Isn't that amazing the different rates they will quote to different people? :confused3

I wonder if your rates included some sort of California resident discount or something.

Interesting.

Why, why are these non-transferable???? LOL.

I hope I get magic like yours soon! :cheer2: Also hope you can get something you can use!

Wow!!!! What is the Pin Trick? or what thread should I be looking at?

It was suggested that if you actually login on the Disneyland site and save a package or room only reservation that you may be considering...and leave it there saved....you will possibly get a follow up e-mail offering you some discounted terms.

The offers don't seem to really correspond to the dates that are in the saved offer though, so it's not always helpful, but with a flexible schedule it could be a great savings tool.

Woo hoo!:cool1::cool1: Glad to see it's still working (sort of)! Thank you for the kind words, Disneyanajc (and rentayenta)!:goodvibes Thanks for reporting back and letting me/us know the outcome!

That's exactly what happened to me this year - they sent me a PIN with those same great rates...but for a different set of dates a bit later in the month than I wanted. Last year, however, I tried the Saved Offers trick and got the dates I wanted. Sometimes you get the dates you want and sometimes not - it's very odd how that works. So I think this year DLR may be sending out PIN's for times in which they expect lower crowds, not to mention the fact that so many people have now tried this PIN code trick that I think DLR essentially runs out of PIN codes for a while and has to let some of the existing ones expire before they send out new batches.

But I am glad to see it's still working in some kind of way - it's worked twice for me so far, by doing the exact same thing each time. It's just that once I got the dates I wanted and the other time the dates were slightly later than what I wanted.

I got my pin and when I clicked back to disneyland.com it had my dates saved..unfortunately my dates don't line up AT ALL (it's for this year).

Are they really not transferable?

Totally non-transferable! I know, it's a pain - so many PIN codes go to waste. Anytime we receive special offers via e-mail or snail mail that have PIN codes on them, it means those codes are specifically attached to our names, addresses and accounts (in the Disney database), and we are the only ones allowed to claim them. I have received PIN's before that I have not been able to use and would have loved to give them away, but I couldn't so they went to waste.

OK, I tend not to whine on the DISboards. It's just unseemly. But this time, I gotta break my own rule.

Why?

1. I've tried the PIN trick twice in the last couple of months. Nada.

2. Those are my dates! :headache:

OK, I'm done now. Just ignore me. Thanks. :rolleyes1

Try creating a new account at disneyland.com, if you haven't already. That's what I did and I too got the lower rate pin code and am using it to return in Oct. I created a new account with a different email addy. I used the same information (name etc.) as on my original account with the exception of a different email addy. Worked like a charm.

My thanks to Sherry, as well. We haven't even been home from our July trip for 3 weeks yet and we've got our next trip planned!

I couldn't help but laugh at your rule breaking...not because of the misfortune of not being able to score a PIN code (yet) but because I know the frustration all too well!

In the past - way before this Saved Offers trick - when Disney would just randomly send out waves of PIN codes to people, with no particular rhyme or reason, occasionally I would be skipped and not get a PIN, even though I definitely would have used it. Then I would read about others getting PIN codes they wouldn't be able to use! It was so frustrating because of that pesky 'non-transferable' thing. So many people would love to be able to share PIN codes they can't use, but it is just not possible.

You're very welcome! I'm so glad to see that it worked for you too (with the second try) and that your next trip (for Halloween Time!:cool1:) is in the works! I know there are quite a few people who are not getting any PIN codes, or if they do, the offers have crazy dates that have nothing to do with their own trip dates. So I'm happy to see it's still working effectively for people. I'm sure it will eventually stop working altogether and Disney will find another way to distribute PIN codes that has nothing to do with saving offers, but for now, if some people can get one and save some $$$, it's a worthwhile endeavor!

Next year - who knows what the 3 DLR hotels' prices will be, considering the opening of Cars Land and the completion of the huge DCA project. I don't even want to think about what 2012 rack rates will be.:scared1: DLR seems to be treating itself as more of a vacation destination now, rather than just a place for locals or short visits, so with that upgrade in 'status,' I expect there will be many lofty price hikes.:scared1:

Dangit. I was hoping to come here and offer it to someone. :( That was my FIRST thought. Sad.

Emmers -

I know - it seems so unnecessary to not be able to share the code with people when you can't use it. One consolation is that, for every PIN code that is not used and/or is not claimed by its "book by" date/expiration date (or whatever it's called), it probably means that another, brand new PIN code will be available in the Disney Destinations system and will go out to someone who saves their hotel offer! I think the PIN's cycle out when they are not used by a certain date and then that frees up more PIN's in the system - as long as DLR keeps sending them out.

Well that's a good point. There's that at least :guilty::):sad2::lmao:

Oh so what's the best pin anyone's gotten? Is someone keeping a running list? Mine was 35 percent off?

Good question. I think most of the good PIN's coming from this Saved Offer trick are basically the same. They are all 35%. A couple of offers I have read about had the PPH at an even cheaper rate than $163 - it was like $150-something (those may have been covering time frames that were considered really off-peak by DLR, so the rack rates would have been a bit lower anyway). Otherwise, people are getting e-mails or snail mail with regular rack rates or only meager discounts.

It's interesting because the hotels' rack rates have increased over the years (again, I don't even want to know what they will be in 2012 and beyond!:scared1:) - the PPH is averaging over $300 per night, rack rate, before tax and parking. That is insanity - I don't care how cute the newly redecorated PPH rooms are. Above $300 nightly for the PPH is crazy business!

So because the rack rates increase over the years, a PIN code or AP discount may not seem as 'valuable' now as it would have seemed, say, 4 years ago or so. I recall when people used to get PIN codes (not from the Saved Offer trick, but just by random mailings) where the PPH was offered at $129. The AP rates used to be really good like that too, and they were available much more often. Now, we are lucky if we can find great AP rates on the AP hotel calendar for more than 2 days out of a month! In the old days, you could find whole weeks or 2-week periods - even in December! - that had great rates! Some months like September used to have great AP rates all through the month.

Next year...who knows what's in store?:confused3

I have done the pin code trick for WDW b4 & it has worked. I have done it multiple times for our DL trip & I received 2 emails, but nether had a pin code. They just told me to go book it. I even called to see if there was pin code attached to my name, but nothing.
Our dates fit in the dates you received for your pin code. I would love to get that pin code.
I will try making a new account & see what happens.

The odd thing is I have had my original account with disneyland.com for many years and I never got a pin code for DLR (got one once for WDW but had no intention of going there). Maybe they are sending pin codes to new accounts versus older established accounts. :confused3

I hear you about next year! I'm concerned about the prices of DLR room and what they may charge for PAPs once DCA is up and running 100%.

I remember the year DCA opened and how they were selling APs seperate for DL and you'd have to pay additional for access to DCA. Thankfully that was short lived, however that very well may become a reality in 2012.

I agree DLR is being groomed to be a vacation destination going forward. The off season is pretty much been downgraded to rainy days in Jan and Feb. They are apparently sending out pin codes for free dinning. Hard ticket events have begun (ie: Halloween) I bet we'll see more and more of the way WDW is run infused into DLR as the *one park* mentaltiy takes further hold.

The only saving grace for me is I hit the senior rate age last year, so no matter the rack rates I'll get 30% off. Never thought I'd find a reason to be happy about being 60.:rotfl2:

Mine was $156 for PPH and $186 for DLH, don't recall GC as I wouldn't stay there as I am not a fan. My dates were Oct 15-31st. The dates I saved on my account were Oct 22nd-30th. The dealine to use the pin was Aug 3rd.

I got the PPH in Oct 2009 for $100 a night through Expedia.

The night before we left DLH last month there was a flyer with our check out folder that offered us the ability to stay and extra night at DLH for $129. Problem was it would have cost way more than that to change our flights.
