Hi, I'm sorry - I'm sure this has been asked before but I can't find what I'm looking for on the search. :confused3

On DDP can we share TS meals? I know that we will have to pay for all of us at any buffets we do, but at a standard TS restaurant could we order one meal for our two older daughters to share? They will be 12 and 10 so they both count as Disney adults and I'm worried that if they both have a meal to themselves we will end up wasting a lot of food. :goodvibes

Thanks Jo

Yes, we have done this at naccoossees & sci if both halved on plates. We did leave extra tips as they still served three of us.

This is no problem however it is customary to tip as if you had 2 meals not just one.

They can also order from the kids menu in most places if they prefer those choices.

Sharing is OK under DDP rules as long as it's with someone else who is on your plan - you can not share with someone else.

Do you have plans for any extra credits? If not I would just let them each order what they want rather than having to agree on something - it's a holiday after all :goodvibes

sharing means you'll have credits left

this means booking extra ts or using those credits for signatures

there are 2 possibilities here
a) the kids will go hungry and you'll end up cancelling adrs or pay oop for some meals
b) you'll end up with leftover ts credits

in the end there might be a waste of food, money or credit

don't guesstimate what your 12 year old can scoop in when in florida
many disers have discovered that their kids turned into ogres after a day at the park

kids that age may also not agree on the menu and sharing only works if both kids find something to their taste on what's ordered at the table

I would plan on ordering for everyone even if it means that a plate goes half unfinished ( and remember that some adults might actually be hungry enough to finish one of the kids plate)

if you realise that they have too much food, sharing is an option
but at the end of your trip you'll need to have saved enoigh credits for all party members to have another ts meal, which might not be the case (if you have 2 leftover ts ceedits for 4 people ypu either lose them or pay oop for 2 which is also a waste)
and you moght not find a restaurnt of choice on the day

my advice would be to plan as if your kids will manage with an adult menu and they might actually
and if they don't or if they don't feel hungry enough just tweak your plans

my bottomline is that it's better to leave the table with food still on the plate than leaving the table with a kid whose stomach is not full enough (they'll tell you they had enough, and 30 minutes later you'll hear the all too familiar ''mom I'm hungry'' :) )

Fantastic thanks for the replies. I will remember to add extra tips if we do share. Both my older two eat a good variety of food so I think they will mainly prefer to order from the adults menu but it is good to know that they could choose a children's meal if they prefer. I don't think I will force them to share but they have quite similar tastes so I will probably ask them to share if they do happen to choose the same meal. :goodvibes

Sorry - we crossed posts. I don't intend to make them share every meal but It's nice to know your options. I haven't finished working out our meal plans yet but we want to do a couple of 2 credit meals so we may well be buying a couple of meals OOP anyway. In that case if we have saved some credits by sharing then it will be a bonus towards those meals, if not then no problem. :goodvibes

All I would say is if you plan to do 2 credit meals, you would surely be better off using the DDP for those and paying OOP for those odd times where your kids might share. The only other thing I would say is that Disney food does tend to be more about quality over quantity (generally) so the portion sizes aren't quite as large as they might be in some off site places. When we did the DDP we found that we preferred to share when it cmae to the QS credits so we could share one meal for breakfast and another for lunch then use our TS credits to have a meal each in the evening. My 12 yo is a really good eater and can manage a full meal with dessert at Disney but we usually share if we eat offsite, again because the portions tend to be larger. And if your kids are good eaters, I can't imagine that they would want a kids meal because, for the most part, they are pretty dire!

Yes sorry I didn't word my previous post very well. I didn't necessarily mean we would pay OOP for the 2 credit meals. If when I finalise our meal plans we need to pay for some meals OOP then I would have a look at the menus and see which would be the best restaurants to pay at. :goodvibes I just meant that any of those meals that could be paid (or part paid) for with credits saved by sharing would be a bonus. :goodvibes

Thanks for the info about the size of the meals. I think we will play it by ear and see how much they are eating etc once we are there. If they don't share any meals it isn't a big deal but it's nice to know what our options are. :goodvibes
