Nope..It has to be put in a locker.I am buying a VB waist pack since that is the only thing they allow pretty much consistently( small waist packs). They did not allow my neighbor to use her VB mini-hipster ,even if she tucked it down her shirt.Any unsecured item like that can be lost, can fall out and cause injury to others or cause the ride harnesses not to lock properly.I have pretty much informed my family already that this is NOT like Disney, and we are not carrying anything into the parks that is not absolutely neccessary

I'm another that was turned away with the Vera Bradley minihipster. The first trip it was in plain view. I was wearing it crossbody over a tshirt. The second trip, was this past Dec and it was cold, so I had it crossbody, under my jacket. The CM saw just the bottom edge sticking out from under my jacket and told me I had to put it in a locker. There was no possible way that bag was going anywhere. It was under my coat, which was zipped up and covering all but maybe the bottom 1/2" of the minihipster. The only things in it were my cell phone, small camera, and a plastic divider thingy that had my cc, ID, and AP and all three of those items were in the middle section that was zipped closed and then had the flap velcroed over the zipper, and then my jacket over it. There is no way anything could have possibly slipped out of it.

I have seen ladies with wristlets turned away on FJ. They were told to go back through the line to put them in the locker.

Not wanting to deal with them anymore I started wearing cargo shorts. Best decision I ever made. I wouldn't be caught dead in them around here, but for Universal they are perfect. A couple of months ago someone posted on the Budget board here on the DIS that Vera Bradley had their travel belts on sale for $14.99. I ordered one in the Viva la Vera print. Once I got it, I discovered that my Kindle fits perfectly in it. So I slipped it off the waist belt part and now I use it store my Kindle here at the house, but will be sliding it back on the belt and taking it to Universal when I'm there next week. I bought a can of waterproofing in the sporting goods dept and sprayed it inside and out, then even though the can said only one coat was needed to make things waterproof, I waited a few days and sprayed it inside and out again. Hoping it keeps everything dry in the rainstorms they're predicting next week for Orlando.

I got DD and my travel belt bags with the $14.99 sale as well. Mine is Deco Daisy and hers is the Viva la Vera. They are so cute, for fanny packs anyway! I thought about using the waterproof spray but didn't want to dull the fabric or anything before we even got to use them. Does your bag still look as good waterproofed as it did before? I've never used it before, usually just throw the camera and phone in a ziplock for water rides.

I just mine and DD's vera bradley belt bag....SO CUTE and SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO BIG! It will hold my droid and camera with NO PROBLEM
thanks to everyone!

What are the approximate sizes of waist packs that are allowed on the rides? I have a basement full of sewing supplies and am considering making my own, but I don't want it to be too big. The bags I have seen for sale are really not my style and I probably wouldn't use them for anything besides the three days I will be at US/IOA. Plus, my camera is sort of a funny shape (but still rather thin and flat), I want to be sure it will fit.

I also have a dog who has an excessive number of collars, so I have plenty of 3-prong clips to use for the strap.

From everything I've read, I don't think there are any specific size specifications, just that it's required to have a 3-prong clasp. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Personally, I'd keep it as small as possible and still fit what I need in order to be comfortable wearing it all day and for my butt/hips to stuff into a seat with the safety bars latching. :upsidedow

If only I had the time . . . :rotfl:

If it comes out okay, I'll post a picture when it's finished. I found some fabric with owls on it left over from another project, which I thought would be perfect for a bag to use when visiting WWoHP. But that will be decorative only, the fabric isn't sturdy enough for the actual bag. :wizard:

Sounds cute! Can't wait to see a picture. Sew fast. :hourglass

I am confused... WIll someone please splain to me like I am an 8 year old.

Most rides allow you to carry on items but you have to hold them.
There are a few rides (6-8) that require you to store your items in a locker. Items that you can put in your pockets are ok. Fanny packs with the plastic 3-prong clips are ok. Other bag types are probably not ok and TM will most likely not allow you to ride.
Wristlets and crossover bags are not ok.

My questions are -

What about the ID necklaces? Are these ok? Or would these be considered a bag? Do you have to tuck them inside your shirt or anything?

Do your pockets have to have zipper or buttons?

I know this was asked before but I didn't see a clear answer - can you leave items in your stroller? (Obviously not your wallet or expensive camera).

ID necklaces are fine. They are more concerned about cameras and phones flying around in loose purses. They don't care about pocket closures.

OK. So its not a matter of the strap getting caught on something and choking you ?

Finished bag is about 8" x 6.5"

I believe I have found THE perfect Universal bag!!

Check this out - http://www.ebags.com/product/kipling/multiple-convertible-waist-bag/60241?productid=685198

I've always carried a mini backpack to Disney and up until recently at Universal. Now that the kids are a bit older and we usually stay onsite at Universal, I just don't need that kind of room and don't want to deal with the hassle of carrying it. I would still like to have a place for the cell, camera, hand sanitizer, tissues, glasses, credit cards etc. and this little bag holds all of that and more! BUT, the best feature is that it can be worn as a purse over your shoulder which I'll do 98% of the time and then converted in seconds to a waist pack for those rides that won't allow bags.

As far as the room keys go, I have the hotel hole punch it for me and wear it around my neck on a cheap lanyard type string I picked up at a craft store. That way it is easily accessed for the ride attendants. Everyone in my party wears theirs that way.

I really like the idea of this bag for our first family trip to US/IOA. I do not want to have to wait in lines for lockers. For those of you that have this bag is it waterproof? What do you do when you go on the water rides?

Those small Kipling crossbody bags aren't allowed on rides? I want to take a crossbody are any of them allowed?
