That's why we went! Wasn't it nice of Disney to have it done just in time for our 20th anniversary? :rotfl:

Wow talk about an ocean view! Studio? One bedroom?
This is a studio. We also stayed in 712 (one bedroom), and 505 (studio). Since we changed our travel dates, we had to take what we could get. No complaints though!

That is beautiful :cloud9:
I want to go SO bad!!
What are you waiting for? Go! It's amazing!!

Amazing!! Please post more!!!!:yay:
Gladly!
A rainbow almost every day!

Looking back at Aulani as it turns this amazing golden color during sunset was almost as amazing as looking over the ocean....almost....

View from 712 (1 bedroom) - very different, much louder, but...

...at least I could keep tabs on my husband from the balcony! :lmao:

I managed to get a 1 bedroom OV for July for four nights our 20th anniversary. We are staying in Maui for 6 nights and then Aulani for 4 nights. I felt very lucky until last night when I read the negative Aulani reviews on tripadvisor. I was having second thoughts and was thinking of just cancelling Aulani altogether and just do Maui. The reviews about poor dining choices, crowded pools really scared me. Then I popped in here to see what Dis'ers have to say and your pictures really reassured me!!! Please post more!!!

Oh my goodness DisneyAlly! I just don't see how Aulani could get poor reviews. Granted, it was our first time to Hawaii, but I was overwhelmed at the level of service, theming, and originality of the resort.

We had a car, and I know that helped with dining. While we were in the studio, we bought premade salads, wraps, and $10 pizza at Costco (about 5 minute drive)!

As far as the pools go, I just don't see an overcrowding issue. While we were there, the resort was at capacity. Actually, a cast member at the front desk told us they were actually overbooked, and not sure how that was going to work out. The pools were not crowded. There was always room in the 2-tier infinity hot tubs to watch the sunset. There were only about 3-4 people in front of us to ride the slides. I always felt like we were kind of alone in the lazy river - very rarely did we collide with another tube. We had so much room in the pool btw, my son and husband were able to toss a football back and forth without there being anyone near. I don't get it!

Take advantage of Community Hall, Storytelling time, the Menehune trail if you have a child (mine is 9), Starlit Hu'i, and the Sunset ceremonies. I can't wait to get back! This is the first time I ever wanted to add points. Can you believe we only have 200 points and managed 10 days in Hawaii with three of those nights in a 1-bedroom ON CHRISTMAS?? Wow! I am finally back on the DVC train.

Oh and we also bought alcohol at Costco - I think it was between $20-$24 dollars for a case of local beer (1/2 Longboard and 1/2 Fire Rock), and less than that for a big bottle of Mai Tai!:cool1:

Stitch's girl--I posted a thread asking for help but I thought I would ask you too since you're there...

Would you mind checking the brand/type of mattress used at Aulani. We just got back and I'm interested in getting the same/similar one. Thanks!

Love your pics, btw! Is your oceanview studio on the inside of the V or on the outside of the V? What tower are you in?

Lilpooh, I saw your great question on the mattress, and realized that I too slept so good when I was there. I love their beds! Unfortunately, we flew home on Dec 28. I hope you get an answer soon. I don't remember the names of the towers, but if you are looking at the ocean from the lobby, we were on the tower on the right hand side. We were not on the valley (inside) side, we were on the outside of the v. It was very quiet and if we looked down from our balcony, we could see the smaller pool to the left (not pictured), and spa's hydrotherapy garden below and to the right.

Thanks for your response!

BTW, I loved that smaller pool. When we were there it was super windy and it was never windy by that pool. I think the tower blocked the wind. It's a nice place to sit. We saw a wedding at the Makaloa Gardens from that same pool :) So cute. Glad you had a good time!

When were you there? The first few days it was windy for us too - I never tried the little pool. Since we have a 9-yr old we spent a lot of time on the slides and the big pool. The lazy river was the closest I got to relaxing on the water!

We were there 12/20 to 12/24 and it was super windy and we couldn't find any chairs in the mornings...so we found some by the little pool. Our DD is only 2 1/2 so pool days are short for us (for now). :)

Enjoying the pictures.
Looking forward to booking our stay here in a few weeks.
