She Always Pees on Mainstreet at Magic Kingdom! Update 2/9

Great update! I am a big caramel fan too and your description of that cupcake had my mouth watering! If you look at my new ticker (just did it today!) you will see we have a trip in June planned and # 1 on my Epcot list is that caramel shop! I have been drooling over that place since I first heard there was going to be a Caramel shop.

Can't wait to hear more about your trip!

I'm putting those numbers in my phone so I can call the East Meets West girls in May. Won't they be surprised?????

Fun update. I love the pictures of you and Dan. Yes - not the best quality, but still good. I love your blouse. Its so pretty.

Interesting story about the lady who never leaves her house. That's OCD, for sure!

So....we were heading off to California Grill and our first dining experience there or the Contemporary minus Chef Mickey's. We had decided ahead of time what we wanted and were looking forward to a great meal, better conversation, a gorgeous view and some fireworks after on Main Street at MK.

We used the valet to park and it was fun to hear Dan being referred to as Mr. So and So. I told him they were just really impressed because we had such a swanky car! :lmao:

S&S were waiting at check in and we soon were on our special elevator to the top. All the elite treatment could become addicting if I was not careful!:cool2:

We took our pager out onto the overlook to see what this view fuss was all about and it did not disappoint. I do not have as many pics here as I would like to share because S&S have the better camera of us and I was encouraging them to take a bunch of photos and I would steal them later. So all of you Shannn fans, send her some messages and tell her to get her butt on here and start her TR! ;)

Sam and the Incredible Shrinking Shannon!!

If you have not been on the Observation Deck here, please try and book any reservation you can get and just have drinks and a dessert or something! It is worth the view and I bet being out here for fireworks is as good as it can get!!!

Dan got sort of queasy up here since a part of it is not under direct support. We have a place called The Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis and it has a walk out with a partial clear floor and that is an absolute no go for him as well. Certain places I freak out at and it is usually when I have no control like on tall roller coasters when we are climbing and I am on the outside and it looks like a big free fall waiting to happen. I also HATE SPIDERS. So there is fears I have as well!

Within a few minutes our buzzer was going off and it was time to be seated. I did ask our hostess to take a quick picture before we spilled anything on ourselves and again, my stupid camera was not cooperating and it was reading we did not need the flash when we absolutely did. I have played around with some effects on photobucket and here is what I can do to better it!

We had some bread to share while we waited for our plates to begin and arrive. I had the steak, Dan the ravioli and S&S split some Lobter Bisque I believe and an entree...hmmm...with no pictures I am totally at a loss. Sam was taking photos and since my camera was acting wonkie...I let him do all the honors!

The food was wonderful but the highlight of the night was when they raised the shades that had helped protect us from the blinding sun and showed us the MK sunset. Pure glory I tell ya. Literally breathtaking and talk taking which for me is a huge thing! :rotfl2:

We each split a Chocolate treat for dessert and they brought out Shannon something for her birthday to nibble on as well. WE had fabulous conversations that night about many things from dating to "Tracks of Land" and a whole host of other things that adults can take the time to talk about when children are awol. It easily took us 2 hours to eat and not a minute felt rushed or wasted.

Shannon and I even got to see a super model "esque" woman and her family get seated by us. We dreamed of tripping the 6' tall drink of legs and blond luscious locks but we behaved, Shannon opened her gift and all was right in the world.

Then I made the mistake of using the restroom before we left.

You see I did my bidness and was out washing my hands and touching up lipstick and assessing the mirror reflection and thinking...hey...your not so bad.

Then...Bimbo Betty waltzes in with her Amazon figure and her child you know she had a surrogate for because nobody looks like that after they have a kid, and flips her hair towards me as she walked past.

Now I know it was probably an oversight. I am only 5'5 so it might be hard to see me at her Empire State Building height, not to mention she was wearing wedged sandals to give her a bit of an advantage over Shaqueal O'Neil BUT do not think it went unnoticed.

I grabbed her trusses, yanked them back and elbowed her in the throat.

All while smiling since it is Disney.

Okay....I didn't. I wanted to but I had a good shirt on and my momma always told me I could not get dirty when I had good clothes on and she looked like she might be a bleeder.

So I just coughed up the fur-ball she left in my throat, and spit it discretely into a paper towel, and walked out.

Only to tell Shannon of my experience and us bust out laughing as we waited for Sam to exit the boys room.

Next stop was MK for a view of the fireworks in front of the castle. It was Shannon's big day and her big wish and I was excited it would be the first time I would experience that exact same thing as well. I had viewed the fireworks from many locations but not dead center on Main Street.

