I'm on WW - have been for years. I have discovered that on-line point tracking is really working for me!

The easiest way for me to start getting enough water is by drinking a bottle of water as I drive to work - that's 2 glasses.

So, share your best tips, no matter what weight-loss program you follow.

We just started back on WW...I find the 0 point soup helps along with other low point foods such as 94% ff popcorn.

One thing I do is if I eat a forzen ww meal (or the others), I eat it with some 0 point vegetables on the side.

Walking. I go for a walk during lunch at work and regardless of the weather take my dog for a two mile walk before work (even if it makes me late) and two miles when I get home. She expects it, so I cant let her down.

Here are a few of my tips...I've been on WW for almost a year and made lifetime December 07!

Extra peppermint gum - I chew it a lot! It shuts off my desire to continue eating when I have gotten a "taste" of something. I know there are some people who say it's bad to chew a lot of sugar free gum - but I've been doing it for a while and I have been very successful in my weight loss!

My "pep talk walk" - Everytime I walk (usually 3-4 week for an hour) I spend the entire time giving myself a HUGH pep talk...it has really helped me with the positive self talk aspect of the WW program! Even if you're not on WW, give yourself a pep talk!

My favorite low point meal...1/2 c black beans, 1/2 c canned corn, small chicken breast cooked chopped up, 2 T salsa. Warm in the microwave, stir, top w fresh chopped tomato. Serve with baked scoops. 7 point dinner and it is SO good. I eat this several times a week and have never gotten tired of it!

94% FF kettle corn...100 cal serving. 1 point. Awesome!

Write everything down everyday. Not a new idea, but it does work if you are honest and do it every single day! Even if I have a little splurge, once I write it down and account for it, I don't feel one bit of guilt!

That's all I can think of for now! Good luck everyone!!:goodvibes

Ooh Andrea - I think I'm going to try that recipe. Sounds like its something easy I could bring to work with me :9

Two things that I have found to be helpful are having a cup of hot water with lemon at night before I go to bed. My chiropractor told me about this and it really does clean out your system. Then I find the best dance songs I can and put them on my ipod for the gym. Working out to music just makes the workout go faster and its more fun that way.

One thing I remembered was that this website has some great tips and has WW point info for alot of restaurants:

DWLZ dot com

For me it is make the time for yourself EVERYDAY to exercise and think about what you are going to eat so you don;t grab whatever is handy. It is hard but having that time for me is the best thing I have ever done for myself since becoming a mom and I feel SO MUCH better in my own skin.

For me it is weighing out portions and journaling everything I eat - I mean every bite. It keeps me accountable to myself and prevents those extra calories from creeping in. Plus when I have to journal it it brings what I am trying to accomplish to the front of my mind several times a day. The more I think about what I am trying to accomplish the more successful I seem to be.

These tips are great!

I have more to add.

* There are many days I just don't feel like doing whatever it is I am scheduled to do for the day. I always try to put on my gear and at least go for a bit. I figure if I can at least get out there and move it has to be worth something. Sometimes it works and I finish as I had planned and other times it is not my day and I at least tried my best.

* Try to not think of this journey using the "D" word. I try to think of it as making healthy choices and have been able to program my mind a little better.

Still having slippage, and this leads to the last tip I have to offer which is

* Never give up. Keep on keepin' on until you make it.

You can do it. We can do this!

Don't get down on yourself if you "slip". Actually, an occassional slippage is good for you. When you eat a certain way all of the time, your body becomes used to it. This doesn't mean that you won't loose weight. It just means it will come off slower. When that happens, do something that will blow your eating habits out of the water and then get back on your regimen. It will keep you from becoming stagnate.

If you eat some junk, don't forget the whole day and overeat. Stop there. You'll feel less guilty and do less damage than if you continued. Also, I try to think about somthing before I eat it and ask myself- what good is this going to do for my body? Sometimes, when pb cups are involved, the answe is- nothing!
I also agree with the pp about minty gum. I chew a lot of gum, too!

Always eat breakfast. It really does get your metabolism up and going.

For me, journalling is key, even if I go off program. If I keep writing everything down, I don't go as crazy as when I stop writing.

Beans, beans, beans. I throw beans in my salads and soups. They are a great source of protein and fiber. I usually make chili every other week, and split it into individual containers to have for lunch and dinner for the week. It's healthy and low ww points.

Lastly, we all slip up. Do not beat yourself up if you do. You are human. Just get back on track and you will be successful.

- Get dressed in front of a full length mirror. I've done this forever and have done it through my pregnancies. (now I'm just trying to tone back up after baby #2)

- Weigh yourself EVERYday - Must be a digital scale. It may get discouraging if it doesn't move downward quick enough, but you just want to be sure it doesn't go up. (your weight may fluctuate a little day to day. I'm breastfeeding, so some days mine is up 3 lbs. over the day before, the next day it is down) Weigh yourself naked first thing in the morning!!

- Eat 12 almonds everyday at 3:00. When I did South Beach before, I called them my diet pills!!:thumbsup2

- Prevention.com has Fitday for free under My Health Trackers. It's just like journaling, but it tells you your calories. It was very shocking the first couple of days I did it.

- Drink 8 glasses of water a day and NO soda or pop. (You never want to drink your calories as Jillian Michaels says.) A great tip I read about years ago was to put 8 rubber bands around your glass. After each glass, remove a rubber band. I always thought I was getting enough water until I did this. By around 8 at night I was finding I still had 3 glasses to go!!

- Another great piece of advice I read...Eat like a King for breakfast, a Queen for lunch and a Pauper for dinner. Think back in the past when society was thin as a whole, people would eat pancakes, bacon, eggs, toast, etc. for breakfast. Fuel to get you through the day.

I have been setting a little money aside each week so that when I reach my goal I can buy a few new outfits. I also have a weekend getaway planned for DH and I this April, so it motivates me to do well today. I know I will be proud of myself and so much more comfortable, too, and that makes me look forward to going even more.

This sounds delicious and I am going to try it this week. Thanks for sharing!

Love the tips everyone! Here are a few thing that help me:

  • I've been tracking what I eat using this website, http://caloriecount.about.com/. It really helps me see what kind of portions I consume daily (something I struggle with).
  • I allow myself to have one day to splurge. I don't go overboard, but it definitely keeps me sane!
  • I take at least three bottles of water with me to work each day. That way, I'm far less tempted to go get a pop when I'm thirsty.
  • I'm a pop-a-holic. So, I let myself drink 12 oz. a day. It was my way of weening myself off of it completely, which I haven't done yet. But, I still can have a can and it satisfies my craving.

Something that has worked for us, we haven't had pop in the house for at least 2 years. If we have it, we drink it. Simple as that. We just drink water for everything now. I've also been drinking water w/ unsweetened cranberry juice and a little key lime juice (or lemon juice). You can add a little Splenda if you like it sweeter. To me now, pop absolutely does NOT quench my thirst the way water does. Just hang in there and you won't even miss the pop. I never was addicted, but would at least have one or two a day. Now maybe once a week. You'll probably really start dropping the weight by cutting out the pop. Also unsweetened iced tea w/ Splenda may give you the caffeine boost if you need it. Good luck!! Sounds like you're moving in the right direction.

thanks for all of the great tips!

Personally for me, REWARDS work best!! I treat myself to mani/pedis, massages, new workout clothes, etc. I set up a rewards with a big milestone and aim for that dangling carrot!
