Sharon's Journal -150 here I come!

Good morning Sharon,
Sending lots of :sunny: your way today! I'm glad that you like the book that you ordered. It sounds like a good one.

I know you said that it may be hard for you to get to a gym 3Xs a week. What about using the FIRM videos? I haven't read the book yet, so I'm not sure what kind of weight training it talks about, but the FIRM incorporates aerobics and weight training together. You would have the flexibility of doing the workouts when you have time, you can use as little or as much weight as you want, you can pause, rewind, or stop the video, and you wouldn't have to leave home to do them. Plus, you get results pretty fast. For me, doing the FIRM workouts at home works very well. For my DH on the other hand, he has to go to his friend's house where he has a gym setup because he is into heavy weight training.

I hope that you can find a program that is flexible and that will work for you. Whatever you decide, know that your WISH friends will be here for you cheering you on to your weight loss goal victory. :grouphug: :Pinkbounc

Sharon - my neighbor has done Body for Life and had some great success with it until she got ill. I know that you are supposed to do the weight training but maybe you could try out adjusting to the rest of the plan and see how it goes and if you like it then make some time to do the weight training. I can understand your frustration with WW and it certainly wouldn't hurt to try something else. No matter what you decide I'm sure you'll do great. Please don't give up on the healthy lifestyle, you've come so far and you know that we are all here to help you out when you need us.

Hi, Sharon I was reading through the last few pages of your journal and I see that you have stalled. The advice that everyone has giving you so far is great. If you don't mind I would like add in my two cents. I notice that you stick to your target POINTS everyday, but I wonder do you ever use your Flex POINTS? I have heard of people doing a low POINT day (sticking to target POINTS) and then having some high POINTS days (using your Flex POINTS) I have noticed that I have a better weigh in when I vary my POINTS from day to day. Maybe something to try? Good luck to you!

BTW: Do you think I have typed in POINTS enough times? :p

Good morning Sharon!

Just stopping by to send some :sunny: your way today. I hope that you have a wonderful Thursday!

~Angela :wave2:

:wave2: Hi Sharon,
Have you built your ark yet ;) ? I'm happy to hear you are enjoying your new book. I hope you can find a way to make it work if that is what you have decided to do.

Wishing you a great day :sunny: !

Hi Sharon,

I'm just stopping by to wish you luck on the tag sale this weekend. I hope it goes well. Try to schedule some ME time in your incredibly busy weekend.
Have a great weekend,
Beth

:wave2: Hi Sharon,
I'm so glad that it has stopped raining for your yard sale :sunny: . I hope you make lots of money ::yes:: !

/
Hi All!:wave2:
No, I didn't fall off the face of the earth. I had an incredibly bad stomach bug since Wed. It is now Sat afternoon and I still don't feel 100%. I'm probably at about 85%. Wow, did that thing wipe me out! :( And then on top of it all, I had the yard sale yesterday and today!I still did the sale because it was a neighborhood thing and I didn't want to let anyone down. Not to mention I really wanted to get rid of all this stuff. It went REALLY well!:sunny: We made $350 from it!!!! WOOHOO!!!:Pinkbounc And with all the beautiful sun and warm temps, I got a little tiny bit of a sunburn!! Yeah for spring weather!!
I have eaten next to nothing for the last 4 days. Tea, toast. Thursday night I had a chicken cutlet sandwich, last night (the only thing I ate all day) I had a homemade burger. But everything seems to just go right thru me (sorry for being gross  )
So all the days are 100 % cheat free. And I've lost 3 lbs. You would think it would be more, but my body is just not parting with these pounds!! Even being sick as a dog for 4 days won't convince it. We'll see how long the weight stays down there. Right now it is reading 171.
Goals:
1) vitamins - not Wed or Fri, just feeling too icky 14/16
2) Count Blessings-not Wed or Thurs, couldn't think straight! 14/16
3) Cheat free - YUP!! 15/16
4) Exercise - not a chance in you know where!!! 5/16
(Although I did do a lot of work for the yard sale, up and down stairs, hauling stuff in and out...)

Well that's my story in a nutshell for the last 4 days. Can I just tell you how nice it was to read all the lovely, supportive comments that were left here for me?! :grouphug: to all my wish friends!!! You guys are truly the best!! I haven't even given any thought to the Body for Life program. As soon as I get back on my feet a little bit, I will go back to looking at that. I will let you guys know what transpires from it all.
Thanks again and I hope you all have a wonderful, :sunny: :sunny: weekend!!