We grabbed a monorail and departed at MK. Within minutes we were inside and cruising towards our destination. I was trying to take on all the sights there were with the decorations but there was just no time and I knew I would be back in a day for MNSSHP.

So right after the hub with the flagpole, Shannon and I were in the lead and Dan and San were a few yards behind.

We had barely passed the Kodak shop on the right when a man, yelling to a woman who was behind him, passed us.

He was frazzled.

He was frustrated.

He was talking chop chop wickie wickie and yet his words were beyond clear.

"SHE ALWAYS PEES ON MAIN STREET AT THE MAGIC KINGDOM!"

:scared1:  :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

I am not exaggerating and I cannot make this up.

Shannon and I both did a double take because he did not have a kid or a stroller with him.

Nor did he have an elderly person nearby who might have bladder control issues.

About 4 seconds after the double take, we looked at each other, still at a 16 MPH walk speed, and said, "DID HE SAY WHAT I THINK HE JUST SAID??????" :confused3

We both agreed that indeed, we heard correctly and needed to do ground surveillance on our trek!

Ohhhh.....and we laughed till we were almost crying. We tried to tell the guys but they were lost as to what was so funny. In fact we tried again after we got to a good spot to wait and they still were not doubling over like we were.

I called the title right then and there and was glad I had a witness to such momentous events. Shannon said she was sure it was me as a magnet to the offbeat wackadoos, because she never hears odd ball things like that alone. :teacher:  :thumbsup2

shannn.jpg

Me & Shannon on Main Street!!!

As we huddled together and tried to save our spots, we realized we might be in a loosing battle. The CM's were trying to push people together and I mean TOGETHER.

LIKE...

"WE ARE FAMILY.....ALL MY BROTHERS SISTERS AND ME!"

Because if I got moved any closer to the guy to my left...I may have a need for a child support check in 10 months!

They were relentless as were the people who always wait until the last second and then try and squeeze their spandex into your "NO SPANDEX" zone.

I mean come on people. I really do not want the smell of your armpit juice on my neck. It's not my Parfume of choice and I am pretty sure they stopped selling it at Epcot in France!

Then...the fireworks started and the fun began!

P1080609.jpg

Sam taking pictures and Shannon just loving life!

P1080610.jpg

No room in the inn I tell ya!!

Great show and worth the squashing feeling and slight Claustrophobic Panic Attack I smothered.

We turned to try and leave and that is where Dan lost his cool. I mean in the polite Dan way he does but really was not feeling the Disney magic.

We had made it maybe 5 feet further down towards the exit but lets face it, you had throngs of people cutting past from Casey's, from the sneaky way to Tomorrowland and there was already a sea of people filling in every square inch on main street.

We were going nowhere in a hurry and neither was anyone else.

Except rude people. They always assume they are the anointed ones.

It is also lately that these are people with strollers. Because the fact you decided to keep your kid up late (which I have done) and they are now cranky (which I have experienced) is a huge reason everyone should get the heck out of your way because you need to be the first on the bus, or into your car, or on the monorail. (This I have never done.)

So some jacklassie from the right, starts pushing through with her people mover stroller and the fact that 6,000 people might be in your way has no significance to you.

She rams into Dan's shin and ankle like he is going to evaporate into thin air like in a Mario Brothers game.

Then, she backs up and I am not joking, rams him again.

He is 6'6 and 340 pounds.

He is not invisible to most.

Nor does his size mean he is stealth on his toes. So he did not have time or room to move when she went in for the third attack.

So Dan, wincing in pain, yells at her, "Excuse me!!! That thing you keep hitting is my shin! Did you want to get through???? Because it is common courtesy to say, "I am sorry for taking you out at the ankles," when you hit someone, not repeating the injury another two times!"

She looked at him like he was the biggest jerk on the planet and said, "I did not know, sorry!" Like a big snot.

Dan proceeded to tell her the reason why she did not know is because she was not paying attention to what was in front of her and maybe trying to cross sideways at the busiest intersection in WDW is not the best plan.

Like I said, Dan is calm Joe 99% of the time but she was out of line and the fact she hauled the stroller back a good foot to try and get momentum to push through again and again, was ridiculous.

She was just lucky it was Dan and not me cause it was the end of my night and if my clothes got dirty...I would not have cared! pirate:

We spent time perusing the shops, ogling at purses and trying to distract Sam from purse prices Shannon, might have already obtained! I love the Dooney and Burke ones but could not find one I absolutely loved size wise. I am a handbag mama so no across the b00bie straps or long handles please for me.

