Just to make it clear... I am a HOJO fan.:woohoo:

BUT....

We cannot get a really good rate at the HOJO for our July 19-23 trip and thought about using some points for a night or 2 at the Sheraton and paying for the rest. The total will be HALF of what the HOJO is charging.:sad2:

We really like the HOJO because it is walking distance to the parks but at the current rate I am leaning to the Sheraton.

The Sheraton has the shuttle --- but... is it walkable??? We do not mind walking (who could if you go to DL in the first place??:confused3

I want to hear the dirt!

Which Sheraton are you looking at? There are two:

The Sheraton Anaheim (The castle looking one that's near the Disneyland parking structure)

The Sheraton Park (The high rise one that's on Harbor--used to be the Coast Anaheim)

For clarification:

The Sheraton Anaheim (The castle looking one that's near the Disneyland parking structure)

Forgot about the other one!

I suppose you COULD walk it--but it would be pretty far. You'd have to go over the freeway (on Ball Rd.) and then turn onto Harbor and walk a few blocks to get to the front entrance. You could also walk down to Downtown Disney and through all of it to get to the entrance plaza.

I've heard people mention that they've walked over to the parking structure a block away and then taken the parking trams to the parks, too.

Plus you've got the hotel shuttle.

Ohh...... never thought of the trams --- EXCELLENT idea. :thumbsup2

They are probably faster than the shuttle any how --- I just have living by the times of the shuttle --- breaking a leg trying to get out of the park to catch it -- planning my departure around it. :upsidedow

Especially since the shuttle does not start running until 30 mins prior to the park opening and we like to be first in line and by the time we got to the park it would be practically opening and the entrance line would be LONG.

They did mention that they run for early entry but since we are AP's we do not get that perk --- but COULD jump on and just be at the entrance extra early and eat breakfast in line.

I stayed at The Anaheim Sheraton two weeks ago for the fourth time and we love that hotel! We have stayed with points each time, and for the record don't pay for parking or any other taxes or resort fees. It is refreshing to stay somewhere that is actually "free"!. I just wanted to let you know that they take their shuttle business very serious! If a shuttle is full, there is a back up one right behind it so they is no way you would have to wait another 30 minutes (this is not the case with ART as I have learned the hard way). It is free and very timely. On a busy Sat morn, they had three buses ready for back up. Don't walk it, it is too far! If you stay, ask for a ground floor room facing the courtyard - they are huge and have lovely views. There is a door on the inside corridor and one on the courtyard view side. I have never seen a hotel layed out like that before. Also, their breakfast buffet is really good and quick. We love filling up early and heading out for a full day at the parks.

My DH and I stayed there for 3 days in December, and we loved it. We did walk back to the hotel one day because we missed the shuttle by about 1 minute - we saw it driving away! It took about 20 minutes, but we weren't walking fast, just a pleasant stroll. It would probably take longer if you had kids with you.

The hotel itself was really nice, the restaurant had good food, and there was a convenience store there too with hot food as well as things like cereal, headache tablets, souveniers etc.

We stayed on Harbor on our last trip and walked by the shuttle area at DL several times a day. We were very impressed by how much we saw both the Sheraton and Candy Cane Inn shuttle busses coming and going each time we went by the lots.

We stayed at the Sheraton for one night in 2006--it was actually the night of the Pirates 2 premier, although we weren't invited premier guests. We arrived late (after 9 pm) and had very prompt and courteous service at the front desk. Although I had booked a room with two queens (on Starwood points) we were given a one bedroom suite, which we really didn't have time to enjoy, as we were just crashing. We had dinner in their little snack shop--made to order deli sandwiches and a HUGE, yummy piece of chocolate cake. In the morning, we quickly checked out and took a cab to the GCH.

We enjoyed the brief stay. The room was clean and very comfortable. We are going back this August, and are skipping the 400+ per night GCH and staying at the Sheraton again, once again for points.

I've stayed at the Sheraton Anaheim on points quite often and they ALWAYS charge me $10 per car, per day for parking. Linda, how have you lucked out not getting charged that fee? I want to know your secrets!

I've always used their shuttles to the park and find them very convenient. It's a very nice place to stay.

You know, I have thought about that, because I seem to be the only one who never pays for parking! The only thing I can think of is that we never really use the in and out option with our room key. You use your room key to open the gate arm and maybe they charge you if your key is used/activated in the slot. We did leave once, but exited and entered on the side that the gate arm was up, so therefore didn't use our key.:confused3 That is all I can think of because they don't issue parking passes or special parking key cards. KWIM??? I think that's how they gage who gets charged for parking and who doesn't. OTOH, the Sheraton Park charges $14 per day per car and I have always been charged, even when the cards don't open the arm to let you out!