Sharon,
 and :wizard: for you today. I hope that you are feeling much better! ::yes:: The nice weather should help a little. Finally, sun and warmth at the same time. Let's hope it lasts!:sunny: :Pinkbounc

WOW! You made $350 at your tag sale? That is awesome!!!:Pinkbounc Any chance you'll be using that money towards a Disney trip?::MickeyMo

Hope you have a wonderful Sunday Sharon! Take good care of you!

Tracy:wave2:

Thanks for the  Tracy! I'm sending one right back to you!;)
Unfortunately, the tag sale money isn't for Disney. We won't be going until next spring around this time. It will go towards our camping trips this summer. We are going for a week to Lake George, NY and a week to the southern Jersey shore.:teeth: Pluus we will try to go for a few weekend trips. We have a trailer we tow. My DH usually works Saturdays, so we don't get to do too many weekends.
Today went well. I am feeling a lot better. Still not up to my usual eating habits. I haven't made coffee (or had any for that matter) since Tuesday. That is always my barometer to how I'm feeling tummy wise. Didn't feel up to it today either. Probably tomorrow. We went to the park today and then to the mall.:crazy2: I had to get my DD some summer clothes. I also made my hubby some chicken a la Amanda, which he enjoyed. And I just made those breakfast muffins Amanda gave the recipe for. I had to cook them much longer - I wonder if my oven is starting to go?
Goal wise -
1) vitamins - yup, back on track there 15/18
2) count blessings - yes 15/18
3) cheat free - yes again! 17/18
4) exercise - nope, not yet 5/18

I am having a really phenomenal month, if only I would exercise!! That is the only thing I seem to just not be able to consistently motivate myself to do. I need to do some very deep personal introspection on that and see what I can do.
While I was at the mall, I had to buy myself some jeans. I didn't have a single pair that would fit me. And I just can't seem to shrink this bottom, sooooooo I had to buy new ones. The dressing room mirrors are EVIL!!! I really made myself look at my backside. It just isn't pretty! Not at all what my mental picture of myself looks like. It is certainly a motivator for staying OP!:earseek: Guess maybe I should do that more often. Man I just don't like what I saw!!!:scared1:
Well, that is my story for today. I hope everyone had an enjoyable Sunday!:sunny:

Happy Monday, Sharon!

Congrats on the 3 pounds lost, but I'm so sorry that being sick contributed to that number! to you! I figured that something had to be wrong since you were MIA for so long. Hopefully you're back to 100% this morning. ::yes::

Congrats on the money made at your tag sale over the weekend! That's just amazing...hopefully ours will go just as well this weekend. Unfortunately, I don't even remember what is in the boxes I've labeled for the sale. I've got some serious work to do this week.

Don't you just hate those dressing room mirrors. Couple those with the horrible lighting, and it's a wonder women ever buy clothes! :scared:

Good luck with figuring out your problem with exercising. I've got to do the same thing myself, unfortunately.

I hope that you have a great day! Take care and feel better! ::yes::

~Angela :wave2:

Hi Saharon,

I'm glad to hear that you are feeling better. Congrat on the tag sale. That will help with camping. I personally prefer room servica and a masseur on staff. I'm not the roughing it type, but I will have to do it this summer. DD can't wait to try it.

You will figure out the exercise thing. In the meantime, focus on how well you are doing on your other goals this month.

Have a good Monday,
Beth

Beth - not to worry! We don't "rough it"! Our camper has A/C, microwave, we bring 2 TVs, the campgrounds have cable.....
The nice thing is, we spend a lot more quality family time together when we camp compared to when we stay at a hotel. The TVs are only on at night when we go in to bed. That is after we have already sat around the campfire talking and having s'mores ( ). We bring our bikes and do lots of bike riding, cook outdoors, it really is very nice. I agree with you about the pampering. I couldn't do this type of thing in a tent!:rotfl: That's just "not me!"