We then sauntered over to the Contemporary by walking and parted ways at the car lot.

Dan and I went into the Contemporary to look around a bit and we also needed to split some money for the Valet. Nothing caught our eye as a must have so we just got a few snacks from the convenience store and headed back to POFQ. We did see an amazing car when they brought our little beauty around. It had actually been parked there when we arrived and I am sure the liability of parking it in a lot is huge so the Valets were told to not touch it.

It was a new Aston Martin....nothing a few extra bucks won't buy!!!

Great report. I love your sense of humor.

But it would be a lot easier to read if you somehow made it so that I didn't have to zoom across the page to read a sentence.

Do you have to for every post or just the last one? I only show that as an issue for the last on and I have re-sized a picture so it should be better now!

I know what you mean and it drives me crazy as well....let me know if it is an issue still?

Anyone else???:confused3

Just read another FABULOUS update and didn't have any issues with having to scroll to read.

I just love California Grill and wish that we could eat there on our next trip. I don't want to take the kids there. I am sure they would be fine behave wise, but they can be picky eaters and I'm not sure if I want to deal with a second meal later. Watching Wishes up there was absolutely amazing when just Brent and I were there in March :lovestruc

What a fun dinner you guys had. Sounds like a blast! You all looked so nice - buffed and puffed and all that!

Wow Dan....You Go! That whole stroller up the ankles thing is a little annoying, to say the least. Can't say I blame him for losing his cool. Ouch!

The worst part of the evening is leaving the MK, but isnt nice to walk (or should I say saunter) back to the Contemporary.

Fun update!

You know I've never ridden the boat at Epcot and I think this time I'm gonna make a point to.
It was a awesome moment of just enjoying something we usually run past and don't take the time to enjoy.
I continue to covet your story telling abilities and dream of the day I will get the nerve to write my own TR.
That was such a nice compliment. YOU CAN write one well! I believe in you!

We were given a trip to Montana for a week this summer by my parents…plane tickets, cabin, rental car, the works!

I think you are lucky!!! That will never happen to me!!!

I am really looking forward to seeing the new caramel shop, too. The cupcake looks amazing! There is a shop in Ashville NC that has amazing caramels they make with seasalt on top...yummy yumm yumm!! I'll have to try and remember the name of the place and let y'all know.
You have to remember the name!!! I love sea salt on caramel and even better if it is covered in dark chocolate first!!! One of the few things my "lawas" of mixing sweet and salty deviates from!!
HI! Just found you TR and I LOOOOOOVE it! You're so funny :rotfl2: Thanks for sharing. ;)
Well I LOOOOOOOOVE you!!! :rotfl2:
Do you think they'll serve me one of those sunset drinks at 8am?? :lmao: Show them some leg and anything is can happen!:lmao:

Anyway, just wanted you to know I'm enjoying it and laughed the whole way through ( yes even the throw up part)!
You might want to see a therapist for that!!! :rotfl: Glad you are here!! :yay:
Glad my comments proved entertaining...that's what I'm here for!
And doing a bang up job I might say!!!
That cupcake - Oh. My. Gosh. I can't believe the amount of frosting! I will be stopping into that shop in approximately 6 1/2 weeks and MUST try that!!!
Really good but I think you could bring a small pice of Tupperware with and take off 3/4 of the frosting and use it later for graham crackers!! Or jump on the sin wagon like us and dip your already sugared filled snack of caramel corn in it for a heart attack! :scared1:
Okay, I just have to say that I have lurked on all of your other TR's, and was thrilled when I found your new one!

Your TR's are always so funny and have me rolling. :rotfl2:
I am so glad to see you here!!!! Love your avatar!!! :cutie:
I'm glad you called the numbers. Isn't it super fun??
Too fun...except Carsyn and I tried to call and I got someone from India and they were so polite...they kept trying to help figure out who I was calling like they could just run and get them! :confused3 :rotfl2:
Great update! I am a big caramel fan too and your description of that cupcake had my mouth watering!
It is on a huge list of must haves when we go...and I might get a box on the way out to bring to New Orleans!!
Interesting story about the lady who never leaves her house. That's OCD, for sure!
She looked like she had a great time though so maybe she will leave her area again in the future. She worked like 1 block from her house, never drove etc...I felt bad for her kids. They were grown ups but you know that had to be a hard life growing up.
Watching Wishes up there was absolutely amazing when just Brent and I were there in March :lovestruc
Jealous!!!! I bet it was great!!!!
The worst part of the evening is leaving the MK, but isnt nice to walk (or should I say saunter) back to the Contemporary.
It does make the magic end a bit slower than being armpit to face with people on a packed bus!!! :teacher::rotfl:

Thanks - you are so kind!!!

