in the week...

Jasmine and Aladdin rode the carpets with us!! My daughter was SO excited!!!! They were not in our actual carpet...just a few ahead, but she thought it was so magical!

Beautiful pictures of Illuminations! Were there a lot of people waiting in line for OKW? That's another reason why I loved that resort. The bus lines coming back were always shortest for OKW

And I don't know! I don't really remember... but it we were standing there probably were some. But of course it was President's Day weekend. Usually, though, you're right the lines are short for OKW! It's nice!

Tehehe you WOULD be afraid of SE at night...I think it's such a frumpy ride. But I love it.

And yes you should try IllumiNations there! It was a good spot!

nice update of Epcot!!! I always try to get the SE one where you go snowboarding and fall and break your arm. I know it starts off with choosing "Health" and after that it's a blur but it's a funny one and I about died the first time I saw it!

Your family is opposite of mine. My dad and brother will stay till the very end where as my mom and I always leave early! I'm not one to ever take and afternoon nap..I'd rather be by the pool so that doesn't help and the fact that I lived/worked there kinda puts a damper on things but I do try to stay as long as possible!

I also am a HUGE taylor swift fan!!!!! I wanted to go to her concert that was literally 10 minutes from our house, it is right by the airport. Unfortunately i couldn't get tickets I hope you ended up getting them though!

Hahaha I swear we are twins I'm sorry you couldn't get tickets! I did actually get them thank goodness! But I will explain more about that later I think haha. I am excited! The concert is coming up soon!

Aww thank you so much! I'm glad you're here! Old Key West is great! You'll have to try it sometime! But I have only stayed at a Boardwalk Studio and that was when I was 10... so I don't remember it AT ALL. That was right before the beginning of my Disney World obsession... I was finally understanding it all. But I am gonna try and stay at BWV someday! They look beautiful!
And I reccomend getting DVC if you can! It saves a lot in the long run! The initial price is just really scary

Hahaha I know! I always have wanted to ride with a character but it has never happened! I think that's the first time I saw a character go on a ride actually in person! Because yeah I've seen it on those movies too haha

Yes! It was quite a success! And it was only closed because... I don't know. Either technical issues or too early in the day or one of those random things. You know. It thankfully reopened soon after the morning!​

Okay I am all caught up! It looks like you had a very productive first night at Disney! I love the Flower and Garden topiaries. On our first ever trip to Disney we inadvertently happened up the F&G Festival and had no clue what it was. I just thought those topiaries were up all year round!

I love all of your princess pictures! This is going to sound nuts, but I have never met a single princess at Disney! John is weird about meeting the characters who aren't wearing masks. I think it makes him uncomfortable? I need to do that!

Yes we did! Those topiaries are so cute! I know I ended up going there for my 13th birthday and I was like... what is are all of these flowers!? I think I got to enjoy it more this time!

We were in building #41, which was near Turtle Point. Ummm I think the bus stops went.... Peninsular, South Point, Turtle Pond, Carousel, and Hospitality House. I think. Someone correct me if I'm wrong haha. And no problem anytime Glad I can help!​