Whew! What a day! I was out of work Wed and Thur last week due to illness and then I'm off Fridays. My assistant left a few weeks ago and they have not filled the position yet. All H**L broke loose last week and it seems like I've done nothing but try to correct all last weeks problems today. I've got one more thing to do from last week and then I think I'm caught up thru then. Then of course I'll need to catch up from today!:duck:
WOL wise, today has gone well. I am meeting my goals and see no problems making it a cheat free day. I don't think I'll get the exercise in, but I may yet try. :smooth:
I messed up my goal numbers a little yesterday. The proper numbers should be:

1) vitamins 16/18
2) blessings 16/18
3) cheat free 17/18
4) exercise 5/18 - unfortunately, I didn't mess this one up typographically

Exercise - I have always disliked any type of exercise routine. Don't get me wrong, I am a VERY active person. Just reading my schedule should give you some kind of idea. I don't wear a pedometer, but I would guess the number of steps I take each day is way up there. Plus, I walk very fast. ;) I would guess I was up and down my steps at home this AM at least 5 times before 7:30 AM. And I'll probably get another 5 trips in tonight. My job is a desk job, but I am up and down all day. I don't really sit still for hours at a time. But exercise routines? :scared: This is an area that I really need to improve myself in. Seems like this month I really got the hang of cheat free. Now, I need to add in the EXERCISE!
Angela- we'll see how long the 3 lb loss lasts now that I am back OP. And yes, dressing rooms are just plain EVIL!!!!
Samandmom - yes, I've tried the Wendie theory were I varied my points. It didn't help. My body seems to be excessively stubborn!;)
Amanda - I used Paul Newman's Salsa, but the mild version. I thought the kids would eat some. Next time we go for the HOT!!
Hope everyone had a great Monday!!

Sharon :sunny:

Hi There!!!!
I just posted my first journal, and I see that you are from Shelton! You are only 20 minutes or so from me. I have a terrific neighborhood to walk in, if you are ever interested in joining me, or meeting up to walk together.

Sounds like you are chugging right along!
I just lost my job and its nice to have some time to really focus on my weight goals.
Sounds like your Monday was crazy, hope you get caught up today!
Maybe a pedometer would be cool- to know how far you do walk during the day....I like that idea for myself!!

Have a super end of Monday!! Looks like rain, i best go get my walk in now!

You do sound like you are very busy! You are like me about exercise though - I just can't keep a routine for very long. The only thing I was successful at was Jazzercise and even that I took breaks every now and then. I was never an athletic person and had no interest in being one. I think if we do what we can then we should be proud of that. God made us all different so we should just accept those differences and be happy with what we can do.

~Amanda

You know Amanda, if I could just get the scale to move, I wouldn't be so hard on myself with the exercise. But even with me cheat free almost all month, the pesky thing won't budge! (Other than what I lost while ill.)
I am accepting the fact that I will turn 4-0 this year and I believe I may be in the beginning stages of menopause. These two things combined have made this weight loss nearly impossible for me. Not that I'm giving up mind you! But while I have always struggled with weight, it has NEVER been this difficult to drop weight. At least I am eating better, healthier and as Amanda said, I am making the effort with the exercise. Little by little I guess. And maybe eventually my body will figure out I don't really want these extra pounds! ;)
Yesterday was another cheat free day. I am REALLY proud of myself for how well I've done. It is April 20th and I have only cheated 1 day!:smooth: I am crossing my fingers that I will stay on track and meet my monthly goal!!

1) vitamins - yes 17/19
2) blessings - yes 17/19
3) cheat free - yes 18/19
4) exercise - nope  5/19

Tonight might be a cheat night. We are celebrating my Brothers BDay and there will be ice cream cake. I don't know if I'll have any or not, but if I want some, I will allow myself to have it guilt free because I am doing so well this month with that goal.

Tomorrow we are taking the kids to NYC. We are going to the Intrepid Museum, Toys R Us Times Square and lunch. Lets hope the weather holds out for us!:sunny:
Eyore4Ever149 - Welcome aboard neighbor!!! Thanks for the offer for a walking buddy!:teeth: Don't know when or if I'll find the time to schedule that, but I'll keep it in the back of my mind. ::yes:: I hope to stop by your journal soon!
That's it for now. Have a great day!!:sunny:

Sharon - it looks like you are doing a great job this month even though I know you've been struggling. Hopefully you'll be able to find time to get some exercise in again soon.

Good morning Sharon!

I hope you're having a fabulous time in NYC with the kids! The museum and toy shopping sound like the makings of a perfectly fun day! ::yes::

I'm so proud of you for remaining positive with your scale battles! You've made so many positive changes, and your body is surely thanking you for that! ::yes::

Can't wait to hear about your trip!

~Angela :wave2:

Sharon, there are only so many hours in the day. I know you want to exercise but sometimes there just isn't any extra time. Maybe you should wear a pedometer and count how many steps you take in an average day. Then you can work on adding more steps as time goes by.

You can always start the Body for Life eating plan and make sure that you can stick with it, before you spend the money to join a gym and add the weight training.

I hope you're having a great time in NYC!! :sunny:
