Does anyone see anything wrong with my DFi and I only buying one refillable mug at our resort and sharing it between us. We will be using the food court very rarely during our stay. I know that refillable mugs are a hot topic here but all opinions are welcome (even the "moral police" ;) ).

i see people doing this all the time Ali
i dont think theres anything wrong with it
( putting on flame suit)

Thank you Alicnwondrln! It's nice to have that support from the beginning of a flame-worthy conversation. :)

I don't see anything wrong with it (except that I'm so germaphobic that I wouldn't want to do it myself).

I am curious and I truly mean no disrespect. Everyone that frequents these boards on a regular basis, knows the Disney policy, they also know the policy is not enforced, so why ask these questions.

Will you not do this, if you get more answers that say don't, or will you do it if you feel enough people post here and support you. Do people go on Internet Forums and ask, "I am thinking of cheating on my income tax, what do you guys think, right or wrong"?

I just don't see the point in even asking. Either you do what the policy says or you don't. Either way it is your choice.

I will say I do find it bothersome that if you disagree with breaking rules you are automatically labeled, example the "moral police".

I see no reason for that and it only adds fuel to the flaming. :sad2:

Ummm...ok. How does that work when it comes to smooching your SO? :love2:

Hang on there Tiger! First of all, I guess my point in posting this message was to find out what the policy is. Perhaps you could point me in the right direction.

As a matter of fact, if the common consensus seemed to be that this was wrong and we would be stared at for doing it, we probably wouldn't buy any refillable mugs and perhaps go with ice water.

Don't make assumptions please.

And I wasn't calling anyone the moral police. In fact, I was making fun of those who through that term around as should be evident by the number of times I've been called the moral police.

I posted my OP because I truly wanted to know what people think about this matter and perhaps have a discussion on the "discussion board", if that's ok.

The policy is one mug per person same as it would be in any restaurant that has a beverage island where you get your own refills, just like Burger King etc. As stated I doubt it would be enforced, it is the honor policy. So again the choice is yours.

Really? I did not know that. Is this stated somewhere? If I had known it was against the rules, I wouldn't have asked in the first place.

I wouldn't want to share a mug with anyone...family member or child. If I share the drink inside, I gotta share the Disney Mug when I get home...Share Disney stuff...no way. Who want's Cherry Cool Aid taste in your hot tea?? Not me.

Stated somewhere, probably not. It's one of those "understood" policies. Same as buffets, each person pays that eats,
beverage islands, each customers buys a cup or mug,
newspaper stands (put your money in, get one paper)

However if you email Disney and ask about the Mug Policy this is their answer.

"Please know that the "Souvenir Mug" program at Walt Disney World® Resorts allow you to refill beverages (including hot coffee & tea) at your Resort for the length of your current stay. Please note that this program is for your Resort only. It is not extended to refills at other Walt Disney
World Resorts® or Theme Parks. Each person using the refills needs to purchase a mug."

:rotfl: I hadn't thought of it this way at all. My DFi and I would be having the same beverage at the same time. Now, though, that Sammie has shown me proof from WDW that this would be breaking some rule, we are going to forego the mugs entirely. Thank you Sammie. That's exactly the information I was looking for.

Me and my dd's shared one refillable mug that we refilled maybe twice. When it took us 20 minutes to get to the food court at CBR I knew we would not be getting our money's worth if we bought three mugs so we shared. I didn't think twice about it! I highly doubt that we drank $12 worth of lemonade.

Hey, my DH purchased a refillable mug and we shared it on our last trip, but I share what is his all the time. Basically, if it is on his plate, or in his cup, it is fair game for me to try it with my straw or my spoon. That said, we spent $11.99 on a refillable mug and during the whole duration of our trip used it two times (two refills). So total spent $5.485 for each drink. Did I jip anybody out of soda by sipping from his cup? I don't think so. Disney loves me because I'm the sucker that pays $11.99 for a refillable mug and never gets around to using it.

This is how we operate as well. :teeth:

My Dh and I each got one and they went to good use. I wouldn't recommend sharing only because they are sooooo small.

When we are at WDW we each get one, but that is just because I want to have 2 of them when we get home... Most of the time we share one at the food court, simply because I don't want to carry both mugs around. I see no problem with sharing a mug that you paid 12 bucks for... :confused3

Our trip to POR last year I bought 3 mugs for 5 people. DH is never satisfied with the "boring" coffee, soda, tea bit so he didn't get one. The littlest guy drinks 1/4 of a mug at a sitting, if that. Yes, DH did swig down a diet coke I had gotten once (which he hates), but I don't see anything wrong with what I did. I just know my family and how we use beverage systems.

Do we still have the mugs? Yes. Although I'm disapointed that I didn't get even one travel sized for the car. Will I bring them with me when we eventually return? Nope. I'm hoping Disney changes the design and I'll have a collection to choose from to and fill with my Dunkin Donuts coffee on a cold New England morning. :sunny:

On our last and only trip so far, :cool1: I bought one for me and one for my dh, but not for my ds4 just because he likes milk and wouldn't be drinking out of a mug that often. However when he did what soda we used my mug. I see nothing wrong personally. And about the whole germ swaping thing, big deal you kiss the guy whats the difference? As I see it you wash a guys dirty undies you can share anything, :rotfl: :rotfl:
