Those small Kipling crossbody bags aren't allowed on rides? I want to take a crossbody are any of them allowed?

I've heard no, which is why I made a waist bag rather than a messenger bag.

I'm guessing it has something to do with the straps interfering with the safety restraints on some of the rides.

If you can conceal the whole thing under your clothes you might be able to sneak it on, but I wouldn't bet on it. They do have lockers if you take a bag they don't allow on the rides.

Thanks to the great recommendations on these boards I ended up purchasing the Vera Bradley Travel Belt Bag - one for me and one for my DD. They haven't arrived yet but I am really excited about getting them and using them on our upcoming trip! :cool1:

Thanks for all the tips! :goodvibes

DD and I are taking ours to the Halloween Haunt at the local amusement park this weekend to break them in. :rotfl2: It's a good excuse anyway, right? I love how they look; they are so super cute. Trying to decide whether to try the waterproofing on them or not. Using a ziplock this weekend for my phone. We'll see how wet it gets inside the bag.

I was wondering the same thing - about the waterproofing. I'm going to stuff some Gallon size ziplocs in the bags when we travel so we can just stick the bags inside the ziplocs on water rides.

If you wouldn't mind, post on here after you have used yours and let me know how wet it ended up getting when you use yours this weekend. Have a good time!! :thumbsup2

Very cute and Harry Pottery! Nice touch with the Deathly Hallows symbol stitched on the strap there! :worship:

Thanks. The back pocket has a larger Deathly Hallows symbol on it (and my embroidery on it came out much better). ;) Waistband also has some runes with HP significance.

The best part: total cost for the project = $2.25 (had to buy the crest patch and the dragon patch). I had most of the supplies at home already. I considered buying a pattern, but I found a much larger bag at home that was the shape/style I wanted, so I drew out my own pattern based on it.

I also bought a can of waterproofing spray ($6), debating whether to spray it or just put it in a locker for water rides. Has anybody tried the spray on a bag? How much protection does it provide? We are going canoeing this weekend, may have to test it out (with a ziplock bag inside for backup). :thumbsup2

There are six rides that only allow waist packs.

That is why many of us purchased the kipling cross body bag that you can turn into a waist pack.

So, we went to the amusement park Halloween Haunt twice in the past month and I used my Vera Bradley Travel Waist Bag both times. It's absolutely the perfect size for me to carry my phone and cash and cards. Can also fit my camera but didn't take it on these jaunts.

As to holding up to water...our local park has a "log ride" and a "raft ride" (as well as another that gets you totally drenched but it closes after Labor Day so were unable to ride.) First trip, I didn't get very wet at all on either ride. Had the pack underneath my shirt. Shirt got wet, pack stayed dry. Yesterday, got a bit wet on the "log ride" pack stayed dry. Got drenched on the "raft ride". Pack was soaked through to the inside but baggie that held my phone still did not feel wet. As a precaution, I'll either keep putting my phone in a baggie for the Universal trip or consider waterproofing with the spray.

Anyone have any experience with using the waterproofing spray? Does it work? Does it dull or harm the fabric in any way?