So have you heard a ton of negative about the place or all positive like the fairies mentioned? I mean there will always be a gripe here and there in any living situation but it made a lot of sense...if you are a people person. It makes me so sad to see older communities in towns just living as shut in's because they are so isolated as the turnover happens. In this day and age - we do not see our neighbors and take care of our old like they used to...

I think I need some prune juice now!:rotfl2:

Actually, they love living there and are trying to convince my parents to move down there. They think I would move with them to only be an hour from The Mouse. They have activities all the time and people were constantly around in their little golf carts. It really is a different kind of community!

Just signed up and loving it - DH thinks I'm mad though as I am laughing out loud :rotfl2:

DH and I are finally getting to escape without kids in September and are heading off to NY for six days - one day we will make it to Disney on our own.

Yay Dawn! What a site for sick eyes. You're what the doctor ordered. Guess you get the idea - your brand of humor always makes my day! :cheer2:

We didn't make it to Cali Garden. I was outvoted - so perhaps another time. I'm sure if I said for appetizers or a dessert only I might get them to agree. The sunset itself would be worth it.

OMG - the way they pushed everyone together like a nine layer torte cake is unreal at the Wishes fireworks. Unbelievable. And the CM's are unrelenting. We had quite a hard time with rude, rude people, and I'm sorry to say many were foreign and mainly from a certain country. I won't pick the country out because I don't believe all people are the same. Unfortunately, we found them daily at all the parks. But those fireworks are spectacular and a must ONE time. We all said we wouldn't do it again.

psst: take Mel up on her offer... she's A1. :woohoo:

My TR is up and running, as is frzndaqiri's. We decided to have separate TR's without doubling up on info - two different perspectives and although we ate together - only dish up the goods on our own selections.

Looking forward to reading more. :surfweb:

I LOVED the pic of you and Shann on Main Street. You both are gorgeous and it is just a great shot exposure-wise too (I'm a bit of a camera geek, sorry)

I have many fond memories of that observation deck. Ok, well, one. The boy I dated in 8th grade was a DVC member, and that March our family trips overlapped, so we made ADRs (except back then it was Priority Seating) at the same time. Our parents stayed inside because it was slightly chilly, but I remember standing out there with my head on his shoulder watching the fireworks. And of course, when you're 14, any personal contact is just heaven on earth. That night was really fun, because after dinner at California Grill we went and played Fantasia Mini Golf. And my mom had had so much to drink she fell off the putt-putt course. :rolleyes1 The funny thing is, my junior year in high school my best friend and I were at Disney for Spring Break, and Trey and his dad were down too, so of course we met up, and his dad remembered my mom "tripping". I found it hilarious. Mom...not so much.

My family believes that there should be a separate lane for strollers. Like the bike lanes they have on roads? They need them at WDW. Actually, Mom's all for a separate park entirely, but she'd settle for a lane. I do not understand why people think strollers=tanks, or give them a right to push through the space that a small child by themselves couldn't fit through, much less a 3 foot wide rolling plastic box. So all I can say is: GO DAN! :cheer2:

Looking forward to the next installment. I've never been to MNSSHP, so I plan on living vicariously through your trip...

Wonderful update! But WOW -- so many people all packed in together... Yikes! Sounds like you had a good time, though. Well, with the exception of stroller-rammer-lady.

It looks like you had a great time! I bet the Aston Martin was the model's! :) The kids probably rode with the nanny...

Didn't you love your meal at Cali? Sooooo good :thumbsup2 I saw Hallowishes from there in October....was amazing!
Awesome pic of you and Shann on Main Street :thumbsup2
I saw an Aston Martin at AKV in October..was white and yes I posed for numerous pictures next to the car :rolleyes1

Hey Dawn! Love your new TR (as always)! My cruddy day is already a lot better and my lab mates are probably wondering why I'm cackling like a demented hyena in my corner of the shared office.

I was just in Asheville two weeks ago visiting a friend and she took me to this amazing place called French Broad Chocolate Lounge and they had some delectable sea salt caramels in dark chocolate! Maybe it's the same place the other reader was referring to. I didn't try any because I was too busy guzzling their thick drinking chocolate! It was like liquid heaven in a cup! :cloud9: You gotta try this place next time you pass through Asheville, and it's worth the 2938734 hours of elliptical machine workouts afterward.
