Shape up before you sail!

I'm down 13 pounds so far (still 28 to go to make my cruise goal). In 4 more pounds I will be at my first goal, then 3 pounds further and I'll hit my 2005 cruise weight (as well as being able to say I lost 20 pounds). :cool1:

I need to lose quite a bit of weight(about 60-70 lbs)- but realistically would love to lose about 20-25 before my cruise in June. I have lost about 10 lbs since last summer- and dealing with alot- my dad passed at the end of October, and the bank I work at got bought out- so probable layoffs coming soon. I have been drowning my sorrows with eating.:scared1: But I'm slowly trying.:goodvibes I have cut down sodas at work, just water, and I got some of the 100 calerie snacks for those afternoon cravings. Also DH(also trying to lose)and I have joined the YMCA and are trying to make it to the gym 2-4 times a week, and I joined a swim fit class starting in March for 2 days a week. Hopefully I will start to see some more results.

Count me in too. We are doing our first cruise in late June too and I started South Beach this am. Lots of encouragement here reading about all your successes. I REALLY have to work hard and get some weight off. FIrst goal will be 20lbs.................wish me luck.

Well today is the day I start my weight loss - improve fitness regime and I weighed in this morning - not good at all. I now need to lose 19lbs to reach my target weight - so I will make it a round 20lbs! Wish me luck and good luck to everyone out there trying to lose weight too!

Have lost 6 lbs thus far. My weekly weigh-ins are on Tuesdays. I've been using the Wii fit daily and it has been motivating me to get moving rather than just being a couch potato. I've been doing a lot of healthy cooking too, but I am seriously craving chips!

Hi everyone - just found this thread. You all are awesome!
I just realized it is only three months away until the beginning of June, where dd will be out of school and want to go to the pool! :scared1:

I was working out regularly and eating healthy right up to our last cruise in Sept '07. Then I started having severe knee pain about two weeks after we got back. Long story short after many doctors I found I had chondromalacia ("runners knee") . I went through 4 months of physical therapy and nothing helped. We even had to move from a two story house to a ranch because of the pain. I went to a different pt place, and something just clicked! I am now fairly pain free, but no more running probably ever. In this process I started feeling sorry for myself and gained about 25 lbs since then.
We are booked on another cruise this Sept, so I am really excited now to get myself going again, eating healthy, and making sure I go to the Y. I miss how I used to feel about myself, and the energy level I used to have (not to mention being able to actually fit into clothes in my closet.) I do best by reminding myself that every day/minute/food decision is independent of what was done before.

Hey all!!

Just started the Flat Belly Diet yesterday...so far, so good.

I cruised last month and gained 6 pounds, thankfully that has come off already but now I need to concentrate on the other pounds that have been accumulating over the years.

Good luck to all.

MJ

I am so glad I found this board! I have a 12/2010 cruise plan and that was my goal to lose all this extra weight by then. 22 months...I can do that. This week I just booked 10/2009 and realistically, can not reach goal by then. But, i will plan to be 1/2 way to my goal.

Joined WW 3 weeks ago and have lost 12 lbs so far. Just need to get motivated on exercise. I did go out and shovel all that horrible snow this morning so I figure that is day 1 for exercise. :thumbsup2

Hi everyone! How wonderful and inspiring to be part of a group all working toward the same goal! I'm joining WW tomorrow (tried to go tonight, but they were closed cause of a little snow...okay, we got over a foot, but still!! We have our 1st Disney Cruise booked for Oct 2010...600 days to lose a LOT....not sure how much since I didn't get weighed, but I'm guessing between 60-70. Totally do-able!! Less than a pound a week...I CAN do that!! :-)

Looking forward to supporting and being supported by all of you!

WE CAN DO THIS!!

Just found this thread today .... So So WISH I would have found it sooner....

We are leaving in a few weeks:woohoo: and I still have some more weight I would like to lose, but my story started back in July 2008 . Once I booked our trip I got out our photos from our 2007 trip. I wondered why I was NOT in many of them?

Then I saw THE Picture.. You know ... The Picture, the one photo that you see and realize OMG do I look like that ??? And it had to be worse, since I know I had gained some weight since then... So I did it .. I steppped on the scale....and CRIED:sad: ... but after crying I had a thought .. what if I could lose some weight .. I had plenty of time... our trip was so far away ... So I started ... I started working out for 30 minutes every day:yay: .... and then I started eating smaller portions , and really watching what I was eating ... and Then I started working out for an hour a day:jumping3: .... and here I am now

53 pounds lighter:wishfifty ..... It can be done.... I , of course, am so excited that our trip is coming, but I really want to lose another 7 pounds, so I can say I LOST 60 pounds ... but I am happy about what I have accomplished...:cheer2: and NOW I have all of you to motivate me for my last 23 days so that I can lose whatever I can before I leave...

GOOD LUCK to EVERYONE.... pixiedust:

Well I've been on my diet for 4 weeks now and have lost 20lbs so far & feel great!   Wow... that dancing banana makes me hungry for bananas! Oh... sorry - got off track there for a minute. My half marathon is on Sunday (walking it, not running :worship: ). I'm so excited!!!

Congrats to everyone who is losing! You are all inspiring. I've been behaving myself fairly well for the last couple of weeks, eating about 1200-1300 calories a day (which definitely gets easier as your stomach shrinks) and doing a little exercise, but not as much as I should. So far I've lost about 8 pounds of the 20 I should probably lose. Not a bad start. I just hope I don't gain it all back on our cruise on the 21st. Usually we are mid ship on deck six and I take the stairs everywhere, but this time they put us right at the bottom of the stairway to the buffet! Uh oh!

Everyone keep up the good work!

I had to share this with some who might understand: I'm a bit bummed out. We got home late from taking dd to soccer practice and I had a voice message from a friend who said they had a last minute cancellation in their new weight watchers meeting (that I didn't even know she was doing) and she wanted to know if I might be interested in taking the place of the woman who dropped out (and had already paid the dues). This is a friend who has no idea I am starting to work on losing weight. She did say "Not that you need to" on the message (thank goodness dh didn't hear the message). She is such a sweet person and I know without a doubt that she didn't mean any harm in asking and was just trying to be nice, but it really kind of shocked me - Does everyone think I need to loose weight? How big am I? I figure I need to loose about 30 lbs. 35 would be even better. I'm just glad I wasn't actually there to pick up the phone, because I would have been taken aback and not had a chance to think about how to react. It just was a dose of reality when I didn't expect it. :sad1:

I lost 2 more pounds this week, and walked a half marathon in less than 3.5 hours on Sunday.

Hi y'all, newbie here. We are going on the Wonder in May and I need to loose 20 pounds. Yikes! I broke out the old Tae Bow video yesterday and started working out. If I don't loose all 20 pounds at least I'll be able to punch out any one I catch looking at my big butt. :cool1:

Hi everyone!

Mind if I join? :goodvibes We have a 4 day cruise planned for the end of Oct. I have been on the Biggest Loser thread and have lost 20 lbs since Oct. , but would still like to lose some more. We cruised in Dec. and booked this OCt. cruise, as well as another cruise while on board. I wish we didn't have to wait until Oct. to cruise, but it is hard with taking the kids out of school. Don't want to take them out too much!
